12:1 et coepit illis in parabolis 1. And he began to speak unto them by

circumdedit sepem et fodit lacum et vineyard, and set an hedge about it,
aedificavit turrem et locavit eam and digged a place for the winefat, and
agricolis et peregre profectus est built a tower, and let it out to
husbandmen, and went into a far country.

12:2 et misit ad agricolas in tempore 2. And at the season he sent to the
servum ut ab agricolis acciperet de husbandmen a servant, that he might
fructu vineae receive from the husbandmen of the
                                             fruit of the vineyard.

12:3 qui adprehensum eum ceciderunt et 3. And they caught him, and beat him,
dimiserunt vacuum and sent him away empty.

12:4 et iterum misit ad illos alium 4. And again he sent unto them another
servum et illum capite vulneraverunt et servant; and at him they cast stones,
contumeliis adfecerunt and wounded him in the head, and sent
                                             him away shamefully handled.

12:5 et rursum alium misit et illum 5. And again he sent another; and him
occiderunt et plures alios quosdam they killed, and many others; beating
caedentes alios vero occidentes some, and killing some.

12:6 adhuc ergo unum habens filium 6. Having yet therefore one son, his
carissimum et illum misit ad eos wellbeloved, he sent him also last unto
novissimum dicens quia reverebuntur them, saying, They will reverence my
filium meum son.

12:7 coloni autem dixerunt ad invicem 7. But those husbandmen said among

nostra erit hereditas us kill him, and the inheritance shall
                                             be our's.

12:8 et adprehendentes eum occiderunt 8. And they took him, and killed him,
et eiecerunt extra vineam and cast him out of the vineyard.

12:9 quid ergo faciet dominus vineae 9. What shall therefore the lord of

vineam aliis destroy the husbandmen, and will give
                                             the vineyard unto others.

12:10 nec scripturam hanc legistis 10. And have ye not read this

12:11 a Domino factum est istud et est 11. This was the Lord's doing, and it
mirabile in oculis nostris is marvellous in our eyes?

12:12 et quaerebant eum tenere et 12. And they sought to lay hold on
timuerunt turbam cognoverunt enim him, but feared the people: for they
quoniam ad eos parabolam hanc dixerit knew that he had spoken the parable
et relicto eo abierunt against them: and they left him, and
                                             went their way.

12:13 et mittunt ad eum quosdam ex 13. And they send unto him certain of
Pharisaeis et Herodianis ut eum the Pharisees and of the Herodians, to

12:14 qui venientes dicunt ei magister 14. And when they were come, they say
scimus quoniam verax es et non curas unto him, Master, we know that thou art
quemquam nec enim vides in faciem true, and carest for no man: for thou
hominis sed in veritate viam Dei doces regardest not the person of men, but
licet dari tributum Caesari an non teachest the way of God in truth: Is it
dabimus lawful to give tribute to Caesar, or
                                             not?

12:15 qui sciens versutiam eorum ait 15. Shall we give, or shall we not
illis quid me temptatis adferte mihi give? But he, knowing their hypocrisy,

12:16 at illi adtulerunt et ait illis 16. And they brought it. And he saith
cuius est imago haec et inscriptio unto them, Whose is this image and

12:17 respondens autem Iesus dixit 17. And Jesus answering said unto
illis reddite igitur quae sunt Caesaris them, Render to Caesar the things that

12:28 et accessit unus de scribis qui 28. And one of the scribes came, and
audierat illos conquirentes et videns having heard them reasoning together,
quoniam bene illis responderit and perceiving that he had answered
