Even so, Amen.
1:8 ego sum Alpha et Omega principium 8. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning
et finis dicit Dominus Deus qui est et and the ending, saith the Lord, which
qui erat et qui venturus est Omnipotens is, and which was, and which is to
come, the Almighty.
1:9 ego Iohannes frater vester et 9. I John, who also am your brother,
particeps in tribulatione et regno et and companion in tribulation, and in
patientia in Iesu fui in insula quae the kingdom and patience of Jesus
appellatur Patmos propter verbum Dei et Christ, was in the isle that is called
testimonium Iesu Patmos, for the word of God, and for
the testimony of Jesus Christ.
1:10 fui in spiritu in dominica die et 10. I was in the Spirit on the Lord's
audivi post me vocem magnam tamquam day, and heard behind me a great voice,
tubae as of a trumpet,
1:11 dicentis quod vides scribe in 11. Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the
libro et mitte septem ecclesiis Ephesum first and the last: and, What thou
et Zmyrnam et Pergamum et Thyatiram et seest, write in a book, and send it
Sardis et Philadelphiam et Laodiciam unto the seven churches which are in
Asia; unto Ephesus, and unto Smyrna,
and unto Pergamos, and unto Thyatira,
and unto Sardis, and unto Philadelphia,
and unto Laodicea.
1:12 et conversus sum ut viderem vocem 12. And I turned to see the voice that
quae loquebatur mecum et conversus vidi spake with me. And being turned, I saw
septem candelabra aurea seven golden candlesticks;
1:13 et in medio septem candelabrorum 13. And in the midst of the seven
similem Filio hominis vestitum podere candlesticks one like unto the Son of
et praecinctum ad mamillas zonam auream man, clothed with a garment down to the
foot, and girt about the paps with a
golden girdle.
1:14 caput autem eius et capilli erant 14. His head and his hairs were white
candidi tamquam lana alba tamquam nix like wool, as white as snow; and his
et oculi eius velut flamma ignis eyes were as a flame of fire;
1:15 et pedes eius similes orichalco 15. And his feet like unto fine brass,
sicut in camino ardenti et vox illius as if they burned in a furnace; and his
tamquam vox aquarum multarum voice as the sound of many waters.
1:16 et habebat in dextera sua stellas 16. And he had in his right hand seven
septem et de ore eius gladius utraque stars: and out of his mouth went a
parte acutus exiebat et facies eius sharp twoedged sword: and his
sicut sol lucet in virtute sua countenance was as the sun shineth in
his strength.
1:17 et cum vidissem eum cecidi ad 17. And when I saw him, I fell at his
pedes eius tamquam mortuus et posuit feet as dead. And he laid his right
dexteram suam super me dicens noli hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not;
timere ego sum primus et novissimus I am the first and the last:
1:18 et vivus et fui mortuus et ecce 18. I am he that liveth, and was dead;
sum vivens in saecula saeculorum et and, behold, I am alive for evermore,
habeo claves mortis et inferni Amen; and have the keys of hell and of
death.
1:19 scribe ergo quae vidisti et quae 19. Write the things which thou hast
sunt et quae oportet fieri post haec seen, and the things which are, and the
things which shall be hereafter;
1:20 sacramentum septem stellarum quas 20. The mystery of the seven stars
vidisti in dextera mea et septem which thou sawest in my right hand, and
candelabra aurea septem stellae angeli the seven golden candlesticks. The
sunt septem ecclesiarum et candelabra seven stars are the angels of the seven
septem septem ecclesiae sunt churches: and the seven candlesticks
which thou sawest are the seven
churches.
