And when he had called unto him his suis dedit illis potestatem spirituum twelve disciples, he gave them power inmundorum ut eicerent eos et curarent against unclean spirits, to cast them omnem languorem et omnem infirmitatem out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease. 10:2 duodecim autem apostolorum nomina 2. Now the names of the twelve sunt haec primus Simon qui dicitur apostles are these; The first, Simon, Petrus et Andreas frater eius who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother; 10:3 Iacobus Zebedaei et Iohannes 3. Philip, and Bartholomew; Thomas, frater eius Philippus et Bartholomeus and Matthew the publican; James the son Thomas et Mattheus publicanus et of Alphaeus, and Lebbaeus, whose Iacobus Alphei et Thaddeus surname was Thaddaeus; 10:4 Simon Cananeus et Iudas Scariotes 4. Nor scrip for your journey, tunicas neque calciamenta neque virgam neither two coats, neither shoes, nor dignus enim est operarius cibo suo yet staves: for the workman is worthy of his meat. 10:11 in quamcumque civitatem aut 11. And into whatsoever city or town castellum intraveritis interrogate quis ye shall enter, enquire who in it is in ea dignus sit et ibi manete donec worthy; and there abide till ye go exeatis thence. 10:12 intrantes autem in domum salutate 12. And when ye come into an house, eam salute it. 10:13 et siquidem fuerit domus digna 13. And if the house be worthy, let veniat pax vestra super eam si autem your peace come upon it: but if it be non fuerit digna pax vestra ad vos not worthy, let your peace return to revertatur you. 10:14 et quicumque non receperit vos 14. But beware of men: for they will enim vos in conciliis et in synagogis deliver you up to the councils, and suis flagellabunt vos they will scourge you in their synagogues; 10:18 et ad praesides et ad reges 18. And ye shall be brought before ducemini propter me in testimonium governors and kings for my sake, for a illis et gentibus testimony against them and the Gentiles. 10:19 cum autem tradent vos nolite 19. But when they deliver you up, take cogitare quomodo aut quid loquamini no thought how or what ye shall speak: dabitur enim vobis in illa hora quid for it shall be given you in that same loquamini hour what ye shall speak. 10:20 non enim vos estis qui loquimini 20. For it is not ye that speak, but sed Spiritus Patris vestri qui loquitur the Spirit of your Father which in vobis speaketh in you. 10:21 tradet autem frater fratrem in 21. And the brother shall deliver up mortem et pater filium et insurgent the brother to death, and the father filii in parentes et morte eos adficient the child: and the children shall rise up against their parents, and cause them to be put to death. 10:22 et eritis odio omnibus propter 22. And ye shall be hated of all men nomen meum qui autem perseveraverit in for my name's sake: but he that finem hic salvus erit endureth to the end shall be saved. 10:23 cum autem persequentur vos in 23. But when they persecute you in civitate ista fugite in aliam amen enim this city, flee ye into another: for dico vobis non consummabitis civitates verily I say unto you, Ye shall not Israhel donec veniat Filius hominis have gone over the cities of Israel, till the Son of man be come. 10:24 non est discipulus super 24. The disciple is not above his magistrum nec servus super dominum suum master, nor the servant above his lord. 10:25 sufficit discipulo ut sit sicut 25. It is enough for the disciple that magister eius et servus sicut dominus he be as his master, and the servant as eius si patrem familias Beelzebub his lord. If they have called the vocaverunt quanto magis domesticos eius master of the house Beelzebub, how much more shall they call them of his household? 10:26 ne ergo timueritis eos nihil enim 26. Fear them not therefore: for there opertum quod non revelabitur et is nothing covered, that shall not be occultum quod non scietur revealed; and hid, that shall not be known. 10:27 quod dico vobis in tenebris 27. What I tell you in darkness, that dicite in lumine et quod in aure speak ye in light: and what ye hear in auditis praedicate super tecta the ear, that preach ye upon the housetops. 10:28 et nolite timere eos qui occidunt 28. And fear not them which kill the corpus animam autem non possunt body, but are not able to kill the occidere sed potius eum timete qui soul: but rather fear him which is able potest et animam et corpus perdere in to destroy both soul and body in hell. gehennam 10:29 nonne duo passeres asse veneunt 29. Whosoever therefore shall confess coram hominibus confitebor et ego eum me before men, him will I confess also coram Patre meo qui est in caelis before my Father which is in heaven. 10:33 qui autem negaverit me coram 33. But whosoever shall deny me before hominibus negabo et ego eum coram Patre men, him will I also deny before my meo qui est in caelis Father which is in heaven. 10:34 nolite arbitrari quia venerim 34. Think not that I am come to send mittere pacem in terram non veni pacem peace on earth: I came not to send mittere sed gladium peace, but a sword. 10:35 veni enim separare hominem 35. For I am come to set a man at adversus patrem suum et filiam adversus variance against his father, and the matrem suam et nurum adversus socrum daughter against her mother, and the suam daughter in law against her mother in law. 10:36 et inimici hominis domestici eius 36. And a man's foes shall be they of his own household. 10:37 qui amat patrem aut matrem plus 37. He that loveth father or mother quam me non est me dignus et qui amat more than me is not worthy of me: and filium aut filiam super me non est me he that loveth son or daughter more dignus than me is not worthy of me. 10:38 et qui non accipit crucem suam et 38. And he that taketh not his cross, sequitur me non est me dignus and followeth after me, is not worthy of me. 10:39 qui invenit animam suam perdet 39. He that findeth his life shall illam et qui perdiderit animam suam lose it: and he that loseth his life propter me inveniet eam for my sake shall find it. 10:40 qui recipit vos me recipit et qui 40. He that receiveth you receiveth me recipit recipit eum qui me misit me, and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me. 10:41 qui recipit prophetam in nomine 41. He that receiveth a prophet in the prophetae mercedem prophetae accipiet name of a prophet shall receive a et qui recipit iustum in nomine iusti prophet's reward; and he that receiveth mercedem iusti accipiet a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man's reward. 10:42 et quicumque potum dederit uni ex 42.
