14:1  infirmum autem in fide adsumite        1.  Him that is weak in the faith
non in disceptationibus cogitationum         receive ye, but not to doubtful
                                             disputations.

14:2  alius enim credit manducare omnia      2.  For one believeth that he may eat
qui autem infirmus est holus manducat        all things: another, who is weak,
                                             eateth herbs.

14:3  is qui manducat non manducantem        3.  Let not him that eateth despise him
non spernat et qui non manducat              that eateth not; and let not him which
manducantem non iudicet Deus enim illum      eateth not judge him that eateth: for
adsumpsit                                    God hath received him.

14:4  tu quis es qui iudices alienum         4.  Who art thou that judgest another
servum suo domino stat aut cadit stabit      man's servant? to his own master he
autem potens est enim Deus statuere          standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be
illum                                        holden up: for God is able to make him
                                             stand.

14:5  nam alius iudicat diem plus inter      5.  One man esteemeth one day above
diem alius iudicat omnem diem                another: another esteemeth every day
unusquisque in suo sensu abundet             alike. Let every man be fully persuaded
                                             in his own mind.

14:6  qui sapit diem Domino sapit et         6.  He that regardeth the day,
qui manducat Domino manducat gratias         regardeth it unto the Lord; and he that
enim agit Deo et qui non manducat            regardeth not the day, to the Lord he
Domino non manducat et gratias agit Deo      doth not regard it. He that eateth,
                                             eateth to the Lord, for he giveth God
                                             thanks; and he that eateth not, to the
                                             Lord he eateth not, and giveth God
                                             thanks.

14:7  nemo enim nostrum sibi vivit et        7.  For none of us liveth to himself,
nemo sibi moritur                            and no man dieth to himself.

14:8  sive enim vivimus Domino vivimus       8.  For whether we live, we live unto
sive morimur Domino morimur sive ergo        the Lord; and whether we die, we die
vivimus sive morimur Domini sumus            unto the Lord: whether we live
                                             therefore, or die, we are the Lord's.

14:9  in hoc enim Christus et mortuus        9.  For to this end Christ both died,
est et revixit ut et mortuorum et            and rose, and revived, that he might be
vivorum dominetur                            Lord both of the dead and living.

14:10  tu autem quid iudicas fratrem         10.  But why dost thou judge thy
tuum aut tu quare spernis fratrem tuum       brother? or why dost thou set at nought
omnes enim stabimus ante tribunal Dei        thy brother? for we shall all stand
                                             before the judgment seat of Christ.

14:11  scriptum est enim vivo ego dicit      11.  For it is written, As I live,
Dominus quoniam mihi flectet omne genu       saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to
et omnis lingua confitebitur Deo             me, and every tongue shall confess to
                                             God.

14:12  itaque unusquisque nostrum pro        12.  So then every one of us shall give
se rationem reddet Deo                       account of himself to God.

14:13  non ergo amplius invicem              13.  Let us not therefore judge one
iudicemus sed hoc iudicate magis ne          another any more: but judge this
ponatis offendiculum fratri vel              rather, that no man put a
scandalum                                    stumblingblock or an occasion to fall
                                             in his brother's way.

14:14  scio et confido in Domino Iesu        14.  I know, and am persuaded by the
quia nihil commune per ipsum nisi ei         Lord Jesus, that there is nothing
qui existimat quid commune esse illi         unclean of itself: but to him that
commune est                                  esteemeth any thing to be unclean, to
                                             him it is unclean.

14:15  si enim propter cibum frater          15.  But if thy brother be grieved with
tuus contristatur iam non secundum           thy meat, now walkest thou not
caritatem ambulas noli cibo tuo illum        charitably. Destroy not him with thy
perdere pro quo Christus mortuus est         meat, for whom Christ died.

14:16  non ergo blasphemetur bonum           16.  Let not then your good be evil
nostrum                                      spoken of:

14:17  non est regnum Dei esca et potus      17.  For the kingdom of God is not meat
sed iustitia et pax et gaudium in            and drink; but righteousness, and
Spiritu Sancto                               peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.

14:18  qui enim in hoc servit Christo        18.  For he that in these things
placet Deo et probatus est hominibus         serveth Christ is acceptable to God,
                                             and approved of men.

14:19  itaque quae pacis sunt sectemur       19.  Let us therefore follow after the
et quae aedificationis sunt in invicem       things which make for peace, and things
                                             wherewith one may edify another.

14:20  noli propter escam destruere          20.  For meat destroy not the work of
opus Dei omnia quidem munda sunt sed         God. All things indeed are pure; but it
malum est homini qui per offendiculum        is evil for that man who eateth with
manducat                                     offence.

14:21  bonum est non manducare carnem        21.  It is good neither to eat flesh,
et non bibere vinum neque in quo frater      nor to drink wine, nor any thing
tuus offendit aut scandalizatur aut          whereby thy brother stumbleth, or is
infirmatur                                   offended, or is made weak.

14:22  tu fidem habes penes temet ipsum      22.  Hast thou faith? have it to
habe coram Deo beatus qui non iudicat        thyself before God. Happy is he that
semet ipsum in eo quo probat                 condemneth not himself in that thing
                                             which he alloweth.

14:23  qui autem discernit si                23.  And he that doubteth is damned if
manducaverit damnatus est quia non ex        he eat, because he eateth not of faith:
fide omne autem quod non ex fide             for whatsoever is not of faith is sin.
