But of the times and the seasons, fratres non indigetis ut scribamus vobis brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you. 5:2 ipsi enim diligenter scitis quia 2. For yourselves know perfectly that dies Domini sicut fur in nocte ita the day of the Lord so cometh as a veniet thief in the night. 5:3 cum enim dixerint pax et securitas 3. For when they shall say, Peace and tunc repentinus eis superveniet safety; then sudden destruction cometh interitus sicut dolor in utero habenti upon them, as travail upon a woman with et non effugient child; and they shall not escape. 5:4 vos autem fratres non estis in 4. But ye, brethren, are not in tenebris ut vos dies ille tamquam fur darkness, that that day should overtake conprehendat you as a thief. 5:5 omnes enim vos filii lucis estis 5. Ye are all the children of light, et filii diei non sumus noctis neque and the children of the day: we are not tenebrarum of the night, nor of darkness. 5:6 igitur non dormiamus sicut ceteri 6. Therefore let us not sleep, as do sed vigilemus et sobrii simus others; but let us watch and be sober. 5:7 qui enim dormiunt nocte dormiunt 7. For they that sleep sleep in the et qui ebrii sunt nocte ebrii sunt night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night. 5:8 nos autem qui diei sumus sobrii 8. But let us, who are of the day, be simus induti loricam fidei et caritatis sober, putting on the breastplate of et galeam spem salutis faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation. 5:9 quoniam non posuit nos Deus in 9. For God hath not appointed us to iram sed in adquisitionem salutis per wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Dominum nostrum Iesum Christum Lord Jesus Christ, 5:10 qui mortuus est pro nobis ut sive 10. Who died for us, that, whether we vigilemus sive dormiamus simul cum illo wake or sleep, we should live together vivamus with him. 5:11 propter quod consolamini invicem 11. Wherefore comfort yourselves et aedificate alterutrum sicut et together, and edify one another, even facitis as also ye do. 5:12 rogamus autem vos fratres ut 12. And we beseech you, brethren, to noveritis eos qui laborant inter vos et know them which labour among you, and praesunt vobis in Domino et monent vos are over you in the Lord, and admonish you; 5:13 ut habeatis illos abundantius in 13. And to esteem them very highly in caritate propter opus illorum pacem love for their work's sake. And be at habete cum eis peace among yourselves. 5:14 rogamus autem vos fratres 14. Now we exhort you, brethren, warn corripite inquietos consolamini them that are unruly, comfort the pusillianimes suscipite infirmos feebleminded, support the weak, be patientes estote ad omnes patient toward all men. 5:15 videte ne quis malum pro malo 15. See that none render evil for evil alicui reddat sed semper quod bonum est unto any man; but ever follow that sectamini et in invicem et in omnes which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men. 5:16 semper gaudete 16. Rejoice evermore. 5:17 sine intermissione orate 17. Pray without ceasing. 5:18 in omnibus gratias agite haec 18. In every thing give thanks: for enim voluntas Dei est in Christo Iesu this is the will of God in Christ Jesus in omnibus vobis concerning you. 5:19 Spiritum nolite extinguere 19. Quench not the Spirit. 5:20 prophetias nolite spernere 20. Despise not prophesyings. 5:21 omnia autem probate quod bonum 21. Prove all things; hold fast that est tenete which is good. 5:22 ab omni specie mala abstinete vos 22. Abstain from all appearance of evil. 5:23 ipse autem Deus pacis sanctificet 23. And the very God of peace sanctify vos per omnia et integer spiritus you wholly; and I pray God your whole vester et anima et corpus sine querella spirit and soul and body be preserved in adventu Domini nostri Iesu Christi blameless unto the coming of our Lord servetur Jesus Christ. 5:24 fidelis est qui vocavit vos qui 24. Faithful is he that calleth you, etiam faciet who also will do it. 5:25 fratres orate pro nobis 25. Brethren, pray for us. 5:26 salutate fratres omnes in osculo 26. Greet all the brethren with an sancto holy kiss. 5:27 adiuro vos per Dominum ut legatur 27. I charge you by the Lord that this Epistola omnibus sanctis fratribus epistle be read unto all the holy brethren. 5:28 gratia Domini nostri Iesu Christi 28.
