And you hath he quickened, who were et peccatis vestris dead in trespasses and sins; 2:2 in quibus aliquando ambulastis 2. Wherein in time past ye walked secundum saeculum mundi huius secundum according to the course of this world, principem potestatis aeris huius according to the prince of the power of spiritus qui nunc operatur in filios the air, the spirit that now worketh in diffidentiae the children of disobedience: 2:3 in quibus et nos omnes aliquando 3. Among whom also we all had our conversati sumus in desideriis carnis conversation in times past in the lusts nostrae facientes voluntates carnis et of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of cogitationum et eramus natura filii the flesh and of the mind; and were by irae sicut et ceteri nature the children of wrath, even as others. 2:4 Deus autem qui dives est in 4. But God, who is rich in mercy, for misericordia propter nimiam caritatem his great love wherewith he loved us, suam qua dilexit nos 2:5 et cum essemus mortui peccatis 5. Even when we were dead in sins, convivificavit nos Christo gratia estis hath quickened us together with Christ, salvati (by grace ye are saved;) 2:6 et conresuscitavit et consedere 6. And hath raised us up together, and fecit in caelestibus in Christo Iesu made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: 2:7 ut ostenderet in saeculis 7. That in the ages to come he might supervenientibus abundantes divitias shew the exceeding riches of his grace gratiae suae in bonitate super nos in in his kindness toward us through Christo Iesu Christ Jesus. 2:8 gratia enim estis salvati per 8. For by grace are ye saved through fidem et hoc non ex vobis Dei enim faith; and that not of yourselves: it donum est is the gift of God: 2:9 non ex operibus ut ne quis 9. Not of works, lest any man should glorietur boast. 2:10 ipsius enim sumus factura creati 10. For we are his workmanship, in Christo Iesu in operibus bonis quae created in Christ Jesus unto good praeparavit Deus ut in illis ambulemus works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them. 2:11 propter quod memores estote quod 11. Wherefore remember, that ye being aliquando vos gentes in carne qui in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who dicimini praeputium ab ea quae dicitur are called Uncircumcision by that which circumcisio in carne manufacta is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands; 2:12 quia eratis illo in tempore sine 12. That at that time ye were without Christo alienati a conversatione Christ, being aliens from the Israhel et hospites testamentorum commonwealth of Israel, and strangers promissionis spem non habentes et sine from the covenants of promise, having Deo in mundo no hope, and without God in the world: 2:13 nunc autem in Christo Iesu vos 13. But now in Christ Jesus ye who qui aliquando eratis longe facti estis sometimes were far off are made nigh by prope in sanguine Christi the blood of Christ. 2:14 ipse est enim pax nostra qui 14. For he is our peace, who hath made fecit utraque unum et medium parietem both one, and hath broken down the maceriae solvens inimicitiam in carne middle wall of partition between us; sua 2:15 legem mandatorum decretis 15. Having abolished in his flesh the evacuans ut duos condat in semet ipsum enmity, even the law of commandments in unum novum hominem faciens pacem contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace; 2:16 et reconciliet ambos in uno 16. And that he might reconcile both corpore Deo per crucem interficiens unto God in one body by the cross, inimicitiam in semet ipso having slain the enmity thereby: 2:17 et veniens evangelizavit pacem 17. And came and preached peace to you vobis qui longe fuistis et pacem his which were afar off, and to them that qui prope were nigh. 2:18 quoniam per ipsum habemus 18. For through him we both have accessum ambo in uno Spiritu ad Patrem access by one Spirit unto the Father. 2:19 ergo iam non estis hospites et 19. Now therefore ye are no more advenae sed estis cives sanctorum et strangers and foreigners, but domestici Dei fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God; 2:20 superaedificati super fundamentum 20. And are built upon the foundation apostolorum et prophetarum ipso summo of the apostles and prophets, Jesus angulari lapide Christo Iesu Christ himself being the chief corner stone; 2:21 in quo omnis aedificatio 21. In whom all the building fitly constructa crescit in templum sanctum framed together groweth unto an holy in Domino temple in the Lord: 2:22 in quo et vos coaedificamini in 22. In whom ye also are builded habitaculum Dei in Spiritu together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.Select Another Chapter: | NT Menu | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | Top of Chapter | |
