And it came to pass afterward, that iter faciebat per civitatem et he went throughout every city and castellum praedicans et evangelizans village, preaching and shewing the glad regnum Dei et duodecim cum illo tidings of the kingdom of God: and the twelve were with him, 8:2 et mulieres aliquae quae erant 2. And certain women, which had been curatae ab spiritibus malignis et healed of evil spirits and infirmities, infirmitatibus Maria quae vocatur Mary called Magdalene, out of whom went Magdalene de qua daemonia septem seven devils, exierant 8:3 et Iohanna uxor Chuza procuratoris 3. And Joanna the wife of Chuza Herodis et Susanna et aliae multae quae Herod's steward, and Susanna, and many ministrabant eis de facultatibus suis others, which ministered unto him of their substance. 8:4 cum autem turba plurima conveniret 4. And when much people were gathered et de civitatibus properarent ad eum together, and were come to him out of dixit per similitudinem every city, he spake by a parable: 8:5 exiit qui seminat seminare semen 5. A sower went out to sow his seed: suum et dum seminat aliud cecidit secus and as he sowed, some fell by the way viam et conculcatum est et volucres side; and it was trodden down, and the caeli comederunt illud fowls of the air devoured it. 8:6 et aliud cecidit supra petram et 6. And some fell upon a rock; and as natum aruit quia non habebat humorem soon as it was sprung up, it withered away, because it lacked moisture. 8:7 et aliud cecidit inter spinas et 7. And some fell among thorns; and the simul exortae spinae suffocaverunt illud thorns sprang up with it, and choked it. 8:8 et aliud cecidit in terram bonam 8. And other fell on good ground, and et ortum fecit fructum centuplum haec sprang up, and bare fruit an dicens clamabat qui habet aures hundredfold. And when he had said these audiendi audiat things, he cried, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear. 8:9 interrogabant autem eum discipuli 9. And his disciples asked him, eius quae esset haec parabola saying, What might this parable be? 8:10 quibus ipse dixit vobis datum est 10. And he said, Unto you it is given nosse mysterium regni Dei ceteris autem to know the mysteries of the kingdom of in parabolis ut videntes non videant et God: but to others in parables; that audientes non intellegant seeing they might not see, and hearing they might not understand. 8:11 est autem haec parabola semen est 11. Now the parable is this: The seed verbum Dei is the word of God. 8:12 qui autem secus viam sunt qui 12. Those by the way side are they audiunt deinde venit diabolus et tollit that hear; then cometh the devil, and verbum de corde eorum ne credentes taketh away the word out of their salvi fiant hearts, lest they should believe and be saved. 8:13 nam qui supra petram qui cum 13. They on the rock are they, which, audierint cum gaudio suscipiunt verbum when they hear, receive the word with et hii radices non habent qui ad tempus joy; and these have no root, which for credunt et in tempore temptationis a while believe, and in time of recedunt temptation fall away. 8:14 quod autem in spinis cecidit hii 14. And that which fell among thorns sunt qui audierunt et a are they, which, when they have heard, sollicitudinibus et divitiis et go forth, and are choked with cares and voluptatibus vitae euntes suffocantur riches and pleasures of this life, and et non referunt fructum bring no fruit to perfection. 8:15 quod autem in bonam terram hii 15. But that on the good ground are sunt qui in corde bono et optimo they, which in an honest and good audientes verbum retinent et fructum heart, having heard the word, keep it, adferunt in patientia and bring forth fruit with patience. 8:16 nemo autem lucernam accendens 16. No man, when he hath lighted a operit eam vaso aut subtus lectum ponit candle, covereth it with a vessel, or sed supra candelabrum ponit ut putteth it under a bed; but setteth it intrantes videant lumen on a candlestick, that they which enter in may see the light. 8:17 non enim est occultum quod non 17. For nothing is secret, that shall manifestetur nec absconditum quod non not be made manifest; neither any thing cognoscatur et in palam veniat hid, that shall not be known and come abroad. 8:18 videte ergo quomodo auditis qui 18. Take heed therefore how ye hear: enim habet dabitur illi et quicumque for whosoever hath, to him shall be non habet etiam quod putat se habere given; and whosoever hath not, from him auferetur ab illo shall be taken even that which he seemeth to have. 8:19 venerunt autem ad illum mater et 19. Then came to him his mother and fratres eius et non poterant adire ad his brethren, and could not come at him eum prae turba for the press. 8:20 et nuntiatum est illi mater tua 20. Now it came to pass on a certain ipse ascendit in naviculam et discipuli day, that he went into a ship with his eius et ait ad illos transfretemus disciples: and he said unto them, Let trans stagnum et ascenderunt us go over unto the other side of the lake. And they launched forth. 8:23 navigantibus autem illis 23. But as they sailed he fell asleep: obdormiit et descendit procella venti and there came down a storm of wind on in stagnum et conplebantur et the lake; and they were filled with periclitabantur water, and were in jeopardy. 8:24 accedentes autem suscitaverunt 24. And they came to him, and awoke eum dicentes praeceptor perimus at ille him, saying, Master, master, we perish. surgens increpavit ventum et Then he arose, and rebuked the wind and tempestatem aquae et cessavit et facta the raging of the water: and they est tranquillitas ceased, and there was a calm. 8:25 dixit autem illis ubi est fides 25. And he said unto them, Where is vestra qui timentes mirati sunt your faith? And they being afraid dicentes ad invicem quis putas hic est wondered, saying one to another, What quia et ventis imperat et mari et manner of man is this! for he oboediunt ei commandeth even the winds and water, and they obey him. 8:26 enavigaverunt autem ad regionem 26. And they arrived at the country of Gerasenorum quae est contra Galilaeam the Gadarenes, which is over against Galilee. 8:27 et cum egressus esset ad terram 27. And when he went forth to land, occurrit illi vir quidam qui habebat there met him out of the city a certain daemonium iam temporibus multis et man, which had devils long time, and vestimento non induebatur neque in domo ware no clothes, neither abode in any manebat sed in monumentis house, but in the tombs. 8:28 is ut vidit Iesum procidit ante 28. When he saw Jesus, he cried out, illum et exclamans voce magna dixit and fell down before him, and with a quid mihi et tibi est Iesu Fili Dei loud voice said, What have I to do with altissimi obsecro te ne me torqueas thee, Jesus, thou Son of God most high? Now the man out of whom the devils daemonia exierant ut cum eo esset were departed besought him that he dimisit autem eum Iesus dicens might be with him: but Jesus sent him away, saying, 8:39 redi domum tuam et narra quanta 39. Return to thine own house, and tibi fecit Deus et abiit per universam shew how great things God hath done civitatem praedicans quanta illi unto thee. And he went his way, and fecisset Iesus published throughout the whole city how great things Jesus had done unto him. 8:40 factum est autem cum redisset 40. And it came to pass, that, when Iesus excepit illum turba erant enim Jesus was returned, the people gladly omnes expectantes eum received him: for they were all waiting for him. 8:41 et ecce venit vir cui nomen 41. And, behold, there came a man Iairus et ipse princeps synagogae erat named Jairus, and he was a ruler of the et cecidit ad pedes Iesu rogans eum ut synagogue: and he fell down at Jesus' intraret in domum eius feet, and besought him that he would come into his house: 8:42 quia filia unica erat illi fere 42. For he had one only daughter, annorum duodecim et haec moriebatur et about twelve years of age, and she lay contigit dum iret a turbis conprimebatur a dying. But as he went the people thronged him. 8:43 et mulier quaedam erat in fluxu 43. And a woman having an issue of sanguinis ab annis duodecim quae in blood twelve years, which had spent all medicos erogaverat omnem substantiam her living upon physicians, neither suam nec ab ullo potuit curari could be healed of any, 8:44 accessit retro et tetigit 44. Came behind him, and touched the fimbriam vestimenti eius et confestim border of his garment: and immediately stetit fluxus sanguinis eius her issue of blood stanched. 8:45 et ait Iesus quis est qui me 45. And Jesus said, Who touched me? tetigit negantibus autem omnibus dixit When all denied, Peter and they that Petrus et qui cum illo erant praeceptor were with him said, Master, the turbae te conprimunt et adfligunt et multitude throng thee and press thee, dicis quis me tetigit and sayest thou, Who touched me? 8:46 et dixit Iesus tetigit me aliquis 46. And Jesus said, Somebody hath nam ego novi virtutem de me exisse touched me: for I perceive that virtue is gone out of me. 8:47 videns autem mulier quia non 47. And when the woman saw that she latuit tremens venit et procidit ante was not hid, she came trembling, and pedes illius et ob quam causam falling down before him, she declared tetigerit eum indicavit coram omni unto him before all the people for what populo et quemadmodum confestim sanata cause she had touched him, and how she sit was healed immediately. 8:48 at ipse dixit illi filia fides 48. And he said unto her, Daughter, be tua te salvam fecit vade in pace of good comfort: thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace. 8:49 adhuc illo loquente venit a 49. While he yet spake, there cometh principe synagogae dicens ei quia one from the ruler of the synagogue's mortua est filia tua noli vexare illum house, saying to him, Thy daughter is dead; trouble not the Master. 8:50 Iesus autem audito hoc verbo 50. But when Jesus heard it, he respondit patri puellae noli timere answered him, saying, Fear not: believe crede tantum et salva erit only, and she shall be made whole. 8:51 et cum venisset domum non 51. And when he came into the house, permisit intrare secum quemquam nisi he suffered no man to go in, save Petrum et Iohannem et Iacobum et patrem Peter, and James, and John, and the et matrem puellae father and the mother of the maiden. 8:52 flebant autem omnes et plangebant 52. And all wept, and bewailed her: illam at ille dixit nolite flere non but he said, Weep not; she is not dead, est mortua sed dormit but sleepeth. 8:53 et deridebant eum scientes quia 53. And they laughed him to scorn, mortua esset knowing that she was dead. 8:54 ipse autem tenens manum eius 54. And he put them all out, and took clamavit dicens puella surge her by the hand, and called, saying, Maid, arise. 8:55 et reversus est spiritus eius et 55. And her spirit came again, and she surrexit continuo et iussit illi dari arose straightway: and he commanded to manducare give her meat. 8:56 et stupuerunt parentes eius 56.
