4:1 ideo habentes hanc ministrationem 1. Therefore seeing we have this
iuxta quod misericordiam consecuti ministry, as we have received mercy, we
sumus non deficimus                          faint not;

4:2 sed abdicamus occulta dedecoris 2. But have renounced the hidden
non ambulantes in astutia neque things of dishonesty, not walking in
adulterantes verbum Dei sed in craftiness, nor handling the word of
manifestatione veritatis commendantes God deceitfully; but by manifestation
nosmet ipsos ad omnem conscientiam of the truth commending ourselves to
hominum coram Deo every man's conscience in the sight of
                                             God.

4:3 quod si etiam opertum est 3. But if our gospel be hid, it is hid
evangelium nostrum in his qui pereunt to them that are lost:
est opertum

4:4 in quibus deus huius saeculi 4. In whom the god of this world hath
excaecavit mentes infidelium ut non blinded the minds of them which believe
fulgeat inluminatio evangelii gloriae not, lest the light of the glorious
Christi qui est imago Dei gospel of Christ, who is the image of
                                             God, should shine unto them.

4:5 non enim nosmet ipsos praedicamus 5. For we preach not ourselves, but
sed Iesum Christum Dominum nos autem Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves
servos vestros per Iesum your servants for Jesus' sake.

4:6 quoniam Deus qui dixit de tenebris 6. For God, who commanded the light to
lucem splendescere qui inluxit in shine out of darkness, hath shined in
cordibus nostris ad inluminationem our hearts, to give the light of the
scientiae claritatis Dei in facie knowledge of the glory of God in the
Christi Iesu face of Jesus Christ.

4:7 habemus autem thesaurum istum in 7. But we have this treasure in
vasis fictilibus ut sublimitas sit earthen vessels, that the excellency of
virtutis Dei et non ex nobis the power may be of God, and not of us.

4:8 in omnibus tribulationem patimur 8. We are troubled on every side, yet
sed non angustiamur aporiamur sed non not distressed; we are perplexed, but
destituimur                                  not in despair;

4:9 persecutionem patimur sed non 9. Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast
derelinquimur deicimur sed non perimus       down, but not destroyed;

4:10 semper mortificationem Iesu in 10. Always bearing about in the body
corpore nostro circumferentes ut et the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the
vita Iesu in corporibus nostris life also of Jesus might be made
manifestetur                                 manifest in our body.

4:11 semper enim nos qui vivimus in 11. For we which live are alway
mortem tradimur propter Iesum ut et delivered unto death for Jesus' sake,
vita Iesu manifestetur in carne nostra that the life also of Jesus might be
mortali made manifest in our mortal flesh.

4:12 ergo mors in nobis operatur vita 12. So then death worketh in us, but
autem in vobis life in you.

4:13 habentes autem eundem spiritum 13. We having the same spirit of
fidei sicut scriptum est credidi faith, according as it is written, I
propter quod locutus sum et nos              believed, and therefore have I spoken;
credimus propter quod et loquimur            we also believe, and therefore speak;

4:14 scientes quoniam qui suscitavit 14. Knowing that he which raised up
Iesum et nos cum Iesu suscitabit et the Lord Jesus shall raise up us also
constituet vobiscum by Jesus, and shall present us with you.

4:15 omnia enim propter vos ut gratia 15. For all things are for your sakes,
abundans per multos gratiarum actione that the abundant grace might through
abundet in gloriam Dei the thanksgiving of many redound to the
                                             glory of God.

4:16 propter quod non deficimus sed 16. For which cause we faint not; but
licet is qui foris est noster homo though our outward man perish, yet the
corrumpitur tamen is qui intus est inward man is renewed day by day.
renovatur de die in diem

4:17 id enim quod in praesenti est 17. For our light affliction, which is
momentaneum et leve tribulationis but for a moment, worketh for us a far
nostrae supra modum in sublimitatem more exceeding and eternal weight of
aeternum gloriae pondus operatur nobis       glory;

4:18 non contemplantibus nobis quae 18. While we look not at the things
videntur sed quae non videntur quae which are seen, but at the things which
enim videntur temporalia sunt quae are not seen: for the things which are
autem non videntur aeterna sunt seen are temporal; but the things which
                                             are not seen are eternal.
