10:1 fratres voluntas quidem cordis 1. Brethren, my heart's desire and
mei et obsecratio ad Deum fit pro illis prayer to God for Israel is, that they
in salutem might be saved.

10:2 testimonium enim perhibeo illis 2. For I bear them record that they
quod aemulationem Dei habent sed non have a zeal of God, but not according
secundum scientiam to knowledge.

10:3 ignorantes enim Dei iustitiam et 3. For they being ignorant of God's
suam quaerentes statuere iustitiae Dei righteousness, and going about to
non sunt subiecti establish their own righteousness, have
                                             not submitted themselves unto the
                                             righteousness of God.

10:4 finis enim legis Christus ad 4. For Christ is the end of the law
iustitiam omni credenti for righteousness to every one that
                                             believeth.

10:5 Moses enim scripsit quoniam 5. For Moses describeth the
iustitiam quae ex lege est qui fecerit righteousness which is of the law, That
homo vivet in ea the man which doeth those things shall
                                             live by them.

10:6 quae autem ex fide est iustitia 6. But the righteousness which is of

deducere heaven? (that is, to bring Christ down
                                             from above:)

10:7 aut quis descendit in abyssum hoc 7. Or, Who shall descend into the

                                             again from the dead.)

10:8 sed quid dicit prope est verbum 8. But what saith it? The word is nigh
in ore tuo et in corde tuo hoc est thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy
verbum fidei quod praedicamus heart: that is, the word of faith,
                                             which we preach;

10:9 quia si confitearis in ore tuo 9. That if thou shalt confess with thy
Dominum Iesum et in corde tuo mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe
credideris quod Deus illum excitavit ex in thine heart that God hath raised him
mortuis salvus eris from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

10:10 corde enim creditur ad iustitiam 10. For with the heart man believeth
ore autem confessio fit in salutem unto righteousness; and with the mouth
                                             confession is made unto salvation.

10:11 dicit enim scriptura omnis qui 11. For the scripture saith, Whosoever
credit in illum non confundetur believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

10:12 non enim est distinctio Iudaei 12. For there is no difference between
et Graeci nam idem Dominus omnium dives the Jew and the Greek: for the same
in omnes qui invocant illum Lord over all is rich unto all that
                                             call upon him.

10:13 omnis enim quicumque invocaverit 13. For whosoever shall call upon the
nomen Domini salvus erit name of the Lord shall be saved.

10:14 quomodo ergo invocabunt in quem 14. How then shall they call on him in
non crediderunt aut quomodo credent ei whom they have not believed? and how
quem non audierunt quomodo autem shall they believe in him of whom they
audient sine praedicante have not heard? and how shall they hear
                                             without a preacher?

10:15 quomodo vero praedicabunt nisi 15. And how shall they preach, except
mittantur sicut scriptum est quam they be sent? as it is written, How
speciosi pedes evangelizantium pacem beautiful are the feet of them that
evangelizantium bona preach the gospel of peace, and bring
                                             glad tidings of good things!

10:16 sed non omnes oboedierunt 16. But they have not all obeyed the
evangelio Esaias enim dicit Domine quis gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who
credidit auditui nostro hath believed our report?

10:17 ergo fides ex auditu auditus 17. So then faith cometh by hearing,
autem per verbum Christi and hearing by the word of God.

10:18 sed dico numquid non audierunt 18. But I say, Have they not heard?
et quidem in omnem terram exiit sonus Yes verily, their sound went into all
eorum et in fines orbis terrae verba the earth, and their words unto the
eorum ends of the world.

10:19 sed dico numquid Israhel non 19. But I say, Did not Israel know?
cognovit primus Moses dicit ego ad First Moses saith, I will provoke you
aemulationem vos adducam in non gentem to jealousy by them that are no people,
in gentem insipientem in iram vos mittam and by a foolish nation I will anger
                                             you.

10:20 Esaias autem audet et dicit 20. But Esaias is very bold, and
inventus sum non quaerentibus me palam saith, I was found of them that sought
apparui his qui me non interrogabant me not; I was made manifest unto them
                                             that asked not after me.

10:21 ad Israhel autem dicit tota die 21. But to Israel he saith, All day
expandi manus meas ad populum non long I have stretched forth my hands
credentem et contradicentem unto a disobedient and gainsaying
                                             people.
