Stand fast therefore in the liberty servitutis contineri wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage. 5:2 ecce ego Paulus dico vobis quoniam 2. Behold, I Paul say unto you, that si circumcidamini Christus vobis nihil if ye be circumcised, Christ shall proderit profit you nothing. 5:3 testificor autem rursum omni 3. For I testify again to every man homini circumcidenti se quoniam debitor that is circumcised, that he is a est universae legis faciendae debtor to do the whole law. 5:4 evacuati estis a Christo qui in 4. Christ is become of no effect unto lege iustificamini a gratia excidistis you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace. 5:5 nos enim spiritu ex fide spem 5. For we through the Spirit wait for iustitiae expectamus the hope of righteousness by faith. 5:6 nam in Christo Iesu neque 6. For in Jesus Christ neither circumcisio aliquid valet neque circumcision availeth any thing, nor praeputium sed fides quae per caritatem uncircumcision; but faith which worketh operatur by love. 5:7 currebatis bene quis vos inpedivit 7. Ye did run well; who did hinder you veritati non oboedire that ye should not obey the truth? 5:8 persuasio non est ex eo qui vocat 8. This persuasion cometh not of him vos that calleth you. 5:9 modicum fermentum totam massam 9. A little leaven leaveneth the whole corrumpit lump. 5:10 ego confido in vobis in Domino 10. I have confidence in you through quod nihil aliud sapietis qui autem the Lord, that ye will be none conturbat vos portabit iudicium otherwise minded: but he that troubleth quicumque est ille you shall bear his judgment, whosoever he be. 5:11 ego autem fratres si 11. And I, brethren, if I yet preach circumcisionem adhuc praedico quid circumcision, why do I yet suffer adhuc persecutionem patior ergo persecution? then is the offence of the evacuatum est scandalum crucis cross ceased. 5:12 utinam et abscidantur qui vos 12. I would they were even cut off conturbant which trouble you. 5:13 vos enim in libertatem vocati 13. For, brethren, ye have been called estis fratres tantum ne libertatem in unto liberty; only use not liberty for occasionem detis carnis sed per an occasion to the flesh, but by love caritatem servite invicem serve one another. 5:14 omnis enim lex in uno sermone 14. For all the law is fulfilled in impletur diliges proximum tuum sicut te one word, even in this; Thou shalt love ipsum thy neighbour as thyself. 5:15 quod si invicem mordetis et 15. But if ye bite and devour one comeditis videte ne ab invicem another, take heed that ye be not consumamini consumed one of another. 5:16 dico autem spiritu ambulate et 16. This I say then, Walk in the desiderium carnis non perficietis Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. 5:17 caro enim concupiscit adversus 17. For the flesh lusteth against the spiritum spiritus autem adversus carnem Spirit, and the Spirit against the haec enim invicem adversantur ut non flesh: and these are contrary the one quaecumque vultis illa faciatis to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. 5:18 quod si spiritu ducimini non 18. But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye estis sub lege are not under the law. 5:19 manifesta autem sunt opera carnis 19. Now the works of the flesh are quae sunt fornicatio inmunditia luxuria manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, 5:20 idolorum servitus veneficia 20. Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, inimicitiae contentiones aemulationes variance, emulations, wrath, strife, irae rixae dissensiones sectae seditions, heresies, 5:21 invidiae homicidia ebrietates 21. Envyings, murders, drunkenness, comesationes et his similia quae revellings, and such like: of the which praedico vobis sicut praedixi quoniam I tell you before, as I have also told qui talia agunt regnum Dei non you in time past, that they which do consequentur such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. 5:22 fructus autem Spiritus est 22. But the fruit of the Spirit is caritas gaudium pax longanimitas love, joy, peace, longsuffering, bonitas benignitas gentleness, goodness, faith, 5:23 fides modestia continentia 23. Meekness, temperance: against such adversus huiusmodi non est lex there is no law. 5:24 qui autem sunt Christi carnem 24. And they that are Christ's have crucifixerunt cum vitiis et crucified the flesh with the affections concupiscentiis and lusts. 5:25 si vivimus spiritu spiritu et 25. If we live in the Spirit, let us ambulemus also walk in the Spirit. 5:26 non efficiamur inanis gloriae 26. Let us not be desirous of vain cupidi invicem provocantes invicem glory, provoking one another, envying invidentes one another.Select Another Chapter: | NT Menu | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | Top of Chapter | |
