9:1 nam de ministerio quod fit in 1. For as touching the ministering to
sanctos ex abundanti est mihi scribere the saints, it is superfluous for me to
vobis write to you:

9:2 scio enim promptum animum vestrum 2. For I know the forwardness of your
pro quo de vobis glorior apud Macedonas mind, for which I boast of you to them
quoniam Achaia parata est ab anno of Macedonia, that Achaia was ready a
praeterito et vestra aemulatio year ago; and your zeal hath provoked
provocavit plurimos very many.

9:3 misi autem fratres ut ne quod 3. Yet have I sent the brethren, lest
gloriamur de vobis evacuetur in hac our boasting of you should be in vain
parte ut quemadmodum dixi parati sitis in this behalf; that, as I said, ye may
                                             be ready:

9:4 ne cum venerint mecum Macedones et 4. Lest haply if they of Macedonia
invenerint vos inparatos erubescamus come with me, and find you unprepared,
nos ut non dicamus vos in hac substantia we (that we say not, ye) should be
ashamed in this same confident boasting.

9:5 necessarium ergo existimavi rogare 5. Therefore I thought it necessary to
fratres ut praeveniant ad vos et exhort the brethren, that they would go
praeparent repromissam benedictionem before unto you, and make up beforehand
hanc paratam esse sic quasi your bounty, whereof ye had notice
benedictionem non quasi avaritiam before, that the same might be ready,
as a matter of bounty, and not as of
                                             covetousness.

9:6 hoc autem qui parce seminat parce 6. But this I say, He which soweth
et metet et qui seminat in                   sparingly shall reap also sparingly;
benedictionibus de benedictionibus et and he which soweth bountifully shall
metet reap also bountifully.

9:7 unusquisque prout destinavit corde 7. Every man according as he purposeth
suo non ex tristitia aut ex necessitate in his heart, so let him give; not
hilarem enim datorem diligit Deus grudgingly, or of necessity: for God
                                             loveth a cheerful giver.

9:8 potens est autem Deus omnem 8. And God is able to make all grace
gratiam abundare facere in vobis ut in abound toward you; that ye, always
omnibus semper omnem sufficientiam having all sufficiency in all things,
habentes abundetis in omne opus bonum may abound to every good work:

9:9 sicut scriptum est dispersit dedit 9. (As it is written, He hath
pauperibus iustitia eius manet in dispersed abroad; he hath given to the
aeternum poor: his righteousness remaineth for
                                             ever.

9:10 qui autem administrat semen 10. Now he that ministereth seed to
seminanti et panem ad manducandum the sower both minister bread for your
praestabit et multiplicabit semen food, and multiply your seed sown, and
vestrum et augebit incrementa frugum increase the fruits of your
iustitiae vestrae righteousness;)

9:11 ut in omnibus locupletati 11. Being enriched in every thing to
abundetis in omnem simplicitatem quae all bountifulness, which causeth
operatur per nos gratiarum actionem Deo through us thanksgiving to God.

9:12 quoniam ministerium huius officii 12. For the administration of this
non solum supplet ea quae desunt service not only supplieth the want of
sanctis sed etiam abundat per multas the saints, but is abundant also by
gratiarum actiones in Domino                 many thanksgivings unto God;

9:13 per probationem ministerii huius 13. Whiles by the experiment of this
glorificantes Deum in oboedientia ministration they glorify God for your
confessionis vestrae in evangelium professed subjection unto the gospel of
Christi et simplicitate communicationis Christ, and for your liberal
in illos et in omnes distribution unto them, and unto all
                                             men;

9:14 et ipsorum obsecratione pro vobis 14. And by their prayer for you, which
desiderantium vos propter eminentem long after you for the exceeding grace
gratiam Dei in vobis of God in you.

9:15 gratias Deo super inenarrabili 15. Thanks be unto God for his
dono eius unspeakable gift.
