3:1 et introivit iterum synagogam et 1. And he entered again into the
erat ibi homo habens manum aridam synagogue; and there was a man there
which had a withered hand.
3:2 et observabant eum si sabbatis 2. And they watched him, whether he
curaret ut accusarent illum would heal him on the sabbath day; that
they might accuse him.
3:3 et ait homini habenti manum aridam 3. And he saith unto the man which had
surge in medium the withered hand, Stand forth.
3:4 et dicit eis licet sabbatis bene 4. And he saith unto them, Is it
facere an male animam salvam facere an lawful to do good on the sabbath days,
perdere at illi tacebant or to do evil? to save life, or to
kill? But they held their peace.
3:5 et circumspiciens eos cum ira 5. And when he had looked round about

eorum dicit homini extende manum tuam the hardness of their hearts, he saith
et extendit et restituta est manus illi unto the man, Stretch forth thine hand.

3:6 exeuntes autem statim Pharisaei 6. And the Pharisees went forth, and
cum Herodianis consilium faciebant straightway took counsel with the
adversus eum quomodo eum perderent Herodians against him, how they might
destroy him.
3:7 et Iesus cum discipulis suis 7. But Jesus withdrew himself with his
secessit ad mare et multa turba a disciples to the sea: and a great
Galilaea et Iudaea secuta est eum multitude from Galilee followed him,
and from Judaea,
3:8 et ab Hierosolymis et ab Idumea et 8. And from Jerusalem, and from
trans Iordanen et qui circa Tyrum et Idumaea, and from beyond Jordan; and
Sidonem multitudo magna audientes quae they about Tyre and Sidon, a great
faciebat venerunt ad eum multitude, when they had heard what
great things he did, came unto him.
3:9 et dixit discipulis suis ut 9. And he spake to his disciples, that
navicula sibi deserviret propter turbam a small ship should wait on him because
ne conprimerent eum of the multitude, lest they should
throng him.
3:10 multos enim sanabat ita ut 10. For he had healed many; insomuch
inruerent in eum ut illum tangerent that they pressed upon him for to touch
quotquot habebant plagas him, as many as had plagues.
3:11 et spiritus inmundi cum illum 11. And unclean spirits, when they saw
videbant procidebant ei et clamabant him, fell down before him, and cried,
dicentes saying, Thou art the Son of God.
3:12 tu es Filius Dei et vehementer 12. And he straitly charged them that
comminabatur eis ne manifestarent illum they should not make him known.
3:13 et ascendens in montem vocavit ad 13. And he goeth up into a mountain,
se quos voluit ipse et venerunt ad eum and calleth unto him whom he would: and
they came unto him.
3:14 et fecit ut essent duodecim cum 14. And he ordained twelve, that they
illo et ut mitteret eos praedicare should be with him, and that he might
send them forth to preach,
3:15 et dedit illis potestatem curandi 15. And to have power to heal
infirmitates et eiciendi daemonia sicknesses, and to cast out devils:
3:16 et inposuit Simoni nomen Petrus 16. And Simon he surnamed Peter;
3:17 et Iacobum Zebedaei et Iohannem 17. And James the son of Zebedee, and
fratrem Iacobi et inposuit eis nomina John the brother of James; and he
Boanerges quod est Filii tonitrui surnamed them Boanerges, which is, The
sons of thunder:
3:18 et Andream et Philippum et 18. And Andrew, and Philip, and
Bartholomeum et Mattheum et Thomam et Bartholomew, and Matthew, and Thomas,
Iacobum Alphei et Thaddeum et Simonem and James the son of Alphaeus, and
Cananeum Thaddaeus, and Simon the Canaanite,
3:19 et Iudam Scarioth qui et tradidit 19. And Judas Iscariot, which also
illum betrayed him: and they went into an
house.
3:20 et veniunt ad domum et convenit 20. And the multitude cometh together
iterum turba ita ut non possent neque again, so that they could not so much
panem manducare as eat bread.
3:21 et cum audissent sui exierunt 21. And when his friends heard of it,
tenere eum dicebant enim quoniam in they went out to lay hold on him: for
furorem versus est they said, He is beside himself.
3:22 et scribae qui ab Hierosolymis 22. And the scribes which came down
descenderant dicebant quoniam Beelzebub from Jerusalem said, He hath Beelzebub,
habet et quia in principe daemonum and by the prince of the devils casteth
eicit daemonia he out devils.
3:23 et convocatis eis in parabolis 23. And he called them unto him, and
dicebat illis quomodo potest Satanas said unto them in parables, How can
Satanan eicere Satan cast out Satan?
3:24 et si regnum in se dividatur non 24. And if a kingdom be divided
potest stare regnum illud against itself, that kingdom cannot
stand.
3:25 et si domus super semet ipsam 25. And if a house be divided against
dispertiatur non poterit domus illa itself, that house cannot stand.

3:26 et si Satanas consurrexit in 26. And if Satan rise up against
semet ipsum dispertitus est et non himself, and be divided, he cannot
potest stare sed finem habet stand, but hath an end.
3:27 nemo potest vasa fortis ingressus 27. No man can enter into a strong
in domum diripere nisi prius fortem man's house, and spoil his goods,
alliget et tunc domum eius diripiet except he will first bind the strong
man; and then he will spoil his house.
3:28 amen dico vobis quoniam omnia 28. Verily I say unto you, All sins
dimittentur filiis hominum peccata et shall be forgiven unto the sons of men,
blasphemiae quibus blasphemaverint and blasphemies wherewith soever they
shall blaspheme:
3:29 qui autem blasphemaverit in 29. But he that shall blaspheme
Spiritum Sanctum non habet remissionem against the Holy Ghost hath never
in aeternum sed reus erit aeterni forgiveness, but is in danger of
delicti eternal damnation.
3:30 quoniam dicebant spiritum 30. Because they said, He hath an
inmundum habet unclean spirit.
3:31 et veniunt mater eius et fratres 31. There came then his brethren and
et foris stantes miserunt ad eum his mother, and, standing without, sent
vocantes eum unto him, calling him.
3:32 et sedebat circa eum turba et 32. And the multitude sat about him,
dicunt ei ecce mater tua et fratres tui and they said unto him, Behold, thy
foris quaerunt te mother and thy brethren without seek
for thee.
3:33 et respondens eis ait quae est 33. And he answered them, saying, Who
mater mea et fratres mei is my mother, or my brethren?
3:34 et circumspiciens eos qui in 34. And he looked round about on them
circuitu eius sedebant ait ecce mater which sat about him, and said, Behold
mea et fratres mei my mother and my brethren!
3:35 qui enim fecerit voluntatem Dei 35. For whosoever shall do the will of
hic frater meus et soror mea et mater God, the same is my brother, and my
est sister, and mother.
