17:1  et ad discipulos suos ait              1.  Then said he unto the disciples, It
inpossibile est ut non veniant scandala      is impossible but that offences will
vae autem illi per quem veniunt              come: but woe unto him, through whom
                                             they come!

17:2  utilius est illi si lapis molaris      2.  It were better for him that a
inponatur circa collum eius et               millstone were hanged about his neck,
proiciatur in mare quam ut scandalizet       and he cast into the sea, than that he
unum de pusillis istis                       should offend one of these little ones.

17:3  adtendite vobis si peccaverit          3.  Take heed to yourselves: If thy
frater tuus increpa illum et si              brother trespass against thee, rebuke
paenitentiam egerit dimitte illi             him; and if he repent, forgive him.

17:4  et si septies in die peccaverit        4.  And if he trespass against thee
in te et septies in die conversus            seven times in a day, and seven times
fuerit ad te dicens paenitet me dimitte      in a day turn again to thee, saying, I
illi                                         repent; thou shalt forgive him.

17:5  et dixerunt apostoli Domino            5.  And the apostles said unto the
adauge nobis fidem                           Lord, Increase our faith.

17:6  dixit autem Dominus si haberetis       6.  And the Lord said, If ye had faith
fidem sicut granum sinapis diceretis         as a grain of mustard seed, ye might
huic arbori moro eradicare et                say unto this sycamine tree, Be thou
transplantare in mare et oboediret vobis     plucked up by the root, and be thou
                                             planted in the sea; and it should obey
                                             you.

17:7  quis autem vestrum habens servum       7.  But which of you, having a servant
arantem aut pascentem qui regresso de        plowing or feeding cattle, will say
agro dicet illi statim transi recumbe        unto him by and by, when he is come
                                             from the field, Go and sit down to meat?

17:8  et non dicet ei para quod cenem        8.  And will not rather say unto him,
et praecinge te et ministra mihi donec       Make ready wherewith I may sup, and
manducem et bibam et post haec tu            gird thyself, and serve me, till I have
manducabis et bibes                          eaten and drunken; and afterward thou
                                             shalt eat and drink?

17:9  numquid gratiam habet servo illi       9.  Doth he thank that servant because
quia fecit quae sibi imperaverat non         he did the things that were commanded
puto                                         him? I trow not.

17:10  sic et vos cum feceritis omnia        10.  So likewise ye, when ye shall have
quae praecepta sunt vobis dicite servi       done all those things which are
inutiles sumus quod debuimus facere          commanded you, say, We are unprofitable
fecimus                                      servants: we have done that which was
                                             our duty to do.

17:11  et factum est dum iret in             11.  And it came to pass, as he went to
Hierusalem transiebat per mediam             Jerusalem, that he passed through the
Samariam et Galilaeam                        midst of Samaria and Galilee.

17:12  et cum ingrederetur quoddam           12.  And as he entered into a certain
castellum occurrerunt ei decem viri          village, there met him ten men that
leprosi qui steterunt a longe                were lepers, which stood afar off:

17:13  et levaverunt vocem dicentes          13.  And they lifted up their voices,
Iesu praeceptor miserere nostri              and said, Jesus, Master, have mercy on
                                             us.

17:14  quos ut vidit dixit ite               14.  And when he saw them, he said unto
ostendite vos sacerdotibus et factum         them, Go shew yourselves unto the

                                             they went, they were cleansed.

17:15  unus autem ex illis ut vidit          15.  And one of them, when he saw that

17:16  et cecidit in faciem ante pedes       16.  And fell down on his face at his
eius gratias agens et hic erat               feet, giving him thanks: and he was a
Samaritanus                                  Samaritan.

17:17  respondens autem Iesus dixit          17.  And Jesus answering said, Were
nonne decem mundati sunt et novem ubi        there not ten cleansed? but where are
sunt                                         the nine?

17:18  non est inventus qui rediret et       18.  There are not found that returned
daret gloriam Deo nisi hic alienigena        to give glory to God, save this
                                             stranger.

17:19  et ait illi surge vade quia           19.  And he said unto him, Arise, go
fides tua te salvum fecit                    thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole.

17:20  interrogatus autem a Pharisaeis       20.  And when he was demanded of the

17:22  et ait ad discipulos venient          22.  And he said unto the disciples,
dies quando desideretis videre unum          The days will come, when ye shall
diem Filii hominis et non videbitis          desire to see one of the days of the
                                             Son of man, and ye shall not see it.

17:23  et dicent vobis ecce hic ecce         23.  And they shall say to you, See
illic nolite ire neque sectemini             here; or, see there: go not after them,
                                             nor follow them.

17:24  nam sicut fulgur coruscans de         24.  For as the lightning, that
sub caelo in ea quae sub caelo sunt          lighteneth out of the one part under
fulget ita erit Filius hominis in die        heaven, shineth unto the other part
sua                                          under heaven; so shall also the Son of
                                             man be in his day.

17:25  primum autem oportet illum multa      25.  But first must he suffer many
pati et reprobari a generatione hac          things, and be rejected of this
                                             generation.

17:26  et sicut factum est in diebus         26.  And as it was in the days of Noe,
Noe ita erit et in diebus Filii hominis      so shall it be also in the days of the
                                             Son of man.

17:27  edebant et bibebant uxores            27.  They did eat, they drank, they
ducebant et dabantur ad nuptias usque        married wives, they were given in
in diem qua intravit Noe in arcam et         marriage, until the day that Noe
venit diluvium et perdidit omnes             entered into the ark, and the flood
                                             came, and destroyed them all.

17:28  similiter sicut factum est in         28.  Likewise also as it was in the
diebus Loth edebant et bibebant emebant      days of Lot; they did eat, they drank,
et vendebant plantabant aedificabant         they bought, they sold, they planted,
                                             they builded;

17:29  qua die autem exiit Loth a            29.  But the same day that Lot went out
Sodomis pluit ignem et sulphur de caelo      of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone
et omnes perdidit                            from heaven, and destroyed them all.

17:30  secundum haec erit qua die            30.  Even thus shall it be in the day
Filius hominis revelabitur                   when the Son of man is revealed.

17:31  in illa hora qui fuerit in tecto      31.  In that day, he which shall be
et vasa eius in domo ne descendat            upon the housetop, and his stuff in the
tollere illa et qui in agro similiter        house, let him not come down to take it
non redeat retro                             away: and he that is in the field, let
                                             him likewise not return back.

17:32  memores estote uxoris Loth            32.  Remember Lot's wife.

17:33  quicumque quaesierit animam suam      33.  Whosoever shall seek to save his
salvare perdet illam et qui perdiderit       life shall lose it; and whosoever shall
illam vivificabit eam                        lose his life shall preserve it.

17:34  dico vobis illa nocte erunt duo       34.  I tell you, in that night there
in lecto uno unus adsumetur et alter         shall be two men in one bed; the one
relinquetur                                  shall be taken, and the other shall be
                                             left.

17:35  duae erunt molentes in unum una       35.  Two women shall be grinding
adsumetur et altera relinquetur duo in       together; the one shall be taken, and
agro unus adsumetur et alter relinquetur     the other left.

17:36  respondentes dicunt illi ubi          36.  Two men shall be in the field; the
Domine                                       one shall be taken, and the other left.

17:37  qui dixit eis ubicumque fuerit        37.  And they answered and said unto
corpus illuc congregabuntur aquilae          him, Where, Lord? And he said unto
                                             them, Wheresoever the body is, thither
                                             will the eagles be gathered together.
