5:1 omnino auditur inter vos 1. It is reported commonly that there
fornicatio et talis fornicatio qualis is fornication among you, and such
nec inter gentes ita ut uxorem patris fornication as is not so much as named
aliquis habeat among the Gentiles, that one should
                                             have his father's wife.

5:2 et vos inflati estis et non magis 2. And ye are puffed up, and have not
luctum habuistis ut tollatur de medio rather mourned, that he that hath done
vestrum qui hoc opus fecit this deed might be taken away from
                                             among you.

5:3 ego quidem absens corpore praesens 3. For I verily, as absent in body,
autem spiritu iam iudicavi ut praesens but present in spirit, have judged
eum qui sic operatus est already, as though I were present,
concerning him that hath so done this
                                             deed,

5:4 in nomine Domini nostri Iesu 4. In the name of our Lord Jesus
Christi congregatis vobis et meo Christ, when ye are gathered together,
spiritu cum virtute Domini Iesu and my spirit, with the power of our
                                             Lord Jesus Christ,

5:5 tradere huiusmodi Satanae in 5. To deliver such an one unto Satan
interitum carnis ut spiritus salvus sit for the destruction of the flesh, that
in die Domini Iesu the spirit may be saved in the day of
                                             the Lord Jesus.

5:6 non bona gloriatio vestra nescitis 6. Your glorying is not good. Know ye
quia modicum fermentum totam massam not that a little leaven leaveneth the
corrumpit whole lump?

5:7 expurgate vetus fermentum ut sitis 7. Purge out therefore the old leaven,
nova consparsio sicut estis azymi that ye may be a new lump, as ye are
etenim pascha nostrum immolatus est unleavened. For even Christ our
Christus passover is sacrificed for us:

5:8 itaque epulemur non in fermento 8. Therefore let us keep the feast,
veteri neque in fermento malitiae et not with old leaven, neither with the
nequitiae sed in azymis sinceritatis et leaven of malice and wickedness; but
veritatis with the unleavened bread of sincerity
                                             and truth.

5:9 scripsi vobis in Epistola ne 9. I wrote unto you in an epistle not
commisceamini fornicariis to company with fornicators:

5:10 non utique fornicariis huius 10. Yet not altogether with the
mundi aut avaris aut rapacibus aut fornicators of this world, or with the
idolis servientibus alioquin debueratis covetous, or extortioners, or with
de hoc mundo exisse idolaters; for then must ye needs go
                                             out of the world.

5:11 nunc autem scripsi vobis non 11. But now I have written unto you
commisceri si is qui frater nominatur not to keep company, if any man that is
est fornicator aut avarus aut idolis called a brother be a fornicator, or
serviens aut maledicus aut ebriosus aut covetous, or an idolater, or a railer,
rapax cum eiusmodi nec cibum sumere or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with
such an one no not to eat.

5:12 quid enim mihi de his qui foris 12. For what have I to do to judge
sunt iudicare nonne de his qui intus them also that are without? do not ye
sunt vos iudicatis judge them that are within?

5:13 nam eos qui foris sunt Deus 13. But them that are without God
iudicabit auferte malum ex vobis ipsis judgeth. Therefore put away from among
                                             yourselves that wicked person.
