8:4 et responderunt ei discipuli sui 4. And his disciples answered him,
unde istos poterit quis hic saturare From whence can a man satisfy these men

8:5 et interrogavit eos quot panes 5. And he asked them, How many loaves
habetis qui dixerunt septem have ye? And they said, Seven.

8:7 et habebant pisciculos paucos et 7. And they had a few small fishes:
ipsos benedixit et iussit adponi and he blessed, and commanded to set

8:8 et manducaverunt et saturati sunt 8. So they did eat, and were filled:
et sustulerunt quod superaverat de and they took up of the broken meat
fragmentis septem sportas that was left seven baskets.

8:9 erant autem qui manducaverunt 9. And they that had eaten were about
quasi quattuor milia et dimisit eos four thousand: and he sent them away.

Dalmanutha the parts of Dalmanutha.

8:11 et exierunt Pharisaei et 11. And the Pharisees came forth, and
coeperunt conquirere cum eo quaerentes began to question with him, seeking of
ab illo signum de caelo temptantes eum him a sign from heaven, tempting him.

8:14 et obliti sunt sumere panes et 14. Now the disciples had forgotten to
nisi unum panem non habebant secum in take bread, neither had they in the
navi ship with them more than one loaf.

8:15 et praecipiebat eis dicens videte 15. And he charged them, saying, Take
cavete a fermento Pharisaeorum et heed, beware of the leaven of the
fermento Herodis Pharisees, and of the leaven of Herod.

8:16 et cogitabant ad alterutrum 16. And they reasoned among
dicentes quia panes non habemus themselves, saying, It is because we
                                             have no bread.

8:17 quo cognito Iesus ait illis quid 17. And when Jesus knew it, he saith
cogitatis quia panes non habetis nondum unto them, Why reason ye, because ye
cognoscitis nec intellegitis adhuc have no bread? perceive ye not yet,
caecatum habetis cor vestrum neither understand? have ye your heart
                                             yet hardened?

8:18 oculos habentes non videtis et 18. Having eyes, see ye not? and
aures habentes non auditis nec having ears, hear ye not? and do ye not
recordamini remember?

8:19 quando quinque panes fregi in 19. When I brake the five loaves among
quinque milia et quot cofinos five thousand, how many baskets full of
fragmentorum plenos sustulistis dicunt fragments took ye up? They say unto
ei duodecim him, Twelve.

8:20 quando et septem panes in 20. And when the seven among four
quattuor milia quot sportas thousand, how many baskets full of
fragmentorum tulistis et dicunt ei fragments took ye up? And they said,
septem Seven.

8:21 et dicebat eis quomodo nondum 21. And he said unto them, How is it
intellegitis that ye do not understand?

8:22 et veniunt Bethsaida et adducunt 22. And he cometh to Bethsaida; and
ei caecum et rogabant eum ut illum they bring a blind man unto him, and
tangeret besought him to touch him.

8:23 et adprehendens manum caeci 23. And he took the blind man by the

oculos eius inpositis manibus suis when he had spit on his eyes, and put
interrogavit eum si aliquid videret his hands upon him, he asked him if he
                                             saw ought.

8:24 et aspiciens ait video homines 24. And he looked up, and said, I see
velut arbores ambulantes men as trees, walking.

8:25 deinde iterum inposuit manus 25. After that he put his hands again
super oculos eius et coepit videre et upon his eyes, and made him look up:
restitutus est ita ut videret clare and he was restored, and saw every man
omnia clearly.

8:26 et misit illum in domum suam 26. And he sent him away to his house,
dicens vade in domum tuam et si in saying, Neither go into the town, nor
vicum introieris nemini dixeris tell it to any in the town.

8:27 et egressus est Iesus et 27. And Jesus went out, and his
discipuli eius in castella Caesareae disciples, into the towns of Caesarea
Philippi et in via interrogabat Philippi: and by the way he asked his
discipulos suos dicens eis quem me disciples, saying unto them, Whom do
dicunt esse homines men say that I am?

8:28 qui responderunt illi dicentes 28. And they answered, John the
Iohannem Baptistam alii Heliam alii Baptist; but some say, Elias; and
vero quasi unum de prophetis others, One of the prophets.

8:29 tunc dicit illis vos vero quem me 29. And he saith unto them, But whom
dicitis esse respondens Petrus ait ei say ye that I am? And Peter answereth
tu es Christus and saith unto him, Thou art the Christ.

8:30 et comminatus est eis ne cui 30. And he charged them that they
dicerent de illo should tell no man of him.

8:31 et coepit docere illos quoniam 31. And he began to teach them, that
oportet Filium hominis multa pati et the Son of man must suffer many things,
reprobari a senioribus et a summis and be rejected of the elders, and of
sacerdotibus et scribis et occidi et the chief priests, and scribes, and be
post tres dies resurgere killed, and after three days rise again.

8:32 et palam verbum loquebatur et 32. And he spake that saying openly.
adprehendens eum Petrus coepit And Peter took him, and began to rebuke
increpare eum him.

8:33 qui conversus et videns 33. But when he had turned about and
discipulos suos comminatus est Petro looked on his disciples, he rebuked
dicens vade retro me Satana quoniam non Peter, saying, Get thee behind me,
sapis quae Dei sunt sed quae sunt Satan: for thou savourest not the
hominum things that be of God, but the things
                                             that be of men.

8:34 et convocata turba cum discipulis 34. And when he had called the people
suis dixit eis si quis vult post me unto him with his disciples also, he
sequi deneget se ipsum et tollat crucem said unto them, Whosoever will come
suam et sequatur me after me, let him deny himself, and
take up his cross, and follow me.

8:35 qui enim voluerit animam suam 35. For whosoever will save his life
salvam facere perdet eam qui autem shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose
perdiderit animam suam propter me et his life for my sake and the gospel's,
evangelium salvam eam faciet the same shall save it.

8:36 quid enim proderit homini si 36. For what shall it profit a man, if
lucretur mundum totum et detrimentum he shall gain the whole world, and lose
faciat animae suae his own soul?

8:37 aut quid dabit homo commutationem 37. Or what shall a man give in
pro anima sua exchange for his soul?

8:38 qui enim me confusus fuerit et 38. Whosoever therefore shall be
mea verba in generatione ista adultera ashamed of me and of my words in this
et peccatrice et Filius hominis adulterous and sinful generation; of
confundetur eum cum venerit in gloria him also shall the Son of man be
Patris sui cum angelis sanctis ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of
his Father with the holy angels.
8:39 et dicebat illis amen dico vobis 1. And he said unto them, Verily I say
quia sunt quidam de hic stantibus qui unto you, That there be some of them
non gustabunt mortem donec videant that stand here, which shall not taste
regnum Dei veniens in virtute of death, till they have seen the
kingdom of God come with power.
