To an inheritance incorruptible, incontaminatam et inmarcescibilem and undefiled, and that fadeth not conservatam in caelis in vobis away, reserved in heaven for you, 1:5 qui in virtute Dei custodimini per 5. Who are kept by the power of God fidem in salutem paratam revelari in through faith unto salvation ready to tempore novissimo be revealed in the last time. 1:6 in quo exultatis modicum nunc si 6. Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though oportet contristati in variis now for a season, if need be, ye are in temptationibus heaviness through manifold temptations: 1:7 ut probatum vestrae fidei multo 7. That the trial of your faith, being pretiosius sit auro quod perit per much more precious than of gold that ignem probato inveniatur in laudem et perisheth, though it be tried with gloriam et honorem in revelatione Iesu fire, might be found unto praise and Christi honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ: 1:8 quem cum non videritis diligitis 8. Whom having not seen, ye love; in in quem nunc quoque non videntes whom, though now ye see him not, yet credentes autem exultatis laetitia believing, ye rejoice with joy inenarrabili et glorificata unspeakable and full of glory: 1:9 reportantes finem fidei vestrae 9. Receiving the end of your faith, salutem animarum even the salvation of your souls. 1:10 de qua salute exquisierunt atque 10. Of which salvation the prophets scrutati sunt prophetae qui de futura have enquired and searched diligently, in vobis gratia prophetaverunt who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you: 1:11 scrutantes in quod vel quale 11. Searching what, or what manner of tempus significaret in eis Spiritus time the Spirit of Christ which was in Christi praenuntians eas quae in them did signify, when it testified Christo sunt passiones et posteriores beforehand the sufferings of Christ, glorias and the glory that should follow. 1:12 quibus revelatum est quia non 12. Unto whom it was revealed, that sibi ipsis vobis autem ministrabant ea not unto themselves, but unto us they quae nunc nuntiata sunt vobis per eos did minister the things, which are now qui evangelizaverunt vos Spiritu Sancto reported unto you by them that have misso de caelo in quae desiderant preached the gospel unto you with the angeli prospicere Holy Ghost sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into. 1:13 propter quod succincti lumbos 13. Wherefore gird up the loins of mentis vestrae sobrii perfecte sperate your mind, be sober, and hope to the in eam quae offertur vobis gratiam in end for the grace that is to be brought revelatione Iesu Christi unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; 1:14 quasi filii oboedientiae non 14. As obedient children, not configurati prioribus ignorantiae fashioning yourselves according to the vestrae desideriis former lusts in your ignorance: 1:15 sed secundum eum qui vocavit vos 15. But as he which hath called you is sanctum et ipsi sancti in omni holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversatione sitis conversation; 1:16 quoniam scriptum est sancti 16. Because it is written, Be ye holy; eritis quia ego sanctus sum for I am holy. 1:17 et si Patrem invocatis eum qui 17. And if ye call on the Father, who sine acceptione personarum iudicat without respect of persons judgeth secundum uniuscuiusque opus in timore according to every man's work, pass the incolatus vestri tempore conversamini time of your sojourning here in fear: 1:18 scientes quod non corruptibilibus 18. Forasmuch as ye know that ye were argento vel auro redempti estis de vana not redeemed with corruptible things, vestra conversatione paternae as silver and gold, from your vain traditionis conversation received by tradition from your fathers; 1:19 sed pretioso sanguine quasi agni 19. But with the precious blood of incontaminati et inmaculati Christi Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: 1:20 praecogniti quidem ante 20. Who verily was foreordained before constitutionem mundi manifestati autem the foundation of the world, but was novissimis temporibus propter vos manifest in these last times for you, 1:21 qui per ipsum fideles estis in 21. Who by him do believe in God, that Deo qui suscitavit eum a mortuis et raised him up from the dead, and gave dedit ei gloriam ut fides vestra et him glory; that your faith and hope spes esset in Deo might be in God. 1:22 animas vestras castificantes in 22. Seeing ye have purified your souls oboedientia caritatis in fraternitatis in obeying the truth through the Spirit amore simplici ex corde invicem unto unfeigned love of the brethren, diligite adtentius see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently: 1:23 renati non ex semine corruptibili 23. Being born again, not of sed incorruptibili per verbum Dei vivi corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, et permanentis by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever. 1:24 quia omnis caro ut faenum et 24. For all flesh is as grass, and all omnis gloria eius tamquam flos faeni the glory of man as the flower of exaruit faenum et flos decidit grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away: 1:25 verbum autem Domini manet in 25. But the word of the Lord endureth aeternum hoc est autem verbum quod for ever. And this is the word which by evangelizatum est in vos the gospel is preached unto you.Select Another Chapter: | NT Menu | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | Top of Chapter | |
