Beloved, believe not every spirit, credere sed probate spiritus si ex Deo but try the spirits whether they are of sint quoniam multi pseudoprophetae God: because many false prophets are exierunt in mundum gone out into the world. 4:2 in hoc cognoscitur Spiritus Dei 2. Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: omnis spiritus qui confitetur Iesum Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christum in carne venisse ex Deo est Christ is come in the flesh is of God: 4:3 et omnis spiritus qui solvit Iesum 3. And every spirit that confesseth ex Deo non est et hoc est antichristi not that Jesus Christ is come in the quod audistis quoniam venit et nunc iam flesh is not of God: and this is that in mundo est spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world. 4:4 vos ex Deo estis filioli et 4. Ye are of God, little children, vicistis eos quoniam maior est qui in and have overcome them: because greater vobis est quam qui in mundo is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. 4:5 ipsi de mundo sunt ideo de mundo 5. They are of the world: therefore loquuntur et mundus eos audit speak they of the world, and the world heareth them. 4:6 nos ex Deo sumus qui novit Deum 6. We are of God: he that knoweth God audit nos qui non est ex Deo non audit heareth us; he that is not of God nos in hoc cognoscimus Spiritum heareth not us. Hereby know we the veritatis et spiritum erroris spirit of truth, and the spirit of error. 4:7 carissimi diligamus invicem 7. Beloved, let us love one another: quoniam caritas ex Deo est et omnis qui for love is of God; and every one that diligit ex Deo natus est et cognoscit loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. Deum 4:8 qui non diligit non novit Deum 8. He that loveth not knoweth not quoniam Deus caritas est God; for God is love. 4:9 in hoc apparuit caritas Dei in 9. In this was manifested the love of nobis quoniam Filium suum unigenitum God toward us, because that God sent misit Deus in mundum ut vivamus per eum his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. 4:10 in hoc est caritas non quasi nos 10. Herein is love, not that we loved dilexerimus Deum sed quoniam ipse God, but that he loved us, and sent his dilexit nos et misit Filium suum Son to be the propitiation for our sins. propitiationem pro peccatis nostris 4:11 carissimi si sic Deus dilexit nos 11. Beloved, if God so loved us, we et nos debemus alterutrum diligere ought also to love one another. 4:12 Deum nemo vidit umquam si 12. No man hath seen God at any time. diligamus invicem Deus in nobis manet If we love one another, God dwelleth in et caritas eius in nobis perfecta est us, and his love is perfected in us. 4:13 in hoc intellegimus quoniam in eo 13. Hereby know we that we dwell in manemus et ipse in nobis quoniam de him, and he in us, because he hath Spiritu suo dedit nobis given us of his Spirit. 4:14 et nos vidimus et testificamur 14. And we have seen and do testify quoniam Pater misit Filium salvatorem that the Father sent the Son to be the mundi Saviour of the world. 4:15 quisque confessus fuerit quoniam 15. Whosoever shall confess that Iesus est Filius Dei Deus in eo manet Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth et ipse in Deo in him, and he in God. 4:16 et nos cognovimus et credidimus 16. And we have known and believed caritati quam habet Deus in nobis Deus the love that God hath to us. God is caritas est et qui manet in caritate in love; and he that dwelleth in love Deo manet et Deus in eo dwelleth in God, and God in him. 4:17 in hoc perfecta est caritas 17. Herein is our love made perfect, nobiscum ut fiduciam habeamus in die that we may have boldness in the day of iudicii quia sicut ille est et nos judgment: because as he is, so are we sumus in hoc mundo in this world. 4:18 timor non est in caritate sed 18. There is no fear in love; but perfecta caritas foras mittit timorem perfect love casteth out fear: because quoniam timor poenam habet qui autem fear hath torment. He that feareth is timet non est perfectus in caritate not made perfect in love. 4:19 nos ergo diligamus quoniam Deus 19. We love him, because he first prior dilexit nos loved us. 4:20 si quis dixerit quoniam diligo 20. If a man say, I love God, and Deum et fratrem suum oderit mendax est hateth his brother, he is a liar: for qui enim non diligit fratrem suum quem he that loveth not his brother whom he vidit Deum quem non vidit quomodo hath seen, how can he love God whom he potest diligere hath not seen? 4:21 et hoc mandatum habemus ab eo ut 21. And this commandment have we from qui diligit Deum diligat et fratrem suum him, That he who loveth God love his brother also.Select Another Chapter: | NT Menu | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | Top of Chapter | |
