For the time past of our life may ad voluntatem gentium consummandam qui suffice us to have wrought the will of ambulaverunt in luxuriis desideriis the Gentiles, when we walked in vinolentiis comesationibus potationibus lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, et inlicitis idolorum cultibus revellings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries: 4:4 in quo peregrinantur non 4. Wherein they think it strange that concurrentibus vobis in eandem luxuriae ye run not with them to the same excess confusionem blasphemantes of riot, speaking evil of you: 4:5 qui reddent rationem ei qui 5. Who shall give account to him that paratus est iudicare vivos et mortuos is ready to judge the quick and the dead. 4:6 propter hoc enim et mortuis 6. And above all things have fervent caritatem continuam habentes quia charity among yourselves: for charity caritas operit multitudinem peccatorum shall cover the multitude of sins. 4:9 hospitales invicem sine 9. Use hospitality one to another murmuratione without grudging. 4:10 unusquisque sicut accepit gratiam 10. As every man hath received the in alterutrum illam administrantes gift, even so minister the same one to sicut boni dispensatores multiformis another, as good stewards of the gratiae Dei manifold grace of God. 4:11 si quis loquitur quasi sermones 11. If any man speak, let him speak as Dei si quis ministrat tamquam ex the oracles of God; if any man virtute quam administrat Deus ut in minister, let him do it as of the omnibus honorificetur Deus per Iesum ability which God giveth: that God in Christum cui est gloria et imperium in all things may be glorified through saecula saeculorum amen Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen. 4:12 carissimi nolite peregrinari in 12. Beloved, think it not strange fervore qui ad temptationem vobis fit concerning the fiery trial which is to quasi novi aliquid vobis contingat try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: 4:13 sed communicantes Christi 13. But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are passionibus gaudete ut et in partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, revelatione gloriae eius gaudeatis when his glory shall be revealed, ye exultantes may be glad also with exceeding joy. 4:14 si exprobramini in nomine Christi 14. If ye be reproached for the name beati quoniam gloriae Dei Spiritus in of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit vobis requiescit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified. 4:15 nemo enim vestrum patiatur quasi 15. But let none of you suffer as a homicida aut fur aut maledicus aut murderer, or as a thief, or as an alienorum appetitor evildoer, or as a busybody in other men's matters. 4:16 si autem ut Christianus non 16. Yet if any man suffer as a erubescat glorificet autem Deum in isto Christian, let him not be ashamed; but nomine let him glorify God on this behalf. 4:17 quoniam tempus ut incipiat 17. For the time is come that judgment iudicium de domo Dei si autem primum a must begin at the house of God: and if nobis qui finis eorum qui non credunt it first begin at us, what shall the Dei evangelio end be of them that obey not the gospel of God? 4:18 et si iustus vix salvatur impius 18. And if the righteous scarcely be et peccator ubi parebit saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear? 4:19 itaque et hii qui patiuntur 19. Wherefore let them that suffer secundum voluntatem Dei fideli creatori according to the will of God commit the commendant animas suas in benefactis keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.Select Another Chapter: | NT Menu | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | Top of Chapter | |
