19:1 et ingressus perambulabat Hiericho 1. And Jesus entered and passed
                                             through Jericho.

19:2 et ecce vir nomine Zaccheus et 2. And, behold, there was a man named
hic erat princeps publicanorum et ipse Zacchaeus, which was the chief among
dives the publicans, and he was rich.

19:3 et quaerebat videre Iesum quis 3. And he sought to see Jesus who he
esset et non poterat prae turba quia was; and could not for the press,
statura pusillus erat because he was little of stature.

19:4 et praecurrens ascendit in 4. And he ran before, and climbed up
arborem sycomorum ut videret illum quia into a sycomore tree to see him: for he
inde erat transiturus was to pass that way.

19:5 et cum venisset ad locum 5. And when Jesus came to the place,
suspiciens Iesus vidit illum et dixit he looked up, and saw him, and said
ad eum Zacchee festinans descende quia unto him, Zacchaeus, make haste, and
hodie in domo tua oportet me manere come down; for to day I must abide at
                                             thy house.

19:6 et festinans descendit et excepit 6. And he made haste, and came down,
illum gaudens and received him joyfully.

19:7 et cum viderent omnes murmurabant 7. And when they saw it, they all
dicentes quod ad hominem peccatorem murmured, saying, That he was gone to

19:8 stans autem Zaccheus dixit ad 8. And Zacchaeus stood, and said unto
Dominum ecce dimidium bonorum meorum the Lord: Behold, Lord, the half of my

                                             accusation, I restore him fourfold.

19:9 ait Iesus ad eum quia hodie salus 9. And Jesus said unto him, This day
domui huic facta est eo quod et ipse is salvation come to this house,
filius sit Abrahae forsomuch as he also is a son of
                                             Abraham.

19:10 venit enim Filius hominis 10. For the Son of man is come to seek
quaerere et salvum facere quod perierat and to save that which was lost.

19:11 haec illis audientibus adiciens 11. And as they heard these things, he
dixit parabolam eo quod esset prope added and spake a parable, because he
Hierusalem et quia existimarent quod was nigh to Jerusalem, and because they
confestim regnum Dei manifestaretur thought that the kingdom of God should
                                             immediately appear.

19:12 dixit ergo homo quidam nobilis 12. He said therefore, A certain
abiit in regionem longinquam accipere nobleman went into a far country to
sibi regnum et reverti receive for himself a kingdom, and to
                                             return.

19:13 vocatis autem decem servis suis 13. And he called his ten servants,
dedit illis decem mnas et ait ad illos and delivered them ten pounds, and said
negotiamini dum venio unto them, Occupy till I come.

19:14 cives autem eius oderant illum 14. But his citizens hated him, and
et miserunt legationem post illum sent a message after him, saying, We
dicentes nolumus hunc regnare super nos will not have this man to reign over us.

19:15 et factum est ut rediret accepto 15. And it came to pass, that when he
regno et iussit vocari servos quibus was returned, having received the
dedit pecuniam ut sciret quantum kingdom, then he commanded these
quisque negotiatus esset servants to be called unto him, to whom
he had given the money, that he might
know how much every man had gained by
                                             trading.

19:16 venit autem primus dicens domine 16. Then came the first, saying, Lord,
mna tua decem mnas adquisivit thy pound hath gained ten pounds.

19:17 et ait illi euge bone serve quia 17. And he said unto him, Well, thou
in modico fidelis fuisti eris good servant: because thou hast been
potestatem habens supra decem civitates faithful in a very little, have thou
                                             authority over ten cities.

19:18 et alter venit dicens domine mna 18. And the second came, saying, Lord,
tua fecit quinque mnas thy pound hath gained five pounds.

19:19 et huic ait et tu esto supra 19. And he said likewise to him, Be
quinque civitates thou also over five cities.

19:20 et alter venit dicens domine 20. And another came, saying, Lord,
ecce mna tua quam habui repositam in behold, here is thy pound, which I have
sudario kept laid up in a napkin:

19:21 timui enim te quia homo austeris 21. For I feared thee, because thou
es tollis quod non posuisti et metis art an austere man: thou takest up that
quod non seminasti thou layedst not down, and reapest that
                                             thou didst not sow.

19:22 dicit ei de ore tuo te iudico 22. And he saith unto him, Out of
serve nequam sciebas quod ego austeris thine own mouth will I judge thee, thou
homo sum tollens quod non posui et wicked servant. Thou knewest that I was
metens quod non seminavi an austere man, taking up that I laid
not down, and reaping that I did not
                                             sow:

19:23 et quare non dedisti pecuniam 23. Wherefore then gavest not thou my
meam ad mensam et ego veniens cum money into the bank, that at my coming
usuris utique exegissem illud I might have required mine own with
                                             usury?

19:24 et adstantibus dixit auferte ab 24. And he said unto them that stood
illo mnam et date illi qui decem mnas by, Take from him the pound, and give
habet it to him that hath ten pounds.

19:25 et dixerunt ei domine habet 25. (And they said unto him, Lord, he
decem mnas hath ten pounds.)

19:26 dico autem vobis quia omni 26. For I say unto you, That unto
habenti dabitur ab eo autem qui non          every one which hath shall be given;
habet et quod habet auferetur ab eo and from him that hath not, even that
he hath shall be taken away from him.

19:27 verumtamen inimicos meos illos 27. But those mine enemies, which
qui noluerunt me regnare super se would not that I should reign over
adducite huc et interficite ante me them, bring hither, and slay them
                                             before me.

19:28 et his dictis praecedebat 28. And when he had thus spoken, he
ascendens in Hierosolyma went before, ascending up to Jerusalem.

19:29 et factum est cum 29. And it came to pass, when he was
adpropinquasset ad Bethfage et Bethania come nigh to Bethphage and Bethany, at
ad montem qui vocatur Oliveti misit the mount called the mount of Olives,
duos discipulos suos he sent two of his disciples,

19:30 dicens ite in castellum quod 30. Saying, Go ye into the village
contra est in quod introeuntes over against you; in the which at your
invenietis pullum asinae alligatum cui entering ye shall find a colt tied,
nemo umquam hominum sedit solvite illum whereon yet never man sat: loose him,
et adducite and bring him hither.

19:31 et si quis vos interrogaverit 31. And if any man ask you, Why do ye
quare solvitis sic dicetis ei quia loose him? thus shall ye say unto him,
Dominus operam eius desiderat Because the Lord hath need of him.

19:32 abierunt autem qui missi erant 32. And they that were sent went their
et invenerunt sicut dixit illis stantem way, and found even as he had said unto
pullum them.

19:33 solventibus autem illis pullum 33. And as they were loosing the colt,
dixerunt domini eius ad illos quid the owners thereof said unto them, Why
solvitis pullum loose ye the colt?

19:34 at illi dixerunt quia Dominus 34. And they said, The Lord hath need
eum necessarium habet of him.

19:35 et duxerunt illum ad Iesum et 35. And they brought him to Jesus: and
iactantes vestimenta sua supra pullum they cast their garments upon the colt,
inposuerunt Iesum and they set Jesus thereon.

19:36 eunte autem illo substernebant 36. And as he went, they spread their
vestimenta sua in via clothes in the way.

19:37 et cum adpropinquaret iam ad 37. And when he was come nigh, even
descensum montis Oliveti coeperunt now at the descent of the mount of
omnes turbae discentium gaudentes Olives, the whole multitude of the
laudare Deum voce magna super omnibus disciples began to rejoice and praise
quas viderant virtutibus God with a loud voice for all the
                                             mighty works that they had seen;

19:38 dicentes benedictus qui venit 38. Saying, Blessed be the King that
rex in nomine Domini pax in caelo et cometh in the name of the Lord: peace
gloria in excelsis in heaven, and glory in the highest.

19:39 et quidam Pharisaeorum de turbis 39. And some of the Pharisees from
dixerunt ad illum magister increpa among the multitude said unto him,
discipulos tuos Master, rebuke thy disciples.

19:40 quibus ipse ait dico vobis quia 40. And he answered and said unto
si hii tacuerint lapides clamabunt them, I tell you that, if these should
hold their peace, the stones would
                                             immediately cry out.

19:41 et ut adpropinquavit videns 41. And when he was come near, he
civitatem flevit super illam dicens beheld the city, and wept over it,

19:42 quia si cognovisses et tu et 42. Saying, If thou hadst known, even
quidem in hac die tua quae ad pacem thou, at least in this thy day, the
tibi nunc autem abscondita sunt ab things which belong unto thy peace! but
oculis tuis now they are hid from thine eyes.

19:43 quia venient dies in te et 43. For the days shall come upon thee,
circumdabunt te inimici tui vallo et that thine enemies shall cast a trench
circumdabunt te et coangustabunt te about thee, and compass thee round, and
undique keep thee in on every side,

19:44 ad terram prosternent te et 44. And shall lay thee even with the
filios qui in te sunt et non relinquent      ground, and thy children within thee;
in te lapidem super lapidem eo quod non and they shall not leave in thee one
cognoveris tempus visitationis tuae stone upon another; because thou
knewest not the time of thy visitation.

19:45 et ingressus in templum coepit 45. And he went into the temple, and
eicere vendentes in illo et ementes began to cast out them that sold
                                             therein, and them that bought;

19:46 dicens illis scriptum est quia 46. Saying unto them, It is written,
domus mea domus orationis est vos autem My house is the house of prayer: but ye
fecistis illam speluncam latronum have made it a den of thieves.

19:47 et erat docens cotidie in templo 47. And he taught daily in the temple.
principes autem sacerdotum et scribae But the chief priests and the scribes
et principes plebis quaerebant illum and the chief of the people sought to
perdere destroy him,

19:48 et non inveniebant quid facerent 48. And could not find what they might
illi omnis enim populus suspensus erat do: for all the people were very
audiens illum attentive to hear him.
