God, who at sundry times and in Deus loquens patribus in prophetis divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, 1:2 novissime diebus istis locutus est 2. Hath in these last days spoken unto nobis in Filio quem constituit heredem us by his Son, whom he hath appointed universorum per quem fecit et saecula heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; 1:3 qui cum sit splendor gloriae et 3. Who being the brightness of his figura substantiae eius portansque glory, and the express image of his omnia verbo virtutis suae purgationem person, and upholding all things by the peccatorum faciens sedit ad dexteram word of his power, when he had by Maiestatis in excelsis himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high: 1:4 tanto melior angelis effectus 4. Being made so much better than the quanto differentius prae illis nomen angels, as he hath by inheritance hereditavit obtained a more excellent name than they. 1:5 cui enim dixit aliquando angelorum 5. For unto which of the angels said Filius meus es tu ego hodie genui te et he at any time, Thou art my Son, this rursum ego ero illi in Patrem et ipse day have I begotten thee? And again, I erit mihi in Filium will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son? 1:6 et cum iterum introducit 6. And again, when he bringeth in the primogenitum in orbem terrae dicit et firstbegotten into the world, he saith, adorent eum omnes angeli Dei And let all the angels of God worship him. 1:7 et ad angelos quidem dicit qui 7. And of the angels he saith, Who facit angelos suos spiritus et maketh his angels spirits, and his ministros suos flammam ignis ministers a flame of fire. 1:8 ad Filium autem thronus tuus Deus 8. But unto the Son he saith, Thy in saeculum saeculi et virga aequitatis throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a virga regni tui sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom. 1:9 dilexisti iustitiam et odisti 9. Thou hast loved righteousness, and iniquitatem propterea unxit te Deus hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy Deus tuus oleo exultationis prae God, hath anointed thee with the oil of participibus tuis gladness above thy fellows. 1:10 et tu in principio Domine terram 10. And, Thou, Lord, in the beginning fundasti et opera manuum tuarum sunt hast laid the foundation of the earth; caeli and the heavens are the works of thine hands: 1:11 ipsi peribunt tu autem permanebis 11. They shall perish; but thou et omnes ut vestimentum veterescent remainest; and they all shall wax old as doth a garment; 1:12 et velut amictum involves eos et 12. And as a vesture shalt thou fold mutabuntur tu autem idem es et anni tui them up, and they shall be changed: but non deficient thou art the same, and thy years shall not fail. 1:13 ad quem autem angelorum dixit 13. But to which of the angels said he aliquando sede a dextris meis at any time, Sit on my right hand, quoadusque ponam inimicos tuos until I make thine enemies thy scabillum pedum tuorum footstool? 1:14 nonne omnes sunt administratorii 14.
