Then drew near unto him all the publicani et peccatores ut audirent publicans and sinners for to hear him. illum 15:2 et murmurabant Pharisaei et 2. And the Pharisees and scribes scribae dicentes quia hic peccatores murmured, saying, This man receiveth recipit et manducat cum illis sinners, and eateth with them. 15:3 et ait ad illos parabolam istam 3. And he spake this parable unto dicens them, saying, 15:4 quis ex vobis homo qui habet 4. What man of you, having an hundred centum oves et si perdiderit unam ex sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not illis nonne dimittit nonaginta novem in leave the ninety and nine in the deserto et vadit ad illam quae perierat wilderness, and go after that which is donec inveniat illam lost, until he find it? 15:5 et cum invenerit eam inponit in 5. And when he hath found it, he umeros suos gaudens layeth it on his shoulders, rejoicing. 15:6 et veniens domum convocat amicos 6. And when he cometh home, he calleth et vicinos dicens illis congratulamini together his friends and neighbours, mihi quia inveni ovem meam quae perierat saying unto them, Rejoice with me; for I have found my sheep which was lost. 15:7 dico vobis quod ita gaudium erit 7. I say unto you, that likewise joy in caelo super uno peccatore shall be in heaven over one sinner that paenitentiam habente quam super repenteth, more than over ninety and nonaginta novem iustis qui non indigent nine just persons, which need no paenitentia repentance. 15:8 aut quae mulier habens dragmas 8. Either what woman having ten pieces decem si perdiderit dragmam unam nonne of silver, if she lose one piece, doth accendit lucernam et everrit domum et not light a candle, and sweep the quaerit diligenter donec inveniat house, and seek diligently till she find it? 15:9 et cum invenerit convocat amicas 9. And when she hath found it, she et vicinas dicens congratulamini mihi calleth her friends and her neighbours quia inveni dragmam quam perdideram together, saying, Rejoice with me; for I have found the piece which I had lost. 15:10 ita dico vobis gaudium erit 10. Likewise, I say unto you, there is coram angelis Dei super uno peccatore joy in the presence of the angels of paenitentiam agente God over one sinner that repenteth. 15:11 ait autem homo quidam habuit 11. And he said, A certain man had two duos filios sons: 15:12 et dixit adulescentior ex illis 12. And the younger of them said to patri pater da mihi portionem his father, Father, give me the portion substantiae quae me contingit et of goods that falleth to me. And he divisit illis substantiam divided unto them his living. 15:13 et non post multos dies 13. And not many days after the congregatis omnibus adulescentior younger son gathered all together, and filius peregre profectus est in took his journey into a far country, regionem longinquam et ibi dissipavit and there wasted his substance with substantiam suam vivendo luxuriose riotous living. 15:14 et postquam omnia consummasset 14. And he would fain have filled his de siliquis quas porci manducabant et belly with the husks that the swine did nemo illi dabat eat: and no man gave unto him. 15:17 in se autem reversus dixit 17. And when he came to himself, he quanti mercennarii patris mei abundant said, How many hired servants of my panibus ego autem hic fame pereo father's have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger! 15:18 surgam et ibo ad patrem meum et 18. I will arise and go to my father, dicam illi pater peccavi in caelum et and will say unto him, Father, I have coram te sinned against heaven, and before thee, 15:19 et iam non sum dignus vocari 19. And am no more worthy to be called filius tuus fac me sicut unum de thy son: make me as one of thy hired mercennariis tuis servants. 15:20 et surgens venit ad patrem suum 20. And he arose, and came to his cum autem adhuc longe esset vidit illum father. But when he was yet a great way pater ipsius et misericordia motus est off, his father saw him, and had et adcurrens cecidit supra collum eius compassion, and ran, and fell on his et osculatus est illum neck, and kissed him. 15:21 dixitque ei filius pater peccavi 21. And the son said unto him, Father, in caelum et coram te iam non sum I have sinned against heaven, and in dignus vocari filius tuus thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy son. 15:22 dixit autem pater ad servos suos 22. But the father said to his cito proferte stolam primam et induite servants, Bring forth the best robe, illum et date anulum in manum eius et and put it on him; and put a ring on calciamenta in pedes his hand, and shoes on his feet: 15:23 et adducite vitulum saginatum et 23. And bring hither the fatted calf, occidite et manducemus et epulemur and kill it; and let us eat, and be merry: 15:24 quia hic filius meus mortuus 24. For this my son was dead, and is erat et revixit perierat et inventus alive again; he was lost, and is found. est et coeperunt epulari And they began to be merry. 15:25 erat autem filius eius senior in 25. Now his elder son was in the agro et cum veniret et adpropinquaret field: and as he came and drew nigh to domui audivit symphoniam et chorum the house, he heard musick and dancing. 15:26 et vocavit unum de servis et 26. And he called one of the servants, interrogavit quae haec essent and asked what these things meant. 15:27 isque dixit illi frater tuus 27. And he said unto him, Thy brother venit et occidit pater tuus vitulum is come; and thy father hath killed the saginatum quia salvum illum recepit fatted calf, because he hath received him safe and sound. 15:28 indignatus est autem et nolebat 28. And he was angry, and would not go introire pater ergo illius egressus in: therefore came his father out, and coepit rogare illum intreated him. 15:29 at ille respondens dixit patri 29. And he answering said to his suo ecce tot annis servio tibi et father, Lo, these many years do I serve numquam mandatum tuum praeterii et thee, neither transgressed I at any numquam dedisti mihi hedum ut cum time thy commandment: and yet thou amicis meis epularer never gavest me a kid, that I might make merry with my friends: 15:30 sed postquam filius tuus hic qui 30. But as soon as this thy son was devoravit substantiam suam cum come, which hath devoured thy living meretricibus venit occidisti illi with harlots, thou hast killed for him vitulum saginatum the fatted calf. 15:31 at ipse dixit illi fili tu 31. And he said unto him, Son, thou semper mecum es et omnia mea tua sunt art ever with me, and all that I have is thine. 15:32 epulari autem et gaudere 32.
