Now concerning spiritual gifts, ignorare fratres brethren, I would not have you ignorant. 12:2 scitis quoniam cum gentes essetis 2. Ye know that ye were Gentiles, ad simulacra muta prout ducebamini carried away unto these dumb idols, euntes even as ye were led. 12:3 ideo notum vobis facio quod nemo 3. Wherefore I give you to understand, in Spiritu Dei loquens dicit anathema that no man speaking by the Spirit of Iesu et nemo potest dicere Dominus God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no Iesus nisi in Spiritu Sancto man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost. 12:4 divisiones vero gratiarum sunt 4. Now there are diversities of gifts, idem autem Spiritus but the same Spirit. 12:5 et divisiones ministrationum sunt 5. And there are differences of idem autem Dominus administrations, but the same Lord. 12:6 et divisiones operationum sunt 6. And there are diversities of idem vero Deus qui operatur omnia in operations, but it is the same God omnibus which worketh all in all. 12:7 unicuique autem datur 7. But the manifestation of the Spirit manifestatio Spiritus ad utilitatem is given to every man to profit withal. 12:8 alii quidem per Spiritum datur 8. For to one is given by the Spirit sermo sapientiae alii autem sermo the word of wisdom; to another the word scientiae secundum eundem Spiritum of knowledge by the same Spirit; 12:9 alteri fides in eodem Spiritu 9. To another faith by the same alii gratia sanitatum in uno Spiritu Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; 12:10 alii operatio virtutum alii 10. To another the working of prophetatio alii discretio spirituum miracles; to another prophecy; to alii genera linguarum alii another discerning of spirits; to interpretatio sermonum another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: 12:11 haec autem omnia operatur unus 11. But all these worketh that one and atque idem Spiritus dividens singulis the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every prout vult man severally as he will. 12:12 sicut enim corpus unum est et 12. For as the body is one, and hath membra habet multa omnia autem membra many members, and all the members of corporis cum sint multa unum corpus that one body, being many, are one sunt ita et Christus body: so also is Christ. 12:13 etenim in uno Spiritu omnes nos 13. For by one Spirit are we all in unum corpus baptizati sumus sive baptized into one body, whether we be Iudaei sive gentiles sive servi sive Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or liberi et omnes unum Spiritum potati free; and have been all made to drink sumus into one Spirit. 12:14 nam et corpus non est unum 14. For the body is not one member, membrum sed multa but many. 12:15 si dixerit pes quoniam non sum 15. If the foot shall say, Because I manus non sum de corpore non ideo non am not the hand, I am not of the body; est de corpore is it therefore not of the body? 12:16 et si dixerit auris quia non sum 16. And if the ear shall say, Because oculus non sum de corpore non ideo non I am not the eye, I am not of the body; est de corpore is it therefore not of the body? 12:17 si totum corpus oculus ubi 17. If the whole body were an eye, auditus si totum auditus ubi odoratus where were the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where were the smelling? 12:18 nunc autem posuit Deus membra 18. But now hath God set the members unumquodque eorum in corpore sicut every one of them in the body, as it voluit hath pleased him. 12:19 quod si essent omnia unum 19. And if they were all one member, membrum ubi corpus where were the body? 12:20 nunc autem multa quidem membra 20. But now are they many members, yet unum autem corpus but one body. 12:21 non potest dicere oculus manui 21. And the eye cannot say unto the opera tua non indigeo aut iterum caput hand, I have no need of thee: nor again pedibus non estis mihi necessarii the head to the feet, I have no need of you. 12:22 sed multo magis quae videntur 22. Nay, much more those members of membra corporis infirmiora esse the body, which seem to be more feeble, necessariora sunt are necessary: 12:23 et quae putamus ignobiliora 23. And those members of the body, membra esse corporis his honorem which we think to be less honourable, abundantiorem circumdamus et quae upon these we bestow more abundant inhonesta sunt nostra abundantiorem honour; and our uncomely parts have honestatem habent more abundant comeliness. 12:24 honesta autem nostra nullius 24. For our comely parts have no need: egent sed Deus temperavit corpus ei cui but God hath tempered the body deerat abundantiorem tribuendo honorem together, having given more abundant honour to that part which lacked. 12:25 ut non sit scisma in corpore sed 25. That there should be no schism in id ipsum pro invicem sollicita sint the body; but that the members should membra have the same care one for another. 12:26 et si quid patitur unum membrum 26. And whether one member suffer, all conpatiuntur omnia membra sive the members suffer with it; or one gloriatur unum membrum congaudent omnia member be honoured, all the members membra rejoice with it. 12:27 vos autem estis corpus Christi 27. Now ye are the body of Christ, and et membra de membro members in particular. 12:28 et quosdam quidem posuit Deus in 28. And God hath set some in the ecclesia primum apostolos secundo church, first apostles, secondarily prophetas tertio doctores deinde prophets, thirdly teachers, after that virtutes exin gratias curationum miracles, then gifts of healings, opitulationes gubernationes genera helps, governments, diversities of linguarum tongues. 12:29 numquid omnes apostoli numquid 29. Are all apostles? are all omnes prophetae numquid omnes doctores prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles? 12:30 numquid omnes virtutes numquid 30. Have all the gifts of healing? do omnes gratiam habent curationum numquid all speak with tongues? do all omnes linguis loquuntur numquid omnes interpret? interpretantur 12:31 aemulamini autem charismata 31.
