I say the truth in Christ, I lie mentior testimonium mihi perhibente not, my conscience also bearing me conscientia mea in Spiritu Sancto witness in the Holy Ghost, 9:2 quoniam tristitia est mihi magna 2. That I have great heaviness and et continuus dolor cordi meo continual sorrow in my heart. 9:3 optabam enim ipse ego anathema 3. For he saith to Moses, I will have misereor et misericordiam praestabo mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I cuius miserebor will have compassion on whom I will have compassion. 9:16 igitur non volentis neque 16. So then it is not of him that currentis sed miserentis Dei willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy. 9:17 dicit enim scriptura Pharaoni 17. For the scripture saith unto quia in hoc ipsum excitavi te ut Pharaoh, Even for this same purpose ostendam in te virtutem meam et ut have I raised thee up, that I might adnuntietur nomen meum in universa terra shew my power in thee, and that my name might be declared throughout all the earth. 9:18 ergo cuius vult miseretur et quem 18. Therefore hath he mercy on whom he vult indurat will have mercy, and whom he will he hardeneth. 9:19 dicis itaque mihi quid adhuc 19. Thou wilt say then unto me, Why queritur voluntati enim eius quis doth he yet find fault? For who hath resistit resisted his will? 9:20 o homo tu quis es qui respondeas 20. Nay but, O man, who art thou that Deo numquid dicit figmentum ei qui se repliest against God? Shall the thing finxit quid me fecisti sic formed say to him that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus? 9:21 an non habet potestatem figulus 21. Hath not the potter power over the luti ex eadem massa facere aliud quidem clay, of the same lump to make one vas in honorem aliud vero in contumeliam vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour? 9:22 quod si volens Deus ostendere 22. And it shall come to pass, that in eis non plebs mea vos ibi vocabuntur the place where it was said unto them, filii Dei vivi Ye are not my people; there shall they be called the children of the living God. 9:27 Esaias autem clamat pro Israhel 27. Esaias also crieth concerning si fuerit numerus filiorum Israhel Israel, Though the number of the tamquam harena maris reliquiae salvae children of Israel be as the sand of fient the sea, a remnant shall be saved: 9:28 verbum enim consummans et 28. For he will finish the work, and brevians in aequitate quia verbum cut it short in righteousness: because breviatum faciet Dominus super terram a short work will the Lord make upon the earth. 9:29 et sicut praedixit Esaias nisi 29. And as Esaias said before, Except Dominus Sabaoth reliquisset nobis semen the Lord of Sabaoth had left us a seed, sicut Sodoma facti essemus et sicut we had been as Sodoma, and been made Gomorra similes fuissemus like unto Gomorrha. 9:30 quid ergo dicemus quod gentes 30. What shall we say then? That the quae non sectabantur iustitiam Gentiles, which followed not after adprehenderunt iustitiam iustitiam righteousness, have attained to autem quae ex fide est righteousness, even the righteousness which is of faith. 9:31 Israhel vero sectans legem 31. But Israel, which followed after iustitiae in legem iustitiae non the law of righteousness, hath not pervenit attained to the law of righteousness. 9:32 quare quia non ex fide sed quasi 32. Wherefore? Because they sought it ex operibus offenderunt in lapidem not by faith, but as it were by the offensionis works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumblingstone; 9:33 sicut scriptum est ecce pono in 33.
