Whosoever believeth that Jesus is Christus ex Deo natus est et omnis qui the Christ is born of God: and every diligit eum qui genuit diligit eum qui one that loveth him that begat loveth natus est ex eo him also that is begotten of him. 5:2 in hoc cognoscimus quoniam 2. By this we know that we love the diligimus natos Dei cum Deum diligamus children of God, when we love God, and et mandata eius faciamus keep his commandments. 5:3 haec est enim caritas Dei ut 3. For this is the love of God, that mandata eius custodiamus et mandata we keep his commandments: and his eius gravia non sunt commandments are not grievous. 5:4 quoniam omne quod natum est ex Deo 4. For whatsoever is born of God vincit mundum et haec est victoria quae overcometh the world: and this is the vincit mundum fides nostra victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. 5:5 quis est qui vincit mundum nisi 5. Who is he that overcometh the qui credit quoniam Iesus est Filius Dei world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God? 5:6 hic est qui venit per aquam et 6. This is he that came by water and sanguinem Iesus Christus non in aqua blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water solum sed in aqua et sanguine et only, but by water and blood. And it is Spiritus est qui testificatur quoniam the Spirit that beareth witness, Christus est veritas because the Spirit is truth. 5:7 quia tres sunt qui testimonium dant 7. For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. 5:8 Spiritus et aqua et sanguis et 8. And there are three that bear tres unum sunt witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one. 5:9 si testimonium hominum accipimus 9. If we receive the witness of men, testimonium Dei maius est quoniam hoc the witness of God is greater: for this est testimonium Dei quod maius est quia is the witness of God which he hath testificatus est de Filio suo testified of his Son. 5:10 qui credit in Filio Dei habet 10. He that believeth on the Son of testimonium Dei in se qui non credit God hath the witness in himself: he Filio mendacem facit eum quoniam non that believeth not God hath made him a credidit in testimonio quod liar; because he believeth not the testificatus est Deus de Filio suo record that God gave of his Son. 5:11 et hoc est testimonium quoniam 11. And this is the record, that God vitam aeternam dedit nobis Deus et haec hath given to us eternal life, and this vita in Filio eius est life is in his Son. 5:12 qui habet Filium habet vitam qui 12. He that hath the Son hath life; non habet Filium Dei vitam non habet and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. 5:13 haec scripsi vobis ut sciatis 13. These things have I written unto quoniam vitam habetis aeternam qui you that believe on the name of the Son creditis in nomine Filii Dei of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. 5:14 et haec est fiducia quam habemus 14. And this is the confidence that ad eum quia quodcumque petierimus we have in him, that, if we ask any secundum voluntatem eius audit nos thing according to his will, he heareth us: 5:15 et scimus quoniam audit nos 15. And if we know that he hear us, quicquid petierimus scimus quoniam whatsoever we ask, we know that we have habemus petitiones quas postulavimus ab the petitions that we desired of him. eo 5:16 qui scit fratrem suum peccare 16. If any man see his brother sin a peccatum non ad mortem petet et dabit sin which is not unto death, he shall ei vitam peccantibus non ad mortem est ask, and he shall give him life for peccatum ad mortem non pro illo dico ut them that sin not unto death. There is roget a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it. 5:17 omnis iniquitas peccatum est et 17. All unrighteousness is sin: and est peccatum non ad mortem there is a sin not unto death. 5:18 scimus quoniam omnis qui natus 18. We know that whosoever is born of est ex Deo non peccat sed generatio Dei God sinneth not; but he that is conservat eum et malignus non tangit eum begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not. 5:19 scimus quoniam ex Deo sumus et 19. And we know that we are of God, mundus totus in maligno positus est and the whole world lieth in wickedness. 5:20 et scimus quoniam Filius Dei 20. And we know that the Son of God venit et dedit nobis sensum ut is come, and hath given us an cognoscamus verum Deum et simus in vero understanding, that we may know him Filio eius hic est verus Deus et vita that is true, and we are in him that is aeterna true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. filioli cusstodite vos a simulacris This is the true God, and eternal life. amenSelect Another Chapter: | NT Menu | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | Top of Chapter | |
