Let a man so account of us, as of ministros Christi et dispensatores the ministers of Christ, and stewards mysteriorum Dei of the mysteries of God. 4:2 hic iam quaeritur inter 2. Moreover it is required in dispensatores ut fidelis quis inveniatur stewards, that a man be found faithful. 4:3 mihi autem pro minimo est ut a 3. But with me it is a very small vobis iudicer aut ab humano die sed thing that I should be judged of you, neque me ipsum iudico or of man's judgment: yea, I judge not mine own self. 4:4 nihil enim mihi conscius sum sed 4. For I know nothing by myself; yet non in hoc iustificatus sum qui autem am I not hereby justified: but he that iudicat me Dominus est judgeth me is the Lord. 4:5 itaque nolite ante tempus iudicare 5. Therefore judge nothing before the quoadusque veniat Dominus qui et time, until the Lord come, who both inluminabit abscondita tenebrarum et will bring to light the hidden things manifestabit consilia cordium et tunc of darkness, and will make manifest the laus erit unicuique a Deo counsels of the hearts: and then shall every man have praise of God. 4:6 haec autem fratres transfiguravi 6. And these things, brethren, I have in me et Apollo propter vos ut in nobis in a figure transferred to myself and discatis ne supra quam scriptum est to Apollos for your sakes; that ye unus adversus alterum infletur pro alio might learn in us not to think of men above that which is written, that no one of you be puffed up for one against another. 4:7 quis enim te discernit quid autem 7. For who maketh thee to differ from habes quod non accepisti si autem another? and what hast thou that thou accepisti quid gloriaris quasi non didst not receive? now if thou didst acceperis receive it, why dost thou glory, as if thou hadst not received it? 4:8 iam saturati estis iam divites 8. Now ye are full, now ye are rich, facti estis sine nobis regnastis et ye have reigned as kings without us: utinam regnaretis ut et nos vobiscum and I would to God ye did reign, that regnaremus we also might reign with you. 4:9 puto enim Deus nos apostolos 9. For I think that God hath set forth novissimos ostendit tamquam morti us the apostles last, as it were destinatos quia spectaculum facti sumus appointed to death: for we are made a mundo et angelis et hominibus spectacle unto the world, and to angels, and to men. 4:10 nos stulti propter Christum vos 10. We are fools for Christ's sake, autem prudentes in Christo nos infirmi but ye are wise in Christ; we are weak, vos autem fortes vos nobiles nos autem but ye are strong; ye are honourable, ignobiles but we are despised. 4:11 usque in hanc horam et esurimus 11. Even unto this present hour we et sitimus et nudi sumus et colaphis both hunger, and thirst, and are naked, caedimur et instabiles sumus and are buffeted, and have no certain dwellingplace; 4:12 et laboramus operantes manibus 12. And labour, working with our own nostris maledicimur et benedicimus hands: being reviled, we bless; being persecutionem patimur et sustinemus persecuted, we suffer it: 4:13 blasphemamur et obsecramus 13. Being defamed, we intreat: we are tamquam purgamenta huius mundi facti made as the filth of the world, and are sumus omnium peripsima usque adhuc the offscouring of all things unto this day. 4:14 non ut confundam vos haec scribo 14. I write not these things to shame sed ut filios meos carissimos moneo you, but as my beloved sons I warn you. 4:15 nam si decem milia pedagogorum 15. For though ye have ten thousand habeatis in Christo sed non multos instructers in Christ, yet have ye not patres nam in Christo Iesu per many fathers: for in Christ Jesus I evangelium ego vos genui have begotten you through the gospel. 4:16 rogo ergo vos imitatores mei 16. Wherefore I beseech you, be ye estote followers of me. 4:17 ideo misi ad vos Timotheum qui 17. For this cause have I sent unto est filius meus carissimus et fidelis you Timotheus, who is my beloved son, in Domino qui vos commonefaciat vias and faithful in the Lord, who shall meas quae sunt in Christo sicut ubique bring you into remembrance of my ways in omni ecclesia doceo which be in Christ, as I teach every where in every church. 4:18 tamquam non venturus sim ad vos 18. Now some are puffed up, as though sic inflati sunt quidam I would not come to you. 4:19 veniam autem cito ad vos si 19. But I will come to you shortly, if Dominus voluerit et cognoscam non the Lord will, and will know, not the sermonem eorum qui inflati sunt sed speech of them which are puffed up, but virtutem the power. 4:20 non enim in sermone est regnum 20. For the kingdom of God is not in Dei sed in virtute word, but in power. 4:21 quid vultis in virga veniam ad 21.
