12:1 obsecro itaque vos fratres per 1. I beseech you therefore, brethren,
misericordiam Dei ut exhibeatis corpora by the mercies of God, that ye present
vestra hostiam viventem sanctam Deo your bodies a living sacrifice, holy,
placentem rationabile obsequium vestrum acceptable unto God, which is your
                                             reasonable service.

12:2 et nolite conformari huic saeculo 2. And be not conformed to this world:
sed reformamini in novitate sensus but be ye transformed by the renewing
vestri ut probetis quae sit voluntas of your mind, that ye may prove what is
Dei bona et placens et perfecta that good, and acceptable, and perfect,
                                             will of God.

12:3 dico enim per gratiam quae data 3. For I say, through the grace given
est mihi omnibus qui sunt inter vos non unto me, to every man that is among
plus sapere quam oportet sapere sed you, not to think of himself more
sapere ad sobrietatem unicuique sicut highly than he ought to think; but to
Deus divisit mensuram fidei think soberly, according as God hath
dealt to every man the measure of faith.

12:4 sicut enim in uno corpore multa 4. For as we have many members in one
membra habemus omnia autem membra non body, and all members have not the same
eundem actum habent office:

12:5 ita multi unum corpus sumus in 5. So we, being many, are one body in
Christo singuli autem alter alterius Christ, and every one members one of
membra another.

12:6 habentes autem donationes 6. Having then gifts differing

differentes sive prophetiam secundum us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy
rationem fidei                               according to the proportion of faith;

12:7 sive ministerium in ministrando 7. Or ministry, let us wait on our

12:8 qui exhortatur in exhortando qui 8. Or he that exhorteth, on
tribuit in simplicitate qui praeest in exhortation: he that giveth, let him do

                                             with cheerfulness.

12:9 dilectio sine simulatione 9. Let love be without dissimulation.
odientes malum adherentes bono Abhor that which is evil; cleave to
                                             that which is good.

12:10 caritatem fraternitatis invicem 10. Be kindly affectioned one to
diligentes honore invicem praevenientes another with brotherly love; in honour
                                             preferring one another;

12:11 sollicitudine non pigri spiritu 11. Not slothful in business; fervent
ferventes Domino servientes                  in spirit; serving the Lord;

12:12 spe gaudentes in tribulatione 12. Rejoicing in hope; patient in
patientes orationi instantes tribulation; continuing instant in

12:13 necessitatibus sanctorum 13. Distributing to the necessity of
communicantes hospitalitatem sectantes saints; given to hospitality.

12:14 benedicite persequentibus 14. Bless them which persecute you:
benedicite et nolite maledicere bless, and curse not.

12:15 gaudere cum gaudentibus flere 15. Rejoice with them that do rejoice,
cum flentibus and weep with them that weep.

12:16 id ipsum invicem sentientes non 16. Be of the same mind one toward
alta sapientes sed humilibus another. Mind not high things, but
consentientes nolite esse prudentes condescend to men of low estate. Be not
apud vosmet ipsos wise in your own conceits.

12:17 nulli malum pro malo reddentes 17. Recompense to no man evil for
providentes bona non tantum coram Deo evil. Provide things honest in the
sed etiam coram omnibus hominibus sight of all men.

12:18 si fieri potest quod ex vobis 18. If it be possible, as much as
est cum omnibus hominibus pacem habentes lieth in you, live peaceably with all
                                             men.

12:19 non vosmet ipsos defendentes 19. Dearly beloved, avenge not
carissimi sed date locum irae scriptum yourselves, but rather give place unto

12:20 sed si esurierit inimicus tuus 20. Therefore if thine enemy hunger,
ciba illum si sitit potum da illi hoc feed him; if he thirst, give him drink:
enim faciens carbones ignis congeres for in so doing thou shalt heap coals
super caput eius of fire on his head.

12:21 noli vinci a malo sed vince in 21. Be not overcome of evil, but
bono malum overcome evil with good.
