17:1 et venit unus de septem angelis 1. And there came one of the seven
qui habebant septem fialas et locutus angels which had the seven vials, and
est mecum dicens veni ostendam tibi talked with me, saying unto me, Come
damnationem meretricis magnae quae hither; I will shew unto thee the
sedet super aquas multas judgment of the great whore that
                                             sitteth upon many waters:

17:2 cum qua fornicati sunt reges 2. With whom the kings of the earth
terrae et inebriati sunt qui inhabitant have committed fornication, and the
terram de vino prostitutionis eius inhabitants of the earth have been made
drunk with the wine of her fornication.

17:3 et abstulit me in desertum in 3. So he carried me away in the spirit
spiritu et vidi mulierem sedentem super into the wilderness: and I saw a woman
bestiam coccineam plenam nominibus sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full
blasphemiae habentem capita septem et of names of blasphemy, having seven
cornua decem heads and ten horns.

17:4 et mulier erat circumdata purpura 4. And the woman was arrayed in purple
et coccino et inaurata auro et lapide and scarlet colour, and decked with
pretioso et margaritis habens poculum gold and precious stones and pearls,
aureum in manu sua plenum abominationum having a golden cup in her hand full of
et inmunditia fornicationis eius abominations and filthiness of her
                                             fornication:

17:5 et in fronte eius nomen scriptum 5. And upon her forehead was a name
mysterium Babylon magna mater written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT,
fornicationum et abominationum terrae THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS
                                             OF THE EARTH.

17:6 et vidi mulierem ebriam de 6. And I saw the woman drunken with
sanguine sanctorum et de sanguine the blood of the saints, and with the
martyrum Iesu et miratus sum cum blood of the martyrs of Jesus: and when
vidissem illam admiratione magna I saw her, I wondered with great
                                             admiration.

17:7 et dixit mihi angelus quare 7. And the angel said unto me,
miraris ego tibi dicam sacramentum Wherefore didst thou marvel? I will
mulieris et bestiae quae portat eam tell thee the mystery of the woman, and
quae habet capita septem et decem cornua of the beast that carrieth her, which
hath the seven heads and ten horns.
