hunc hominem quasi avertentem populum this man unto me, as one that
et ecce ego coram vobis interrogans perverteth the people: and, behold, I,
nullam causam inveni in homine isto ex having examined him before you, have
his in quibus eum accusatis found no fault in this man touching
those things whereof ye accuse him:
23:15 sed neque Herodes nam remisi vos 15. No, nor yet Herod: for I sent you
ad illum et ecce nihil dignum morte to him; and, lo, nothing worthy of
actum est ei death is done unto him.
23:16 emendatum ergo illum dimittam 16. I will therefore chastise him, and
release him.
23:17 necesse autem habebat dimittere 17. (For of necessity he must release

mortis invenio in eo corripiam ergo have found no cause of death in him: I
illum et dimittam will therefore chastise him, and let
him go.
23:23 at illi instabant vocibus magnis 23. And they were instant with loud
postulantes ut crucifigeretur et voices, requiring that he might be
