15:1 ego sum vitis vera et Pater meus 1. I am the true vine, and my Father
agricola est is the husbandman.

15:2 omnem palmitem in me non ferentem 2. Every branch in me that beareth not
fructum tollet eum et omnem qui fert fruit he taketh away: and every branch
fructum purgabit eum ut fructum plus that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that
adferat it may bring forth more fruit.

15:3 iam vos mundi estis propter 3. Now ye are clean through the word
sermonem quem locutus sum vobis which I have spoken unto you.

15:4 manete in me et ego in vobis 4. Abide in me, and I in you. As the
sicut palmes non potest ferre fructum a branch cannot bear fruit of itself,
semet ipso nisi manserit in vite sic except it abide in the vine; no more
nec vos nisi in me manseritis can ye, except ye abide in me.

15:5 ego sum vitis vos palmites qui 5. I am the vine, ye are the branches:
manet in me et ego in eo hic fert He that abideth in me, and I in him,
fructum multum quia sine me nihil the same bringeth forth much fruit: for
potestis facere without me ye can do nothing.

15:6 si quis in me non manserit 6. If a man abide not in me, he is
mittetur foras sicut palmes et aruit et cast forth as a branch, and is
colligent eos et in ignem mittunt et withered; and men gather them, and cast
ardent them into the fire, and they are burned.

15:7 si manseritis in me et verba mea 7. If ye abide in me, and my words
in vobis manserint quodcumque abide in you, ye shall ask what ye
volueritis petetis et fiet vobis will, and it shall be done unto you.

15:8 in hoc clarificatus est Pater 8. Herein is my Father glorified, that
meus ut fructum plurimum adferatis et ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my
efficiamini mei discipuli disciples.

15:9 sicut dilexit me Pater et ego 9. As the Father hath loved me, so
dilexi vos manete in dilectione mea have I loved you: continue ye in my
                                             love.

15:10 si praecepta mea servaveritis 10. If ye keep my commandments, ye
manebitis in dilectione mea sicut et shall abide in my love; even as I have
ego Patris mei praecepta servavi et kept my Father's commandments, and
maneo in eius dilectione abide in his love.

15:11 haec locutus sum vobis ut 11. These things have I spoken unto
gaudium meum in vobis sit et gaudium you, that my joy might remain in you,
vestrum impleatur and that your joy might be full.

15:12 hoc est praeceptum meum ut 12. This is my commandment, That ye
diligatis invicem sicut dilexi vos love one another, as I have loved you.

15:13 maiorem hac dilectionem nemo 13. Greater love hath no man than
habet ut animam suam quis ponat pro this, that a man lay down his life for
amicis suis his friends.

15:14 vos amici mei estis si feceritis 14. Ye are my friends, if ye do
quae ego praecipio vobis whatsoever I command you.

15:15 iam non dico vos servos quia 15. Henceforth I call you not
servus nescit quid facit dominus eius servants; for the servant knoweth not
vos autem dixi amicos quia omnia what his lord doeth: but I have called
quaecumque audivi a Patre meo nota feci you friends; for all things that I have
vobis heard of my Father I have made known
                                             unto you.

15:16 non vos me elegistis sed ego 16. Ye have not chosen me, but I have
elegi vos et posui vos ut eatis et chosen you, and ordained you, that ye
fructum adferatis et fructus vester should go and bring forth fruit, and
maneat ut quodcumque petieritis Patrem that your fruit should remain: that
in nomine meo det vobis whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father
in my name, he may give it you.

15:17 haec mando vobis ut diligatis 17. These things I command you, that
invicem ye love one another.

15:18 si mundus vos odit scitote quia 18. If the world hate you, ye know
me priorem vobis odio habuit that it hated me before it hated you.

15:19 si de mundo fuissetis mundus 19. If ye were of the world, the world
quod suum erat diligeret quia vero de would love his own: but because ye are
mundo non estis sed ego elegi vos de not of the world, but I have chosen you
mundo propterea odit vos mundus out of the world, therefore the world
                                             hateth you.

15:20 mementote sermonis mei quem ego 20. Remember the word that I said unto
dixi vobis non est servus maior domino you, The servant is not greater than
suo si me persecuti sunt et vos his lord. If they have persecuted me,
persequentur si sermonem meum they will also persecute you; if they
servaverunt et vestrum servabunt have kept my saying, they will keep
                                             yours also.

15:21 sed haec omnia facient vobis 21. But all these things will they do
propter nomen meum quia nesciunt eum unto you for my name's sake, because
qui misit me they know not him that sent me.

15:22 si non venissem et locutus 22. If I had not come and spoken unto
fuissem eis peccatum non haberent nunc them, they had not had sin: but now
autem excusationem non habent de they have no cloak for their sin.
peccato suo

15:23 qui me odit et Patrem meum odit 23. He that hateth me hateth my Father
                                             also.

15:24 si opera non fecissem in eis 24. If I had not done among them the
quae nemo alius fecit peccatum non works which none other man did, they
haberent nunc autem et viderunt et had not had sin: but now have they both
oderunt et me et Patrem meum seen and hated both me and my Father.

15:25 sed ut impleatur sermo qui in 25. But this cometh to pass, that the
lege eorum scriptus est quia odio me word might be fulfilled that is written
habuerunt gratis in their law, They hated me without a
                                             cause.

15:26 cum autem venerit paracletus 26. But when the Comforter is come,
quem ego mittam vobis a Patre Spiritum whom I will send unto you from the
veritatis qui a Patre procedit ille Father, even the Spirit of truth, which
testimonium perhibebit de me proceedeth from the Father, he shall
                                             testify of me:

15:27 et vos testimonium perhibetis 27. And ye also shall bear witness,
quia ab initio mecum estis because ye have been with me from the
                                             beginning.
