1:1 multifariam et multis modis olim 1. God, who at sundry times and in
Deus loquens patribus in prophetis divers manners spake in time past unto
                                             the fathers by the prophets,

1:2 novissime diebus istis locutus est 2. Hath in these last days spoken unto
nobis in Filio quem constituit heredem us by his Son, whom he hath appointed
universorum per quem fecit et saecula heir of all things, by whom also he
                                             made the worlds;

1:3 qui cum sit splendor gloriae et 3. Who being the brightness of his
figura substantiae eius portansque glory, and the express image of his
omnia verbo virtutis suae purgationem person, and upholding all things by the
peccatorum faciens sedit ad dexteram word of his power, when he had by
Maiestatis in excelsis himself purged our sins, sat down on
                                             the right hand of the Majesty on high:

1:4 tanto melior angelis effectus 4. Being made so much better than the
quanto differentius prae illis nomen angels, as he hath by inheritance
hereditavit obtained a more excellent name than
                                             they.

1:5 cui enim dixit aliquando angelorum 5. For unto which of the angels said
Filius meus es tu ego hodie genui te et he at any time, Thou art my Son, this
rursum ego ero illi in Patrem et ipse day have I begotten thee? And again, I
erit mihi in Filium will be to him a Father, and he shall
                                             be to me a Son?

1:6 et cum iterum introducit 6. And again, when he bringeth in the
primogenitum in orbem terrae dicit et firstbegotten into the world, he saith,
adorent eum omnes angeli Dei And let all the angels of God worship
                                             him.

1:7 et ad angelos quidem dicit qui 7. And of the angels he saith, Who
facit angelos suos spiritus et maketh his angels spirits, and his
ministros suos flammam ignis ministers a flame of fire.

1:8 ad Filium autem thronus tuus Deus 8. But unto the Son he saith, Thy
in saeculum saeculi et virga aequitatis throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a
virga regni tui sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre
                                             of thy kingdom.

1:9 dilexisti iustitiam et odisti 9. Thou hast loved righteousness, and
iniquitatem propterea unxit te Deus hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy
Deus tuus oleo exultationis prae God, hath anointed thee with the oil of
participibus tuis gladness above thy fellows.

1:10 et tu in principio Domine terram 10. And, Thou, Lord, in the beginning
fundasti et opera manuum tuarum sunt         hast laid the foundation of the earth;
caeli and the heavens are the works of thine
                                             hands:

1:11 ipsi peribunt tu autem permanebis 11. They shall perish; but thou
et omnes ut vestimentum veterescent remainest; and they all shall wax old
                                             as doth a garment;

1:12 et velut amictum involves eos et 12. And as a vesture shalt thou fold
mutabuntur tu autem idem es et anni tui them up, and they shall be changed: but
non deficient thou art the same, and thy years shall
                                             not fail.

1:13 ad quem autem angelorum dixit 13. But to which of the angels said he
aliquando sede a dextris meis at any time, Sit on my right hand,
quoadusque ponam inimicos tuos until I make thine enemies thy
scabillum pedum tuorum                       footstool?

1:14 nonne omnes sunt administratorii 14. Are they not all ministering
spiritus in ministerium missi propter spirits, sent forth to minister for
eos qui hereditatem capient salutis them who shall be heirs of salvation?
