15:1 notum autem vobis facio fratres 1. Moreover, brethren, I declare unto
evangelium quod praedicavi vobis quod you the gospel which I preached unto
et accepistis in quo et statis you, which also ye have received, and
wherein ye stand;
15:2 per quod et salvamini qua ratione 2. By which also ye are saved, if ye
praedicaverim vobis si tenetis nisi si keep in memory what I preached unto
frustra credidistis you, unless ye have believed in vain.
15:3 tradidi enim vobis in primis quod 3. For I delivered unto you first of
et accepi quoniam Christus mortuus est all that which I also received, how
pro peccatis nostris secundum scripturas that Christ died for our sins according
to the scriptures;
15:4 et quia sepultus est et quia 4. And that he was buried, and that he
resurrexit tertia die secundum rose again the third day according to
scripturas the scriptures:
15:5 et quia visus est Cephae et post 5. And that he was seen of Cephas,
haec undecim then of the twelve:
15:6 deinde visus est plus quam 6. After that, he was seen of above
quingentis fratribus simul ex quibus five hundred brethren at once; of whom
multi manent usque adhuc quidam autem the greater part remain unto this
dormierunt present, but some are fallen asleep.
15:7 deinde visus est Iacobo deinde 7. After that, he was seen of James;
apostolis omnibus then of all the apostles.
15:8 novissime autem omnium tamquam 8. And last of all he was seen of me
abortivo visus est et mihi also, as of one born out of due time.
15:9 ego enim sum minimus apostolorum 9. For I am the least of the apostles,
qui non sum dignus vocari apostolus that am not meet to be called an
quoniam persecutus sum ecclesiam Dei apostle, because I persecuted the
church of God.
15:10 gratia autem Dei sum id quod sum 10. But by the grace of God I am what
et gratia eius in me vacua non fuit sed I am: and his grace which was bestowed
abundantius illis omnibus laboravi non upon me was not in vain; but I laboured
ego autem sed gratia Dei mecum more abundantly than they all: yet not
I, but the grace of God which was with
me.
15:11 sive enim ego sive illi sic 11. Therefore whether it were I or
praedicamus et sic credidistis they, so we preach, and so ye believed.
15:12 si autem Christus praedicatur 12. Now if Christ be preached that he
quod resurrexit a mortuis quomodo rose from the dead, how say some among
quidam dicunt in vobis quoniam you that there is no resurrection of
resurrectio mortuorum non est the dead?
15:13 si autem resurrectio mortuorum 13. But if there be no resurrection of
non est neque Christus resurrexit the dead, then is Christ not risen:
15:14 si autem Christus non resurrexit 14. And if Christ be not risen, then
inanis est ergo praedicatio nostra is our preaching vain, and your faith
inanis est et fides vestra is also vain.
15:15 invenimur autem et falsi testes 15. Yea, and we are found false
Dei quoniam testimonium diximus witnesses of God; because we have
adversus Deum quod suscitaverit testified of God that he raised up
Christum quem non suscitavit si mortui Christ: whom he raised not up, if so be
non resurgunt that the dead rise not.
15:16 nam si mortui non resurgunt 16. For if the dead rise not, then is
neque Christus resurrexit not Christ raised:
15:17 quod si Christus non resurrexit 17. And if Christ be not raised, your
vana est fides vestra adhuc enim estis faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins.

15:18 ergo et qui dormierunt in 18. Then they also which are fallen
Christo perierunt asleep in Christ are perished.
15:19 si in hac vita tantum in Christo 19. If in this life only we have hope
sperantes sumus miserabiliores sumus in Christ, we are of all men most
omnibus hominibus miserable.
15:20 nunc autem Christus resurrexit a 20. But now is Christ risen from the
mortuis primitiae dormientium dead, and become the firstfruits of
them that slept.
15:21 quoniam enim per hominem mors et 21. For since by man came death, by
per hominem resurrectio mortuorum man came also the resurrection of the
dead.
15:22 et sicut in Adam omnes moriuntur 22. For as in Adam all die, even so in
ita et in Christo omnes vivificabuntur Christ shall all be made alive.
15:23 unusquisque autem in suo ordine 23. But every man in his own order:
primitiae Christus deinde hii qui sunt Christ the firstfruits; afterward they
Christi in adventu eius that are Christ's at his coming.
15:24 deinde finis cum tradiderit 24. Then cometh the end, when he shall
regnum Deo et Patri cum evacuaverit have delivered up the kingdom to God,
omnem principatum et potestatem et even the Father; when he shall have put
virtutem down all rule and all authority and
power.
15:25 oportet autem illum regnare 25. For he must reign, till he hath
donec ponat omnes inimicos sub pedibus put all enemies under his feet.

15:26 novissima autem inimica 26. The last enemy that shall be
destruetur mors omnia enim subiecit sub destroyed is death.

15:27 omnia subiecta sunt sine dubio 27. For he hath put all things under
praeter eum qui subiecit ei omnia his feet. But when he saith all things
are put under him, it is manifest that
he is excepted, which did put all
things under him.
15:28 cum autem subiecta fuerint illi 28. And when all things shall be
omnia tunc ipse Filius subiectus erit subdued unto him, then shall the Son
illi qui sibi subiecit omnia ut sit also himself be subject unto him that
Deus omnia in omnibus put all things under him, that God may
be all in all.
15:29 alioquin quid facient qui 29. Else what shall they do which are
baptizantur pro mortuis si omnino baptized for the dead, if the dead rise
mortui non resurgunt ut quid et not at all? why are they then baptized
baptizantur pro illis for the dead?
15:30 ut quid et nos periclitamur omni 30. And why stand we in jeopardy every
hora hour?
15:31 cotidie morior per vestram 31. I protest by your rejoicing which
gloriam fratres quam habeo in Christo I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die
Iesu Domino nostro daily.
15:32 si secundum hominem ad bestias 32. If after the manner of men I have
pugnavi Ephesi quid mihi prodest si fought with beasts at Ephesus, what
mortui non resurgunt manducemus et advantageth it me, if the dead rise
bibamus cras enim moriemur not? let us eat and drink; for to
morrow we die.
15:33 nolite seduci corrumpunt mores 33. Be not deceived: evil
bonos conloquia mala communications corrupt good manners.
15:34 evigilate iuste et nolite 34. Awake to righteousness, and sin
peccare ignorantiam enim Dei quidam not; for some have not the knowledge of
habent ad reverentiam vobis loquor God: I speak this to your shame.
15:35 sed dicet aliquis quomodo 35. But some man will say, How are the
resurgunt mortui quali autem corpore dead raised up? and with what body do
veniunt they come?
15:36 insipiens tu quod seminas non 36. Thou fool, that which thou sowest
vivificatur nisi prius moriatur is not quickened, except it die:
15:37 et quod seminas non corpus quod 37. And that which thou sowest, thou
futurum est seminas sed nudum granum ut sowest not that body that shall be, but
puta tritici aut alicuius ceterorum bare grain, it may chance of wheat, or
of some other grain:
15:38 Deus autem dat illi corpus sicut 38. But God giveth it a body as it
voluit et unicuique seminum proprium hath pleased him, and to every seed his
corpus own body.
15:39 non omnis caro eadem caro sed 39. All flesh is not the same flesh:
alia hominum alia pecorum alia caro but there is one kind of flesh of men,
volucrum alia autem piscium another flesh of beasts, another of
fishes, and another of birds.
15:40 et corpora caelestia et corpora 40. There are also celestial bodies,
terrestria sed alia quidem caelestium and bodies terrestrial: but the glory
gloria alia autem terrestrium of the celestial is one, and the glory
of the terrestrial is another.
15:41 alia claritas solis alia 41. There is one glory of the sun, and
claritas lunae et alia claritas another glory of the moon, and another
stellarum stella enim ab stella differt glory of the stars: for one star
in claritate differeth from another star in glory.
15:42 sic et resurrectio mortuorum 42. So also is the resurrection of the
seminatur in corruptione surgit in dead. It is sown in corruption; it is
incorruptione raised in incorruption:
15:43 seminatur in ignobilitate surgit 43. It is sown in dishonour; it is
in gloria seminatur in infirmitate raised in glory: it is sown in
surgit in virtute weakness; it is raised in power:
15:44 seminatur corpus animale surgit 44. It is sown a natural body; it is
corpus spiritale si est corpus animale raised a spiritual body. There is a
est et spiritale sic et scriptum est natural body, and there is a spiritual
body.
15:45 factus est primus homo Adam in 45. And so it is written, The first
animam viventem novissimus Adam in man Adam was made a living soul; the
spiritum vivificantem last Adam was made a quickening spirit.
15:46 sed non prius quod spiritale est 46. Howbeit that was not first which
sed quod animale est deinde quod is spiritual, but that which is
spiritale natural; and afterward that which is
spiritual.
15:47 primus homo de terra terrenus 47. The first man is of the earth,
secundus homo de caelo caelestis earthy; the second man is the Lord from
heaven.
15:48 qualis terrenus tales et terreni 48. As is the earthy, such are they
et qualis caelestis tales et caelestes also that are earthy: and as is the
heavenly, such are they also that are
heavenly.
15:49 igitur sicut portavimus imaginem 49. And as we have borne the image of
terreni portemus et imaginem caelestis the earthy, we shall also bear the
image of the heavenly.
15:50 hoc autem dico fratres quoniam 50. Now this I say, brethren, that
caro et sanguis regnum Dei possidere flesh and blood cannot inherit the
non possunt neque corruptio kingdom of God; neither doth corruption
incorruptelam possidebit inherit incorruption.
15:51 ecce mysterium vobis dico omnes 51. Behold, I shew you a mystery; We
quidem resurgemus sed non omnes shall not all sleep, but we shall all
inmutabimur be changed,
15:52 in momento in ictu oculi in 52. In a moment, in the twinkling of
novissima tuba canet enim et mortui an eye, at the last trump: for the
resurgent incorrupti et nos inmutabimur trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall
be raised incorruptible, and we shall
be changed.
15:53 oportet enim corruptibile hoc 53. For this corruptible must put on
induere incorruptelam et mortale hoc incorruption, and this mortal must put
induere inmortalitatem on immortality.
15:54 cum autem mortale hoc induerit 54. So when this corruptible shall
inmortalitatem tunc fiet sermo qui have put on incorruption, and this
scriptus est absorta est mors in mortal shall have put on immortality,
victoria then shall be brought to pass the
saying that is written, Death is
swallowed up in victory.
15:55 ubi est mors victoria tua ubi 55. O death, where is thy sting? O
est mors stimulus tuus grave, where is thy victory?
15:56 stimulus autem mortis peccatum 56. The sting of death is sin; and the
est virtus vero peccati lex strength of sin is the law.
15:57 Deo autem gratias qui dedit 57. But thanks be to God, which giveth
nobis victoriam per Dominum nostrum us the victory through our Lord Jesus
Iesum Christum Christ.
15:58 itaque fratres mei dilecti 58. Therefore, my beloved brethren, be
stabiles estote et inmobiles abundantes ye stedfast, unmoveable, always
in opere Domini semper scientes quod abounding in the work of the Lord,
labor vester non est inanis in Domino forasmuch as ye know that your labour
is not in vain in the Lord.
