Now concerning the things whereof est homini mulierem non tangere ye wrote unto me: It is good for a man not to touch a woman. 7:2 propter fornicationes autem 2. Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, unusquisque suam uxorem habeat et let every man have his own wife, and unaquaeque suum virum habeat let every woman have her own husband. 7:3 uxori vir debitum reddat similiter 3. Let the husband render unto the autem et uxor viro wife due benevolence: and likewise also the wife unto the husband. 7:4 mulier sui corporis potestatem non 4. The wife hath not power of her own habet sed vir similiter autem et vir body, but the husband: and likewise sui corporis potestatem non habet sed also the husband hath not power of his mulier own body, but the wife. 7:5 nolite fraudare invicem nisi forte 5. Defraud ye not one the other, ex consensu ad tempus ut vacetis except it be with consent for a time, orationi et iterum revertimini in id that ye may give yourselves to fasting ipsum ne temptet vos Satanas propter and prayer; and come together again, incontinentiam vestram that Satan tempt you not for your incontinency. 7:6 hoc autem dico secundum 6. But I speak this by permission, and indulgentiam non secundum imperium not of commandment. 7:7 volo autem omnes homines esse 7. For I would that all men were even sicut me ipsum sed unusquisque proprium as I myself. But every man hath his habet donum ex Deo alius quidem sic proper gift of God, one after this alius vero sic manner, and another after that. 7:8 dico autem non nuptis et viduis 8. I say therefore to the unmarried bonum est illis si sic maneant sicut et and widows, It is good for them if they ego abide even as I. 7:9 quod si non se continent nubant 9. But if they cannot contain, let melius est enim nubere quam uri them marry: for it is better to marry than to burn. 7:10 his autem qui matrimonio iuncti 10. And unto the married I command, sunt praecipio non ego sed Dominus yet not I, but the Lord, Let not the uxorem a viro non discedere wife depart from her husband: 7:11 quod si discesserit manere 11. But and if she depart, let her innuptam aut viro suo reconciliari et remain unmarried or be reconciled to vir uxorem ne dimittat her husband: and let not the husband put away his wife. 7:12 nam ceteris ego dico non Dominus 12. But to the rest speak I, not the si quis frater uxorem habet infidelem Lord: If any brother hath a wife that et haec consentit habitare cum illo non believeth not, and she be pleased to dimittat illam dwell with him, let him not put her away. 7:13 et si qua mulier habet virum 13. And the woman which hath an infidelem et hic consentit habitare cum husband that believeth not, and if he illa non dimittat virum be pleased to dwell with her, let her not leave him. 7:14 sanctificatus est enim vir 14. For the unbelieving husband is infidelis in muliere fideli et sanctified by the wife, and the sanctificata est mulier infidelis per unbelieving wife is sanctified by the virum fidelem alioquin filii vestri husband: else were your children inmundi essent nunc autem sancti sunt unclean; but now are they holy. 7:15 quod si infidelis discedit 15. But if the unbelieving depart, let discedat non est enim servituti him depart. A brother or a sister is subiectus frater aut soror in eiusmodi not under bondage in such cases: but in pace autem vocavit nos Deus God hath called us to peace. 7:16 unde enim scis mulier si virum 16. For what knowest thou, O wife, salvum facies aut unde scis vir si whether thou shalt save thy husband? or mulierem salvam facies how knowest thou, O man, whether thou shalt save thy wife? 7:17 nisi unicuique sicut divisit 17. But as God hath distributed to Dominus unumquemque sicut vocavit Deus every man, as the Lord hath called ita ambulet et sic in omnibus ecclesiis every one, so let him walk. And so doceo ordain I in all churches. 7:18 circumcisus aliquis vocatus est 18. Is any man called being non adducat praeputium in praeputio circumcised? let him not become aliquis vocatus est non circumcidatur uncircumcised. Is any called in uncircumcision? let him not be circumcised. 7:19 circumcisio nihil est et 19. Circumcision is nothing, and praeputium nihil est sed observatio uncircumcision is nothing, but the mandatorum Dei keeping of the commandments of God. 7:20 unusquisque in qua vocatione 20. Let every man abide in the same vocatus est in ea permaneat calling wherein he was called. 7:21 servus vocatus es non sit tibi 21. Art thou called being a servant? curae sed et si potes liber fieri magis care not for it: but if thou mayest be utere made free, use it rather. 7:22 qui enim in Domino vocatus est 22. For he that is called in the Lord, servus libertus est Domini similiter being a servant, is the Lord's freeman: qui liber vocatus est servus est Christi likewise also he that is called, being free, is Christ's servant. 7:23 pretio empti estis nolite fieri 23. Ye are bought with a price; be not servi hominum ye the servants of men. 7:24 unusquisque in quo vocatus est 24. Brethren, let every man, wherein fratres in hoc maneat apud Deum he is called, therein abide with God. 7:25 de virginibus autem praeceptum 25. Now concerning virgins I have no Domini non habeo consilium autem do commandment of the Lord: yet I give my tamquam misericordiam consecutus a judgment, as one that hath obtained Domino ut sim fidelis mercy of the Lord to be faithful. 7:26 existimo ergo hoc bonum esse 26. I suppose therefore that this is propter instantem necessitatem quoniam good for the present distress, I say, bonum est homini sic esse that it is good for a man so to be. 7:27 alligatus es uxori noli quaerere 27. Art thou bound unto a wife? seek solutionem solutus es ab uxore noli not to be loosed. Art thou loosed from quaerere uxorem a wife? seek not a wife. 7:28 si autem acceperis uxorem non 28. But and if thou marry, thou hast peccasti et si nupserit virgo non not sinned; and if a virgin marry, she peccavit tribulationem tamen carnis hath not sinned. Nevertheless such habebunt huiusmodi ego autem vobis parco shall have trouble in the flesh: but I spare you. 7:29 hoc itaque dico fratres tempus 29. But this I say, brethren, the time breve est reliquum est ut qui habent is short: it remaineth, that both they uxores tamquam non habentes sint that have wives be as though they had none; 7:30 et qui flent tamquam non flentes 30. And they that weep, as though they et qui gaudent tamquam non gaudentes et wept not; and they that rejoice, as qui emunt tamquam non possidentes though they rejoiced not; and they that buy, as though they possessed not; 7:31 et qui utuntur hoc mundo tamquam 31. And they that use this world, as non utantur praeterit enim figura huius not abusing it: for the fashion of this mundi world passeth away. 7:32 volo autem vos sine sollicitudine 32. But I would have you without esse qui sine uxore est sollicitus est carefulness. He that is unmarried quae Domini sunt quomodo placeat Deo careth for the things that belong to the Lord, how he may please the Lord: 7:33 qui autem cum uxore est 33. But he that is married careth for sollicitus est quae sunt mundi quomodo the things that are of the world, how placeat uxori et divisus est he may please his wife. 7:34 et mulier innupta et virgo 34. There is difference also between a cogitat quae Domini sunt ut sit sancta wife and a virgin. The unmarried woman et corpore et spiritu quae autem nupta careth for the things of the Lord, that est cogitat quae sunt mundi quomodo she may be holy both in body and in placeat viro spirit: but she that is married careth for the things of the world, how she may please her husband. 7:35 porro hoc ad utilitatem vestram 35. And this I speak for your own dico non ut laqueum vobis iniciam sed profit; not that I may cast a snare ad id quod honestum est et quod upon you, but for that which is comely, facultatem praebeat sine inpedimento and that ye may attend upon the Lord Dominum observandi without distraction. 7:36 si quis autem turpem se videri 36. But if any man think that he existimat super virgine sua quod sit behaveth himself uncomely toward his superadulta et ita oportet fieri quod virgin, if she pass the flower of her vult faciat non peccat nubat age, and need so require, let him do what he will, he sinneth not: let them marry. 7:37 nam qui statuit in corde suo 37. Nevertheless he that standeth firmus non habens necessitatem stedfast in his heart, having no potestatem autem habet suae voluntatis necessity, but hath power over his own et hoc iudicavit in corde suo servare will, and hath so decreed in his heart virginem suam bene facit that he will keep his virgin, doeth well. 7:38 igitur et qui matrimonio iungit 38. So then he that giveth her in virginem suam bene facit et qui non marriage doeth well; but he that giveth iungit melius facit her not in marriage doeth better. 7:39 mulier alligata est quanto 39. The wife is bound by the law as tempore vir eius vivit quod si long as her husband liveth; but if her dormierit vir eius liberata est cui husband be dead, she is at liberty to vult nubat tantum in Domino be married to whom she will; only in the Lord. 7:40 beatior autem erit si sic 40.
