2:1 et iterum intravit Capharnaum post 1. And again he entered into Capernaum
dies after some days; and it was noised that
                                             he was in the house.

2:2 et auditum est quod in domo esset 2. And straightway many were gathered
et convenerunt multi ita ut non caperet together, insomuch that there was no
neque ad ianuam et loquebatur eis verbum room to receive them, no, not so much
as about the door: and he preached the
                                             word unto them.

2:3 et venerunt ferentes ad eum 3. And they come unto him, bringing
paralyticum qui a quattuor portabatur one sick of the palsy, which was borne
                                             of four.

2:4 et cum non possent offerre eum 4. And when they could not come nigh
illi prae turba nudaverunt tectum ubi unto him for the press, they uncovered
erat et patefacientes submiserunt the roof where he was: and when they
grabattum in quo paralyticus iacebat had broken it up, they let down the bed
wherein the sick of the palsy lay.

2:5 cum vidisset autem Iesus fidem 5. When Jesus saw their faith, he said
illorum ait paralytico fili dimittuntur unto the sick of the palsy, Son, thy
tibi peccata sins be forgiven thee.

2:6 erant autem illic quidam de 6. But there was certain of the
scribis sedentes et cogitantes in scribes sitting there, and reasoning in
cordibus suis their hearts,

2:7 quid hic sic loquitur blasphemat 7. Why doth this man thus speak
quis potest dimittere peccata nisi blasphemies? who can forgive sins but
solus Deus God only?

2:8 quo statim cognito Iesus spiritu 8. And immediately when Jesus
suo quia sic cogitarent intra se dicit perceived in his spirit that they so
illis quid ista cogitatis in cordibus reasoned within themselves, he said
vestris unto them, Why reason ye these things
                                             in your hearts?

2:9 quid est facilius dicere 9. Whether is it easier to say to the
paralytico dimittuntur tibi peccata an sick of the palsy, Thy sins be forgiven
dicere surge et tolle grabattum tuum et thee; or to say, Arise, and take up thy
ambula bed, and walk?

2:10 ut autem sciatis quia potestatem 10. But that ye may know that the Son
habet Filius hominis in terra of man hath power on earth to forgive
dimittendi peccata ait paralytico sins, (he saith to the sick of the
                                             palsy,)

2:11 tibi dico surge tolle grabattum 11. I say unto thee, Arise, and take
tuum et vade in domum tuam up thy bed, and go thy way into thine
                                             house.

2:12 et statim ille surrexit et 12. And immediately he arose, took up
sublato grabatto abiit coram omnibus the bed, and went forth before them
ita ut admirarentur omnes et all; insomuch that they were all
honorificarent Deum dicentes quia amazed, and glorified God, saying, We
numquam sic vidimus never saw it on this fashion.

2:13 et egressus est rursus ad mare 13. And he went forth again by the sea
omnisque turba veniebat ad eum et side; and all the multitude resorted
docebat eos unto him, and he taught them.

2:14 et cum praeteriret vidit Levin 14. And as he passed by, he saw Levi
Alphei sedentem ad teloneum et ait illi the son of Alphaeus sitting at the

Follow me. And he arose and followed
                                             him.

2:15 et factum est cum accumberet in 15. And it came to pass, that, as
domo illius multi publicani et Jesus sat at meat in his house, many
peccatores simul discumbebant cum Iesu publicans and sinners sat also together
et discipulis eius erant enim multi qui with Jesus and his disciples: for there
et sequebantur eum were many, and they followed him.

2:16 et scribae et Pharisaei videntes 16. And when the scribes and Pharisees
quia manducaret cum peccatoribus et saw him eat with publicans and sinners,
publicanis dicebant discipulis eius they said unto his disciples, How is it
quare cum publicanis et peccatoribus that he eateth and drinketh with
manducat et bibit magister vester publicans and sinners?

2:17 hoc audito Iesus ait illis non 17. When Jesus heard it, he saith unto
necesse habent sani medicum sed qui them, They that are whole have no need
male habent non enim veni vocare iustos of the physician, but they that are
sed peccatores sick: I came not to call the righteous,
                                             but sinners to repentance.

2:18 et erant discipuli Iohannis et 18. And the disciples of John and of
Pharisaei ieiunantes et veniunt et the Pharisees used to fast: and they
dicunt illi cur discipuli Iohannis et come and say unto him, Why do the

discipuli non ieiunant fast, but thy disciples fast not?

2:19 et ait illis Iesus numquid 19. And Jesus said unto them, Can the
possunt filii nuptiarum quamdiu sponsus children of the bridechamber fast,

2:20 venient autem dies cum auferetur 20. But the days will come, when the

2:23 et factum est iterum cum sabbatis 23. And it came to pass, that he went
