illis videte ne quis vos seducat say, Take heed lest any man deceive you:
13:6 multi enim venient in nomine meo 6. For many shall come in my name,
dicentes quia ego sum et multos seducent saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive
many.
13:7 cum audieritis autem bella et 7. And when ye shall hear of wars and
opiniones bellorum ne timueritis rumours of wars, be ye not troubled:
oportet enim fieri sed nondum finis for such things must needs be; but the
end shall not be yet.
13:8 exsurget autem gens super gentem 8. For nation shall rise against
et regnum super regnum et erunt nation, and kingdom against kingdom:
terraemotus per loca et fames initium and there shall be earthquakes in
dolorum haec divers places, and there shall be
famines and troubles: these are the
beginnings of sorrows.
13:9 videte autem vosmet ipsos tradent 9. But take heed to yourselves: for
enim vos conciliis et in synagogis they shall deliver you up to councils;
vapulabitis et ante praesides et reges and in the synagogues ye shall be
stabitis propter me in testimonium illis beaten: and ye shall be brought before
rulers and kings for my sake, for a
testimony against them.
13:10 et in omnes gentes primum 10. And the gospel must first be
oportet praedicari evangelium published among all nations.
13:11 et cum duxerint vos tradentes 11. But when they shall lead you, and
nolite praecogitare quid loquamini sed deliver you up, take no thought
quod datum vobis fuerit in illa hora id beforehand what ye shall speak, neither
loquimini non enim estis vos loquentes do ye premeditate: but whatsoever shall
sed Spiritus Sanctus be given you in that hour, that speak
ye: for it is not ye that speak, but
the Holy Ghost.
13:12 tradet autem frater fratrem in 12. Now the brother shall betray the
mortem et pater filium et consurgent brother to death, and the father the
filii in parentes et morte adficient eos son; and children shall rise up against
their parents, and shall cause them to
be put to death.
13:13 et eritis odio omnibus propter 13. And ye shall be hated of all men
nomen meum qui autem sustinuerit in for my name's sake: but he that shall
finem hic salvus erit endure unto the end, the same shall be
saved.
13:14 cum autem videritis 14. But when ye shall see the
abominationem desolationis stantem ubi abomination of desolation, spoken of by
non debet qui legit intellegat tunc qui Daniel the prophet, standing where it
in Iudaea sunt fugiant in montes ought not, (let him that readeth
understand,) then let them that be in
Judaea flee to the mountains:
13:15 et qui super tectum ne descendat 15. And let him that is on the
in domum nec introeat ut tollat quid de housetop not go down into the house,
domo sua neither enter therein, to take any
thing out of his house:
13:16 et qui in agro erit non 16. And let him that is in the field
revertatur retro tollere vestimentum not turn back again for to take up his
suum garment.
13:17 vae autem praegnatibus et 17. But woe to them that are with
nutrientibus in illis diebus child, and to them that give suck in
those days!
13:18 orate vero ut hieme non fiant 18. And pray ye that your flight be
not in the winter.
13:19 erunt enim dies illi 19. For in those days shall be
tribulationes tales quales non fuerunt affliction, such as was not from the
ab initio creaturae quam condidit Deus beginning of the creation which God
usque nunc neque fient created unto this time, neither shall
be.
13:20 et nisi breviasset Dominus dies 20. And except that the Lord had
non fuisset salva omnis caro sed shortened those days, no flesh should
propter electos quos elegit breviavit be saved: but for the elect's sake,
dies whom he hath chosen, he hath shortened
the days.
13:21 et tunc si quis vobis dixerit 21. And then if any man shall say to
ecce hic est Christus ecce illic ne you, Lo, here is Christ; or, lo, he is
credideritis there; believe him not:
13:22 exsurgent enim pseudochristi et 22. For false Christs and false
pseudoprophetae et dabunt signa et prophets shall rise, and shall shew
portenta ad seducendos si potest fieri signs and wonders, to seduce, if it
etiam electos were possible, even the elect.
13:23 vos ergo videte ecce praedixi 23. But take ye heed: behold, I have
vobis omnia foretold you all things.
13:24 sed in illis diebus post 24. But in those days, after that
tribulationem illam sol contenebrabitur tribulation, the sun shall be darkened,
et luna non dabit splendorem suum and the moon shall not give her light,
13:25 et erunt stellae caeli 25. And the stars of heaven shall
decidentes et virtutes quae sunt in fall, and the powers that are in heaven
caelis movebuntur shall be shaken.
13:26 et tunc videbunt Filium hominis 26. And then shall they see the Son of
venientem in nubibus cum virtute multa man coming in the clouds with great
et gloria power and glory.
13:27 et tunc mittet angelos suos et 27. And then shall he send his angels,
congregabit electos suos a quattuor and shall gather together his elect
ventis a summo terrae usque ad summum from the four winds, from the uttermost
caeli part of the earth to the uttermost part
of heaven.
13:28 a ficu autem discite parabolam 28. Now learn a parable of the fig
cum iam ramus eius tener fuerit et nata tree; When her branch is yet tender,
fuerint folia cognoscitis quia in and putteth forth leaves, ye know that
proximo sit aestas summer is near:
13:29 sic et vos cum videritis haec 29. So ye in like manner, when ye
fieri scitote quod in proximo sit in shall see these things come to pass,
ostiis know that it is nigh, even at the doors.
13:30 amen dico vobis quoniam non 30. Verily I say unto you, that this
transiet generatio haec donec omnia generation shall not pass, till all
ista fiant these things be done.
13:31 caelum et terra transibunt verba 31. Heaven and earth shall pass away:
autem mea non transibunt but my words shall not pass away.
13:32 de die autem illo vel hora nemo 32. But of that day and that hour
scit neque angeli in caelo neque Filius knoweth no man, no, not the angels
nisi Pater which are in heaven, neither the Son,
but the Father.
13:33 videte vigilate et orate 33. Take ye heed, watch and pray: for
nescitis enim quando tempus sit ye know not when the time is.
13:34 sicut homo qui peregre profectus 34. For the Son of Man is as a man
reliquit domum suam et dedit servis taking a far journey, who left his
suis potestatem cuiusque operis et house, and gave authority to his
ianitori praecipiat ut vigilet servants, and to every man his work,
and commanded the porter to watch.
13:35 vigilate ergo nescitis enim 35. Watch ye therefore: for ye know
quando dominus domus veniat sero an not when the master of the house
media nocte an galli cantu an mane cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at
the cockcrowing, or in the morning:
13:36 ne cum venerit repente inveniat 36. Lest coming suddenly he find you
vos dormientes sleeping.
13:37 quod autem vobis dico omnibus 37. And what I say unto you I say unto
dico vigilate all, Watch.
