of Sept. 1834. After a journey of 7 weeks he came to
Claybourne parish, Louisiana, where he was taken sick and
died, leaving his family among strangers. He had been a
preacher of the church of Christ for many years. Stone had
known him for more than 20 years. The information on his
death came from his wife Eleanor, dated Dec. 13, 1834, from
Claybourne parish.

1829. Died on third day of his illness. Barton W. Stone
wrote that he had known Bowman for 35 years. He was ordained
a Presbyterian preacher in North Carolina a short time before
Stone became acquainted with him. Some years later he moved
his family to Tennessee and united with the church of Christ.
