7:1 nolite iudicare ut non iudicemini 1. Judge not, that ye be not judged.
7:2 in quo enim iudicio iudicaveritis 2. For with what judgment ye judge, ye
iudicabimini et in qua mensura mensi shall be judged: and with what measure
fueritis metietur vobis ye mete, it shall be measured to you
again.
7:3 quid autem vides festucam in oculo 3. And why beholdest thou the mote
fratris tui et trabem in oculo tuo non that is in thy brother's eye, but
vides considerest not the beam that is in
thine own eye?
7:4 aut quomodo dicis fratri tuo sine 4. Or how wilt thou say to thy
eiciam festucam de oculo tuo et ecce brother, Let me pull out the mote out
trabis est in oculo tuo of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in
thine own eye?
7:5 hypocrita eice primum trabem de 5. Thou hypocrite, first cast out the
oculo tuo et tunc videbis eicere beam out of thine own eye; and then
festucam de oculo fratris tui shalt thou see clearly to cast out the
mote out of thy brother's eye.
7:6 nolite dare sanctum canibus neque 6. Give not that which is holy unto
mittatis margaritas vestras ante porcos the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls
ne forte conculcent eas pedibus suis et before swine, lest they trample them
conversi disrumpant vos under their feet, and turn again and
rend you.
7:7 petite et dabitur vobis quaerite et 7. Ask, and it shall be given you;
invenietis pulsate et aperietur vobis seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it
shall be opened unto you:
7:8 omnis enim qui petit accipit et qui 8. For every one that asketh
quaerit invenit et pulsanti aperietur receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth;
and to him that knocketh it shall be
opened.
7:9 aut quis est ex vobis homo quem si 9. Or what man is there of you, whom
petierit filius suus panem numquid if his son ask bread, will he give him
lapidem porriget ei a stone?
7:10 aut si piscem petet numquid 10. Or if he ask a fish, will he give
serpentem porriget ei him a serpent?
7:11 si ergo vos cum sitis mali nostis 11. If ye then, being evil, know how
bona dare filiis vestris quanto magis to give good gifts unto your children,
Pater vester qui in caelis est dabit how much more shall your Father which
bona petentibus se is in heaven give good things to them
that ask him?
7:12 omnia ergo quaecumque vultis ut 12. Therefore all things whatsoever ye
faciant vobis homines et vos facite eis would that men should do to you, do ye
haec est enim lex et prophetae even so to them: for this is the law
and the prophets.
7:13 intrate per angustam portam quia 13. Enter ye in at the strait gate:
lata porta et spatiosa via quae ducit for wide is the gate, and broad is the
ad perditionem et multi sunt qui way, that leadeth to destruction, and
intrant per eam many there be which go in thereat:
7:14 quam angusta porta et arta via 14. Because strait is the gate, and
quae ducit ad vitam et pauci sunt qui narrow is the way, which leadeth unto
inveniunt eam life, and few there be that find it.
7:15 adtendite a falsis prophetis qui 15. Beware of false prophets, which
veniunt ad vos in vestimentis ovium come to you in sheep's clothing, but
intrinsecus autem sunt lupi rapaces inwardly they are ravening wolves.
7:16 a fructibus eorum cognoscetis eos 16. Ye shall know them by their
numquid colligunt de spinis uvas aut de fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns,
tribulis ficus or figs of thistles?
7:17 sic omnis arbor bona fructus bonos 17. Even so every good tree bringeth
facit mala autem arbor fructus malos forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree
facit bringeth forth evil fruit.
7:18 non potest arbor bona fructus 18. A good tree cannot bring forth
malos facere neque arbor mala fructus evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree
bonos facere bring forth good fruit.
7:19 omnis arbor quae non facit fructum 19. Every tree that bringeth not forth
bonum exciditur et in ignem mittitur good fruit is hewn down, and cast into
the fire.
7:20 igitur ex fructibus eorum 20. Wherefore by their fruits ye shall
cognoscetis eos know them.
7:21 non omnis qui dicit mihi Domine 21. Not every one that saith unto me,
Domine intrabit in regnum caelorum sed Lord, Lord, shall enter into the
qui facit voluntatem Patris mei qui in kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth
caelis est ipse intrabit in regnum the will of my Father which is in
caelorum heaven.
7:22 multi dicent mihi in illa die 22. Many will say to me in that day,
Domine Domine nonne in nomine tuo Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in
prophetavimus et in tuo nomine daemonia thy name? and in thy name have cast out
eiecimus et in tuo nomine virtutes devils? and in thy name done many
multas fecimus wonderful works?
7:23 et tunc confitebor illis quia 23. And then will I profess unto them,
numquam novi vos discedite a me qui I never knew you: depart from me, ye
operamini iniquitatem that work iniquity.
7:24 omnis ergo qui audit verba mea 24. Therefore whosoever heareth these
haec et facit ea adsimilabitur viro sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will
sapienti qui aedificavit domum suam liken him unto a wise man, which built
supra petram his house upon a rock:
7:25 et descendit pluvia et venerunt 25. And the rain descended, and the
flumina et flaverunt venti et inruerunt floods came, and the winds blew, and
in domum illam et non cecidit fundata beat upon that house; and it fell not:
enim erat super petram for it was founded upon a rock.
7:26 et omnis qui audit verba mea haec 26. And every one that heareth these
et non facit ea similis erit viro sayings of mine, and doeth them not,
stulto qui aedificavit domum suam supra shall be likened unto a foolish man,
harenam which built his house upon the sand:
7:27 et descendit pluvia et venerunt 27. And the rain descended, and the
flumina et flaverunt venti et inruerunt floods came, and the winds blew, and
in domum illam et cecidit et fuit ruina beat upon that house; and it fell: and
eius magna great was the fall of it.
7:28 et factum est cum consummasset 28. And it came to pass, when Jesus
Iesus verba haec admirabantur turbae had ended these sayings, the people
super doctrinam eius were astonished at his doctrine:
7:29 erat enim docens eos sicut 29. For he taught them as one having
potestatem habens non sicut scribae authority, and not as the scribes.
