15:1 debemus autem nos firmiores 1. We then that are strong ought to
inbecillitates infirmorum sustinere et bear the infirmities of the weak, and
non nobis placere not to please ourselves.

15:2 unusquisque vestrum proximo suo 2. Let every one of us please his
placeat in bonum ad aedificationem neighbour for his good to edification.

15:3 etenim Christus non sibi placuit 3. For even Christ pleased not
sed sicut scriptum est inproperia himself; but, as it is written, The
inproperantium tibi ceciderunt super me reproaches of them that reproached thee
                                             fell on me.

15:4 quaecumque enim scripta sunt ad 4. For whatsoever things were written
nostram doctrinam scripta sunt ut per aforetime were written for our
patientiam et consolationem learning, that we through patience and
scripturarum spem habeamus comfort of the scriptures might have
                                             hope.

15:5 Deus autem patientiae et solacii 5. Now the God of patience and
det vobis id ipsum sapere in alterutrum consolation grant you to be likeminded
secundum Iesum Christum one toward another according to Christ
                                             Jesus:

15:6 ut unianimes uno ore 6. That ye may with one mind and one
honorificetis Deum et Patrem Domini mouth glorify God, even the Father of
nostri Iesu Christi our Lord Jesus Christ.

15:7 propter quod suscipite invicem 7. Wherefore receive ye one another,
sicut et Christus suscepit vos in as Christ also received us to the glory
honorem Dei of God.

15:8 dico enim Christum Iesum 8. Now I say that Jesus Christ was a
ministrum fuisse circumcisionis propter minister of the circumcision for the
veritatem Dei ad confirmandas truth of God, to confirm the promises
promissiones patrum made unto the fathers:

15:9 gentes autem super misericordiam 9. And that the Gentiles might glorify
honorare Deum sicut scriptum est God for his mercy; as it is written,
propter hoc confitebor tibi in gentibus For this cause I will confess to thee
et nomini tuo cantabo among the Gentiles, and sing unto thy
                                             name.

15:10 et iterum dicit laetamini gentes 10. And again he saith, Rejoice, ye
cum plebe eius Gentiles, with his people.

15:11 et iterum laudate omnes gentes 11. And again, Praise the Lord, all ye
Dominum et magnificate eum omnes populi Gentiles; and laud him, all ye people.

15:12 et rursus Esaias ait erit radix 12. And again, Esaias saith, There
Iesse et qui exsurget regere gentes in shall be a root of Jesse, and he that
eo gentes sperabunt                          shall rise to reign over the Gentiles;
in him shall the Gentiles trust.

15:13 Deus autem spei repleat vos omni 13. Now the God of hope fill you with
gaudio et pace in credendo ut abundetis all joy and peace in believing, that ye
in spe in virtute Spiritus Sancti may abound in hope, through the power
                                             of the Holy Ghost.

15:14 certus sum autem fratres mei et 14. And I myself also am persuaded of
ego ipse de vobis quoniam et ipsi pleni you, my brethren, that ye also are full
estis dilectione repleti omni scientia of goodness, filled with all knowledge,
ita ut possitis alterutrum monere able also to admonish one another.

15:15 audacius autem scripsi vobis 15. Nevertheless, brethren, I have
fratres ex parte tamquam in memoriam written the more boldly unto you in
vos reducens propter gratiam quae data some sort, as putting you in mind,
est mihi a Deo because of the grace that is given to
                                             me of God,

15:16 ut sim minister Christi Iesu in 16. That I should be the minister of
gentibus sanctificans evangelium Dei ut Jesus Christ to the Gentiles,
fiat oblatio gentium accepta ministering the gospel of God, that the
sanctificata in Spiritu Sancto offering up of the Gentiles might be
                                             acceptable, being sanctified by the
                                             Holy Ghost.

15:17 habeo igitur gloriam in Christo 17. I have therefore whereof I may
Iesu ad Deum glory through Jesus Christ in those
                                             things which pertain to God.

15:18 non enim audeo aliquid loqui 18. For I will not dare to speak of
eorum quae per me non effecit Christus any of those things which Christ hath
in oboedientiam gentium verbo et factis not wrought by me, to make the Gentiles
                                             obedient, by word and deed,

15:19 in virtute signorum et 19. Through mighty signs and wonders,
prodigiorum in virtute Spiritus Sancti by the power of the Spirit of God; so
ita ut ab Hierusalem per circuitum that from Jerusalem, and round about
usque in Illyricum repleverim unto Illyricum, I have fully preached
evangelium Christi the gospel of Christ.

15:20 sic autem hoc praedicavi 20. Yea, so have I strived to preach
evangelium non ubi nominatus est the gospel, not where Christ was named,
Christus ne super alienum fundamentum lest I should build upon another man's
aedificarem foundation:

15:21 sed sicut scriptum est quibus 21. But as it is written, To whom he
non est adnuntiatum de eo videbunt et was not spoken of, they shall see: and
qui non audierunt intellegent they that have not heard shall
                                             understand.

15:22 propter quod et inpediebar 22. For which cause also I have been
plurimum venire ad vos much hindered from coming to you.

15:23 nunc vero ulterius locum non 23. But now having no more place in
habens in his regionibus cupiditatem these parts, and having a great desire
autem habens veniendi ad vos ex multis       these many years to come unto you;
iam annis

15:24 cum in Hispaniam proficisci 24. Whensoever I take my journey into
coepero spero quod praeteriens videam Spain, I will come to you: for I trust
vos et a vobis deducar illuc si vobis to see you in my journey, and to be
primum ex parte fruitus fuero brought on my way thitherward by you,
if first I be somewhat filled with your
                                             company.

15:25 nunc igitur proficiscar in 25. But now I go unto Jerusalem to
Hierusalem ministrare sanctis minister unto the saints.

15:26 probaverunt enim Macedonia et 26. For it hath pleased them of
Achaia conlationem aliquam facere in Macedonia and Achaia to make a certain
pauperes sanctorum qui sunt in contribution for the poor saints which
Hierusalem are at Jerusalem.

15:27 placuit enim eis et debitores 27. It hath pleased them verily; and
sunt eorum nam si spiritalium eorum their debtors they are. For if the
participes facti sunt gentiles debent Gentiles have been made partakers of
et in carnalibus ministrare eis their spiritual things, their duty is
also to minister unto them in carnal
                                             things.

15:28 hoc igitur cum consummavero et 28. When therefore I have performed
adsignavero eis fructum hunc this, and have sealed to them this
proficiscar per vos in Hispaniam fruit, I will come by you into Spain.

15:29 scio autem quoniam veniens ad 29. And I am sure that, when I come
vos in abundantia benedictionis Christi unto you, I shall come in the fulness
veniam of the blessing of the gospel of Christ.

15:30 obsecro igitur vos fratres per 30. Now I beseech you, brethren, for
Dominum nostrum Iesum Christum et per the Lord Jesus Christ's sake, and for
caritatem Spiritus ut adiuvetis me in the love of the Spirit, that ye strive
orationibus pro me ad Deum together with me in your prayers to God
                                             for me;

15:31 ut liberer ab infidelibus qui 31. That I may be delivered from them
sunt in Iudaea et obsequii mei oblatio that do not believe in Judaea; and that
accepta fiat in Hierosolyma sanctis my service which I have for Jerusalem
                                             may be accepted of the saints;

15:32 ut veniam ad vos in gaudio per 32. That I may come unto you with joy
voluntatem Dei et refrigerer vobiscum by the will of God, and may with you be
                                             refreshed.

15:33 Deus autem pacis sit cum omnibus 33. Now the God of peace be with you
vobis amen all. Amen.
