Paul, and Silvanus, and Timotheus, ecclesiae Thessalonicensium in Deo unto the church of the Thessalonians Patre et Domino Iesu Christo gratia which is in God the Father and in the vobis et pax Lord Jesus Christ: Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ. 1:2 gratias agimus Deo semper pro 2. We give thanks to God always for omnibus vobis memoriam facientes in you all, making mention of you in our orationibus nostris sine intermissione prayers; 1:3 memores operis fidei vestrae et 3. Remembering without ceasing your laboris et caritatis et sustinentiae work of faith, and labour of love, and spei Domini nostri Iesu Christi ante patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Deum et Patrem nostrum Christ, in the sight of God and our Father; 1:4 scientes fratres dilecti a Deo 4. Knowing, brethren beloved, your electionem vestram election of God. 1:5 quia evangelium nostrum non fuit 5. For our gospel came not unto you in ad vos in sermone tantum sed et in word only, but also in power, and in virtute et in Spiritu Sancto et in the Holy Ghost, and in much assurance; plenitudine multa sicut scitis quales as ye know what manner of men we were fuerimus vobis propter vos among you for your sake. 1:6 et vos imitatores nostri facti 6. And ye became followers of us, and estis et Domini excipientes verbum in of the Lord, having received the word tribulatione multa cum gaudio Spiritus in much affliction, with joy of the Sancti Holy Ghost. 1:7 ita ut facti sitis forma omnibus 7. So that ye were ensamples to all credentibus in Macedonia et in Achaia that believe in Macedonia and Achaia. 1:8 a vobis enim diffamatus est sermo 8. For from you sounded out the word Domini non solum in Macedonia et in of the Lord not only in Macedonia and Achaia sed in omni loco fides vestra Achaia, but also in every place your quae est ad Deum profecta est ita ut faith to God-ward is spread abroad; so non sit nobis necesse quicquam loqui that we need not to speak any thing. 1:9 ipsi enim de nobis adnuntiant 9. For they themselves shew of us what qualem introitum habuerimus ad vos et manner of entering in we had unto you, quomodo conversi estis ad Deum a and how ye turned to God from idols to simulacris servire Deo vivo et vero serve the living and true God; 1:10 et expectare Filium eius de 10. And to wait for his Son from caelis quem suscitavit ex mortuis Iesum heaven, whom he raised from the dead, qui eripuit nos ab ira ventura even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come.Select Another Chapter: | NT Menu | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | Top of Chapter | |
