14:1 non turbetur cor vestrum creditis 1. Let not your heart be troubled: ye
in Deum et in me credite believe in God, believe also in me.

14:2 in domo Patris mei mansiones 2. In my Father's house are many
multae sunt si quo minus dixissem vobis mansions: if it were not so, I would
quia vado parare vobis locum have told you. I go to prepare a place
                                             for you.

14:3 et si abiero et praeparavero 3. And if I go and prepare a place for

vos ad me ipsum ut ubi sum ego et vos unto myself; that where I am, there ye
sitis may be also.

14:4 et quo ego vado scitis et viam 4. And whither I go ye know, and the
scitis way ye know.

14:5 dicit ei Thomas Domine nescimus 5. Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we
quo vadis et quomodo possumus viam scire know not whither thou goest; and how
                                             can we know the way?

14:6 dicit ei Iesus ego sum via et 6. Jesus saith unto him, I am the way,
veritas et vita nemo venit ad Patrem the truth, and the life: no man cometh
nisi per me unto the Father, but by me.

14:7 si cognovissetis me et Patrem 7. If ye had known me, ye should have
meum utique cognovissetis et amodo known my Father also: and from
cognoscitis eum et vidistis eum henceforth ye know him, and have seen
                                             him.

14:8 dicit ei Philippus Domine ostende 8. Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew
nobis Patrem et sufficit nobis us the Father, and it sufficeth us.

14:9 dicit ei Iesus tanto tempore 9. Jesus saith unto him, Have I been
vobiscum sum et non cognovistis me so long time with you, and yet hast
Philippe qui vidit me vidit et Patrem thou not known me, Philip? he that hath
quomodo tu dicis ostende nobis Patrem seen me hath seen the Father; and how
sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?

14:10 non credis quia ego in Patre et 10. Believest thou not that I am in
Pater in me est verba quae ego loquor the Father, and the Father in me? the
vobis a me ipso non loquor Pater autem words that I speak unto you I speak not
in me manens ipse facit opera of myself: but the Father that dwelleth
in me, he doeth the works.

14:11 non creditis quia ego in Patre 11. Believe me that I am in the
et Pater in me est Father, and the Father in me: or else
believe me for the very works' sake.

14:12 alioquin propter opera ipsa 12. Verily, verily, I say unto you, He
credite amen amen dico vobis qui credit that believeth on me, the works that I
in me opera quae ego facio et ipse do shall he do also; and greater works
faciet et maiora horum faciet quia ego than these shall he do; because I go
ad Patrem vado unto my Father.

14:13 et quodcumque petieritis in 13. And whatsoever ye shall ask in my
nomine meo hoc faciam ut glorificetur name, that will I do, that the Father
Pater in Filio may be glorified in the Son.

14:14 si quid petieritis me in nomine 14. If ye shall ask any thing in my
meo hoc faciam name, I will do it.

14:15 si diligitis me mandata mea 15. If ye love me, keep my
servate commandments.

14:16 et ego rogabo Patrem et alium 16. And I will pray the Father, and he
paracletum dabit vobis ut maneat shall give you another Comforter, that
vobiscum in aeternum                         he may abide with you for ever;

14:17 Spiritum veritatis quem mundus 17. Even the Spirit of truth; whom the
non potest accipere quia non videt eum world cannot receive, because it seeth
nec scit eum vos autem cognoscitis eum him not, neither knoweth him: but ye
quia apud vos manebit et in vobis erit know him; for he dwelleth with you, and
                                             shall be in you.

14:18 non relinquam vos orfanos veniam 18. I will not leave you comfortless:
ad vos I will come to you.

14:19 adhuc modicum et mundus me iam 19. Yet a little while, and the world
non videt vos autem videtis me quia ego seeth me no more; but ye see me:
vivo et vos vivetis because I live, ye shall live also.

14:20 in illo die vos cognoscetis quia 20. At that day ye shall know that I
ego sum in Patre meo et vos in me et am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in
ego in vobis you.

14:21 qui habet mandata mea et servat 21. He that hath my commandments, and
ea ille est qui diligit me qui autem keepeth them, he it is that loveth me:
diligit me diligetur a Patre meo et ego and he that loveth me shall be loved of
diligam eum et manifestabo ei me ipsum my Father, and I will love him, and
                                             will manifest myself to him.

14:22 dicit ei Iudas non ille 22. Judas saith unto him, not
Scariotis Domine quid factum est quia Iscariot, Lord, how is it that thou
nobis manifestaturus es te ipsum et non wilt manifest thyself unto us, and not
mundo unto the world?

14:23 respondit Iesus et dixit ei si 23. Jesus answered and said unto him,
quis diligit me sermonem meum servabit If a man love me, he will keep my
et Pater meus diliget eum et ad eum words: and my Father will love him, and
veniemus et mansiones apud eum faciemus we will come unto him, and make our
                                             abode with him.

14:24 qui non diligit me sermones meos 24. He that loveth me not keepeth not
non servat et sermonem quem audistis my sayings: and the word which ye hear
non est meus sed eius qui misit me is not mine, but the Father's which
Patris sent me.

14:25 haec locutus sum vobis apud vos 25. These things have I spoken unto
manens you, being yet present with you.

14:26 paracletus autem Spiritus 26. But the Comforter, which is the
Sanctus quem mittet Pater in nomine meo Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send
ille vos docebit omnia et suggeret in my name, he shall teach you all
vobis omnia quaecumque dixero vobis things, and bring all things to your
                                             remembrance, whatsoever I have said
                                             unto you.

14:27 pacem relinquo vobis pacem meam 27. Peace I leave with you, my peace I
do vobis non quomodo mundus dat ego do give unto you: not as the world giveth,
vobis non turbetur cor vestrum neque give I unto you. Let not your heart be
formidet troubled, neither let it be afraid.

14:28 audistis quia ego dixi vobis 28. Ye have heard how I said unto you,
vado et venio ad vos si diligeretis me I go away, and come again unto you. If
gauderetis utique quia vado ad Patrem ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because
quia Pater maior me est I said, I go unto the Father: for my
                                             Father is greater than I.

14:29 et nunc dixi vobis priusquam 29. And now I have told you before it
fiat ut cum factum fuerit credatis come to pass, that, when it is come to
                                             pass, ye might believe.

14:30 iam non multa loquar vobiscum 30. Hereafter I will not talk much
venit enim princeps mundi huius et in with you: for the prince of this world
me non habet quicquam cometh, and hath nothing in me.

14:31 sed ut cognoscat mundus quia 31. But that the world may know that I
diligo Patrem et sicut mandatum dedit love the Father; and as the Father gave
mihi Pater sic facio surgite eamus hinc me commandment, even so I do. Arise,
                                             let us go hence.
