7:1 et conveniunt ad eum Pharisaei et 1. Then came together unto him the
quidam de scribis venientes ab Pharisees, and certain of the scribes,
Hierosolymis which came from Jerusalem.
7:2 et cum vidissent quosdam ex 2. And when they saw some of his
discipulis eius communibus manibus id disciples eat bread with defiled, that
est non lotis manducare panes is to say, with unwashen, hands, they
vituperaverunt found fault.
7:3 Pharisaei enim et omnes Iudaei 3. For the Pharisees, and all the

7:4 et a foro nisi baptizentur non 4. And when they come from the market,

lectorum of cups, and pots, brasen vessels, and

7:5 et interrogant eum Pharisaei et 5. Then the Pharisees and scribes
scribae quare discipuli tui non asked him, Why walk not thy disciples
ambulant iuxta traditionem seniorum sed according to the tradition of the
communibus manibus manducant panem elders, but eat bread with unwashen
hands?
7:6 at ille respondens dixit eis bene 6. He answered and said unto them,
prophetavit Esaias de vobis hypocritis Well hath Esaias prophesied of you
sicut scriptum est populus hic labiis hypocrites, as it is written, This
me honorat cor autem eorum longe est a people honoureth me with their lips,
me but their heart is far from me.
7:7 in vanum autem me colunt docentes 7. Howbeit in vain do they worship me,
doctrinas praecepta hominum teaching for doctrines the commandments
of men.
7:8 relinquentes enim mandatum Dei 8. For laying aside the commandment of
tenetis traditionem hominum baptismata God, ye hold the tradition of men, as
urceorum et calicum et alia similia his the washing of pots and cups: and many
facitis multa other such like things ye do.
7:9 et dicebat illis bene irritum 9. And he said unto them, Full well ye
facitis praeceptum Dei ut traditionem reject the commandment of God, that ye
vestram servetis may keep your own tradition.
7:10 Moses enim dixit honora patrem 10. For Moses said, Honour thy father
tuum et matrem tuam et qui maledixerit and thy mother; and, Whoso curseth
patri aut matri morte moriatur father or mother, let him die the death:
7:11 vos autem dicitis si dixerit homo 11. But ye say, If a man shall say to
patri aut matri corban quod est donum his father or mother, It is Corban,
quodcumque ex me tibi profuerit that is to say, a gift, by whatsoever
thou mightest be profited by me; he
shall be free.
7:12 et ultra non dimittitis eum 12. And ye suffer him no more to do

7:13 rescindentes verbum Dei per 13. Making the word of God of none

cogitationes malae procedunt adulteria of men, proceed evil thoughts,
fornicationes homicidia adulteries, fornications, murders,
7:22 furta avaritiae nequitiae dolus 22. Thefts, covetousness, wickedness,
inpudicitia oculus malus blasphemia deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye,
superbia stultitia blasphemy, pride, foolishness:
7:23 omnia haec mala ab intus 23. All these evil things come from
procedunt et communicant hominem within, and defile the man.
7:24 et inde surgens abiit in fines 24. And from thence he arose, and went
Tyri et Sidonis et ingressus domum into the borders of Tyre and Sidon, and
neminem voluit scire et non potuit entered into an house, and would have
latere no man know it: but he could not be hid.
7:25 mulier enim statim ut audivit de 25. For a certain woman, whose young

dicerent quanto autem eis praecipiebat should tell no man: but the more he
tanto magis plus praedicabant charged them, so much the more a great
deal they published it;
7:37 et eo amplius admirabantur 37. And were beyond measure
dicentes bene omnia fecit et surdos astonished, saying, He hath done all
facit audire et mutos loqui things well: he maketh both the deaf to
hear, and the dumb to speak.
