6:1 quicumque sunt sub iugo servi 1. Let as many servants as are under
dominos suos omni honore dignos the yoke count their own masters worthy
arbitrentur ne nomen Domini et doctrina of all honour, that the name of God and
blasphemetur his doctrine be not blasphemed.
6:2 qui autem fideles habent dominos 2. And they that have believing
non contemnant quia fratres sunt sed masters, let them not despise them,
magis serviant quia fideles sunt et because they are brethren; but rather
dilecti qui beneficii participes sunt do them service, because they are
haec doce et exhortare faithful and beloved, partakers of the
benefit. These things teach and exhort.
6:3 si quis aliter docet et non 3. If any man teach otherwise, and
adquiescit sanis sermonibus Domini consent not to wholesome words, even
nostri Iesu Christi et ei quae secundum the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and
pietatem est doctrinae to the doctrine which is according to
godliness;
6:4 superbus nihil sciens sed languens 4. He is proud, knowing nothing, but
circa quaestiones et pugnas verborum ex doting about questions and strifes of
quibus oriuntur invidiae contentiones words, whereof cometh envy, strife,
blasphemiae suspiciones malae railings, evil surmisings,
6:5 conflictationes hominum mente 5. Perverse disputings of men of
corruptorum et qui veritate privati corrupt minds, and destitute of the
sunt existimantium quaestum esse truth, supposing that gain is
pietatem godliness: from such withdraw thyself.
6:6 est autem quaestus magnus pietas 6. But godliness with contentment is
cum sufficientia great gain.
6:7 nihil enim intulimus in mundum 7. For we brought nothing into this
haut dubium quia nec auferre quid world, and it is certain we can carry
possumus nothing out.
6:8 habentes autem alimenta et quibus 8. And having food and raiment let us
tegamur his contenti sumus be therewith content.
6:9 nam qui volunt divites fieri 9. But they that will be rich fall
incidunt in temptationem et laqueum et into temptation and a snare, and into
desideria multa inutilia et nociva quae many foolish and hurtful lusts, which
mergunt homines in interitum et drown men in destruction and perdition.

6:10 radix enim omnium malorum est 10. For the love of money is the root
cupiditas quam quidam appetentes of all evil: which while some coveted
erraverunt a fide et inseruerunt se after, they have erred from the faith,
doloribus multis and pierced themselves through with
many sorrows.
6:11 tu autem o homo Dei haec fuge 11. But thou, O man of God, flee these
sectare vero iustitiam pietatem fidem things; and follow after righteousness,
caritatem patientiam mansuetudinem godliness, faith, love, patience,
meekness.
6:12 certa bonum certamen fidei 12. Fight the good fight of faith, lay
adprehende vitam aeternam in qua hold on eternal life, whereunto thou
vocatus es et confessus bonam art also called, and hast professed a
confessionem coram multis testibus good profession before many witnesses.
6:13 praecipio tibi coram Deo qui 13. I give thee charge in the sight of
vivificat omnia et Christo Iesu qui God, who quickeneth all things, and
testimonium reddidit sub Pontio Pilato before Christ Jesus, who before Pontius
bonam confessionem Pilate witnessed a good confession;
6:14 ut serves mandatum sine macula 14. That thou keep this commandment
inreprehensibile usque in adventum without spot, unrebukable, until the
Domini nostri Iesu Christi appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ:
6:15 quem suis temporibus ostendet 15. Which in his times he shall shew,
beatus et solus potens rex regum et who is the blessed and only Potentate,
Dominus dominantium the King of kings, and Lord of lords;
6:16 qui solus habet inmortalitatem 16. Who only hath immortality,
lucem habitans inaccessibilem quem dwelling in the light which no man can
vidit nullus hominum sed nec videre approach unto; whom no man hath seen,
potest cui honor et imperium nor can see: to whom be honour and
sempiternum amen power everlasting. Amen.
6:17 divitibus huius saeculi praecipe 17. Charge them that are rich in this
non sublime sapere neque sperare in world, that they be not highminded, nor
incerto divitiarum sed in Deo qui trust in uncertain riches, but in the
praestat nobis omnia abunde ad fruendum living God, who giveth us richly all
things to enjoy;
6:18 bene agere divites fieri in 18. That they do good, that they be
operibus bonis facile tribuere rich in good works, ready to
communicare distribute, willing to communicate;
6:19 thesaurizare sibi fundamentum 19. Laying up in store for themselves
bonum in futurum ut adprehendant veram a good foundation against the time to
vitam come, that they may lay hold on eternal
life.
6:20 o Timothee depositum custodi 20. O Timothy, keep that which is
devitans profanas vocum novitates et committed to thy trust, avoiding
oppositiones falsi nominis scientiae profane and vain babblings, and
oppositions of science falsely so
called:
6:21 quam quidam promittentes circa 21. Which some professing have erred
fidem exciderunt gratia tecum concerning the faith. Grace be with
thee. Amen.
