2:1 deponentes igitur omnem malitiam 1. Wherefore laying aside all malice,
et omnem dolum et simulationes et and all guile, and hypocrisies, and
invidias et omnes detractiones envies, all evil speakings,
2:2 sicut modo geniti infantes 2. As newborn babes, desire the
rationale sine dolo lac concupiscite ut sincere milk of the word, that ye may
in eo crescatis in salutem grow thereby:
2:3 si gustastis quoniam dulcis Dominus 3. If so be ye have tasted that the
Lord is gracious.
2:4 ad quem accedentes lapidem vivum 4. To whom coming, as unto a living

2:15 quia sic est voluntas Dei ut 15. For so is the will of God, that
benefacientes obmutescere faciatis with well doing ye may put to silence
inprudentium hominum ignorantiam the ignorance of foolish men:
2:16 quasi liberi et non quasi velamen 16. As free, and not using your

2:17 omnes honorate fraternitatem 17. Honour all men. Love the
diligite Deum timete regem honorificate brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king.
2:18 servi subditi in omni timore 18. Servants, be subject to your
dominis non tantum bonis et modestis masters with all fear; not only to the
sed etiam discolis good and gentle, but also to the
froward.
2:19 haec est enim gratia si propter 19. For this is thankworthy, if a man
conscientiam Dei sustinet quis for conscience toward God endure grief,
tristitias patiens iniuste suffering wrongfully.
2:20 quae enim gloria est si peccantes 20. For what glory is it, if, when ye
et colaphizati suffertis sed si be buffeted for your faults, ye shall
benefacientes et patientes sustinetis take it patiently? but if, when ye do
haec est gratia apud Deum well, and suffer for it, ye take it
patiently, this is acceptable with God.
2:21 in hoc enim vocati estis quia et 21. For even hereunto were ye called:
Christus passus est pro vobis vobis because Christ also suffered for us,
relinquens exemplum ut sequamini leaving us an example, that ye should
