18:1 in illa hora accesserunt discipuli 1. At the same time came the disciples
ad Iesum dicentes quis putas maior est unto Jesus, saying, Who is the greatest
in regno caelorum in the kingdom of heaven?

18:2 et advocans Iesus parvulum statuit 2. And Jesus called a little child
eum in medio eorum unto him, and set him in the midst of
                                             them,

18:3 et dixit amen dico vobis nisi 3. And said, Verily I say unto you,
conversi fueritis et efficiamini sicut Except ye be converted, and become as
parvuli non intrabitis in regnum little children, ye shall not enter
caelorum into the kingdom of heaven.

18:4 quicumque ergo humiliaverit se 4. Whosoever therefore shall humble
sicut parvulus iste hic est maior in himself as this little child, the same
regno caelorum is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.

18:5 et qui susceperit unum parvulum 5. And whoso shall receive one such
talem in nomine meo me suscipit little child in my name receiveth me.

18:6 qui autem scandalizaverit unum de 6. But whoso shall offend one of these
pusillis istis qui in me credunt little ones which believe in me, it
expedit ei ut suspendatur mola asinaria were better for him that a millstone
in collo eius et demergatur in were hanged about his neck, and that he
profundum maris were drowned in the depth of the sea.

18:7 vae mundo ab scandalis necesse est 7. Woe unto the world because of
enim ut veniant scandala verumtamen vae offences! for it must needs be that
homini per quem scandalum venit offences come; but woe to that man by
                                             whom the offence cometh!

18:8 si autem manus tua vel pes tuus 8. Wherefore if thy hand or thy foot
scandalizat te abscide eum et proice offend thee, cut them off, and cast
abs te bonum tibi est ad vitam ingredi them from thee: it is better for thee
debilem vel clodum quam duas manus vel to enter into life halt or maimed,
duos pedes habentem mitti in ignem rather than having two hands or two
aeternum feet to be cast into everlasting fire.

18:9 et si oculus tuus scandalizat te 9. And if thine eye offend thee, pluck
erue eum et proice abs te bonum tibi it out, and cast it from thee: it is
est unoculum in vitam intrare quam duos better for thee to enter into life with
oculos habentem mitti in gehennam ignis one eye, rather than having two eyes to
                                             be cast into hell fire.

18:10 videte ne contemnatis unum ex his 10. Take heed that ye despise not one
pusillis dico enim vobis quia angeli of these little ones; for I say unto
eorum in caelis semper vident faciem you, That in heaven their angels do
Patris mei qui in caelis est always behold the face of my Father
                                             which is in heaven.

18:11 venit enim Filius hominis salvare 11. For the Son of man is come to save
quod perierat that which was lost.

18:12 quid vobis videtur si fuerint 12. How think ye? if a man have an
alicui centum oves et erraverit una ex hundred sheep, and one of them be gone
eis nonne relinquet nonaginta novem in astray, doth he not leave the ninety
montibus et vadit quaerere eam quae and nine, and goeth into the mountains,
erravit and seeketh that which is gone astray?

18:13 et si contigerit ut inveniat eam 13. And if so be that he find it,
amen dico vobis quia gaudebit super eam verily I say unto you, he rejoiceth
magis quam super nonaginta novem quae more of that sheep, than of the ninety
non erraverunt and nine which went not astray.

18:14 sic non est voluntas ante Patrem 14. Even so it is not the will of your
vestrum qui in caelis est ut pereat Father which is in heaven, that one of
unus de pusillis istis these little ones should perish.

18:15 si autem peccaverit in te frater 15. Moreover if thy brother shall
tuus vade et corripe eum inter te et trespass against thee, go and tell him
ipsum solum si te audierit lucratus es his fault between thee and him alone:
fratrem tuum if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained
                                             thy brother.

18:16 si autem non te audierit adhibe 16. But if he will not hear thee, then
tecum adhuc unum vel duos ut in ore take with thee one or two more, that in
duorum testium vel trium stet omne the mouth of two or three witnesses
verbum every word may be established.

18:17 quod si non audierit eos dic 17. And if he shall neglect to hear
ecclesiae si autem et ecclesiam non them, tell it unto the church: but if
audierit sit tibi sicut ethnicus et he neglect to hear the church, let him
publicanus be unto thee as an heathen man and a
                                             publican.

18:18 amen dico vobis quaecumque 18. Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever
alligaveritis super terram erunt ligata ye shall bind on earth shall be bound
et in caelo et quaecumque solveritis in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall
super terram erunt soluta et in caelo loose on earth shall be loosed in
                                             heaven.

18:19 iterum dico vobis quia si duo ex 19. Again I say unto you, That if two
vobis consenserint super terram de omni of you shall agree on earth as touching
re quacumque petierint fiet illis a any thing that they shall ask, it shall
Patre meo qui in caelis est be done for them of my Father which is
                                             in heaven.

18:20 ubi enim sunt duo vel tres 20. For where two or three are
congregati in nomine meo ibi sum in gathered together in my name, there am
medio eorum I in the midst of them.

18:21 tunc accedens Petrus ad eum dixit 21. Then came Peter to him, and said,
Domine quotiens peccabit in me frater Lord, how oft shall my brother sin
meus et dimittam ei usque septies against me, and I forgive him? till
                                             seven times?

18:22 dicit illi Iesus non dico tibi 22. Jesus saith unto him, I say not
usque septies sed usque septuagies unto thee, Until seven times: but,
septies Until seventy times seven.

18:23 ideo adsimilatum est regnum 23. Therefore is the kingdom of heaven
caelorum homini regi qui voluit likened unto a certain king, which
rationem ponere cum servis suis would take account of his servants.

18:24 et cum coepisset rationem ponere 24. And when he had begun to reckon,
oblatus est ei unus qui debebat decem one was brought unto him, which owed
milia talenta him ten thousand talents.

18:25 cum autem non haberet unde 25. But forasmuch as he had not to
redderet iussit eum dominus venundari pay, his lord commanded him to be sold,
et uxorem eius et filios et omnia quae and his wife, and children, and all
habebat et reddi that he had, and payment to be made.

18:26 procidens autem servus ille 26. The servant therefore fell down,
orabat eum dicens patientiam habe in me and worshipped him, saying, Lord, have
et omnia reddam tibi patience with me, and I will pay thee
                                             all.

18:27 misertus autem dominus servi 27. Then the lord of that servant was
illius dimisit eum et debitum dimisit ei moved with compassion, and loosed him,
                                             and forgave him the debt.

18:28 egressus autem servus ille 28. But the same servant went out, and
invenit unum de conservis suis qui found one of his fellowservants, which
debebat ei centum denarios et tenens owed him an hundred pence: and he laid
suffocabat eum dicens redde quod debes hands on him, and took him by the
throat, saying, Pay me that thou owest.

18:29 et procidens conservus eius 29. And his fellowservant fell down at
rogabat eum dicens patientiam habe in his feet, and besought him, saying,
me et omnia reddam tibi Have patience with me, and I will pay
                                             thee all.

18:30 ille autem noluit sed abiit et 30. And he would not: but went and
misit eum in carcerem donec redderet cast him into prison, till he should
debitum pay the debt.

18:31 videntes autem conservi eius quae 31. So when his fellowservants saw
fiebant contristati sunt valde et what was done, they were very sorry,
venerunt et narraverunt domino suo and came and told unto their lord all
omnia quae facta erant that was done.

18:32 tunc vocavit illum dominus suus 32. Then his lord, after that he had
et ait illi serve nequam omne debitum called him, said unto him, O thou
dimisi tibi quoniam rogasti me wicked servant, I forgave thee all that
                                             debt, because thou desiredst me:

18:33 non ergo oportuit et te misereri 33. Shouldest not thou also have had
conservi tui sicut et ego tui misertus compassion on thy fellowservant, even
sum as I had pity on thee?

18:34 et iratus dominus eius tradidit 34. And his lord was wroth, and
eum tortoribus quoadusque redderet delivered him to the tormentors, till
universum debitum he should pay all that was due unto him.

18:35 sic et Pater meus caelestis 35. So likewise shall my heavenly
faciet vobis si non remiseritis Father do also unto you, if ye from
unusquisque fratri suo de cordibus your hearts forgive not every one his
vestris brother their trespasses.
