9:1 et ascendens in naviculam                1.  And he entered into a ship, and
transfretavit et venit in civitatem suam     passed over, and came into his own city.
                                             
9:2 et ecce offerebant ei paralyticum        2.  And, behold, they brought to him a
iacentem in lecto et videns Iesus fidem      man sick of the palsy, lying on a bed:
illorum dixit paralytico confide fili        and Jesus seeing their faith said unto
remittuntur tibi peccata tua                 the sick of the palsy; Son, be of good
                                             cheer; thy sins be forgiven thee.
                                             
9:3 et ecce quidam de scribis dixerunt       3.  And, behold, certain of the scribes
intra se hic blasphemat                      said within themselves, This man
                                             blasphemeth.
                                             
9:4 et cum vidisset Iesus cogitationes       4.  And Jesus knowing their thoughts
eorum dixit ut quid cogitatis mala in        said, Wherefore think ye evil in your
cordibus vestris                             hearts?
                                             
9:5 quid est facilius dicere                 5.  For whether is easier, to say, Thy
dimittuntur tibi peccata aut dicere          sins be forgiven thee; or to say,
surge et ambula                              Arise, and walk?
                                             
9:6 ut sciatis autem quoniam Filius          6.  But that ye may know that the Son
hominis habet potestatem in terra            of man hath power on earth to forgive
dimittendi peccata tunc ait paralytico       sins, (then saith he to the sick of the
surge tolle lectum tuum et vade in           palsy,) Arise, take up thy bed, and go
domum tuam                                   unto thine house.
                                             
9:7 et surrexit et abiit in domum suam       7.  And he arose, and departed to his
                                             house.
                                             
9:8 videntes autem turbae timuerunt et       8.  But when the multitudes saw it,
glorificaverunt Deum qui dedit               they marvelled, and glorified God,
potestatem talem hominibus                   which had given such power unto men.
                                             
9:9 et cum transiret inde Iesus vidit        9.  And as Jesus passed forth from
hominem sedentem in teloneo Mattheum         thence, he saw a man, named Matthew,
nomine et ait illi sequere me et             sitting at the receipt of custom: and
surgens secutus est eum                      he saith unto him, Follow me. And he
                                             arose, and followed him.
                                             
9:10 et factum est discumbente eo in         10.  And it came to pass, as Jesus sat
domo ecce multi publicani et peccatores      at meat in the house, behold, many
venientes discumbebant cum Iesu et           publicans and sinners came and sat down
discipulis eius                              with him and his disciples.
                                             
9:11 et videntes Pharisaei dicebant          11.  And when the Pharisees saw it,
discipulis eius quare cum publicanis et      they said unto his disciples, Why
peccatoribus manducat magister vester        eateth your Master with publicans and
                                             sinners?
                                             
9:12 at Iesus audiens ait non est opus       12.  But when Jesus heard that, he said
valentibus medico sed male habentibus        unto them, They that be whole need not
                                             a physician, but they that are sick.
                                             
9:13 euntes autem discite quid est           13.  But go ye and learn what that
misericordiam volo et non sacrificium        meaneth, I will have mercy, and not
non enim veni vocare iustos sed              sacrifice: for I am not come to call
peccatores                                   the righteous, but sinners to
                                             repentance.
                                             
9:14 tunc accesserunt ad eum discipuli       14.  Then came to him the disciples of
Iohannis dicentes quare nos et               John, saying, Why do we and the
Pharisaei ieiunamus frequenter               Pharisees fast oft, but thy disciples
discipuli autem tui non ieiunant             fast not?
                                             
9:15 et ait illis Iesus numquid possunt      15.  And Jesus said unto them, Can the
filii sponsi lugere quamdiu cum illis        children of the bridechamber mourn, as
est sponsus venient autem dies cum           long as the bridegroom is with them?
auferetur ab eis sponsus et tunc             but the days will come, when the
ieiunabunt                                   bridegroom shall be taken from them,
                                             and then shall they fast.
                                             
9:16 nemo autem inmittit commissuram         16.  No man putteth a piece of new
panni rudis in vestimentum vetus tollit      cloth unto an old garment, for that
enim plenitudinem eius a vestimento et       which is put in to fill it up taketh
peior scissura fit                           from the garment, and the rent is made
                                             worse.
                                             
9:17 neque mittunt vinum novum in utres      17.  Neither do men put new wine into
veteres alioquin rumpuntur utres et          old bottles: else the bottles break,
vinum effunditur et utres pereunt sed        and the wine runneth out, and the
vinum novum in utres novos mittunt et        bottles perish: but they put new wine
ambo conservantur                            into new bottles, and both are
                                             preserved.
                                             
9:18 haec illo loquente ad eos ecce          18.  While he spake these things unto
princeps unus accessit et adorabat eum       them, behold, there came a certain
dicens filia mea modo defuncta est sed       ruler, and worshipped him, saying, My
veni inpone manum super eam et vivet         daughter is even now dead: but come and
                                             lay thy hand upon her, and she shall
                                             live.
                                             
9:19 et surgens Iesus sequebatur eum et      19.  And Jesus arose, and followed him,
discipuli eius                               and so did his disciples.
                                             
9:20 et ecce mulier quae sanguinis           20.  And, behold, a woman, which was
fluxum patiebatur duodecim annis             diseased with an issue of blood twelve
accessit retro et tetigit fimbriam           years, came behind him, and touched the
vestimenti eius                              hem of his garment:
                                             
9:21 dicebat enim intra se si tetigero       21.  For she said within herself, If I
tantum vestimentum eius salva ero            may but touch his garment, I shall be
                                             whole.
                                             
9:22 at Iesus conversus et videns eam        22.  But Jesus turned him about, and
dixit confide filia fides tua te salvam      when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be
fecit et salva facta est mulier ex illa      of good comfort; thy faith hath made
hora                                         thee whole. And the woman was made
                                             whole from that hour.
                                             
9:23 et cum venisset Iesus in domum          23.  And when Jesus came into the
principis et vidisset tibicines et           ruler's house, and saw the minstrels
turbam tumultuantem                          and the people making a noise,
                                             
9:24 dicebat recedite non est enim           24.  He said unto them, Give place: for
mortua puella sed dormit et deridebant       the maid is not dead, but sleepeth. And
eum                                          they laughed him to scorn.
                                             
9:25 et cum eiecta esset turba intravit      25.  But when the people were put
et tenuit manum eius et surrexit puella      forth, he went in, and took her by the
                                             hand, and the maid arose.
                                             
9:26 et exiit fama haec in universam         26.  And the fame hereof went abroad
terram illam                                 into all that land.
                                             
9:27 et transeunte inde Iesu secuti          27.  And when Jesus departed thence,
sunt eum duo caeci clamantes et              two blind men followed him, crying, and
dicentes miserere nostri Fili David          saying, Thou son of David, have mercy
                                             on us.
                                             
9:28 cum autem venisset domum                28.  And when he was come into the
accesserunt ad eum caeci et dicit eis        house, the blind men came to him: and
Iesus creditis quia possum hoc facere        Jesus saith unto them, Believe ye that
vobis dicunt ei utique Domine                I am able to do this? They said unto
                                             him, Yea, Lord.
                                             
9:29 tunc tetigit oculos eorum dicens        29.  Then touched he their eyes,
secundum fidem vestram fiat vobis            saying, According to your faith be it
                                             unto you.
                                             
9:30 et aperti sunt oculi illorum et         30.  And their eyes were opened; and
comminatus est illis Iesus dicens            Jesus straitly charged them, saying,
videte ne quis sciat                         See that no man know it.
                                             
9:31 illi autem exeuntes diffamaverunt       31.  But they, when they were departed,
eum in tota terra illa                       spread abroad his fame in all that
                                             country.
                                             
9:32 egressis autem illis ecce               32.  As they went out, behold, they
obtulerunt ei hominem mutum daemonium        brought to him a dumb man possessed
habentem                                     with a devil.
                                             
9:33 et eiecto daemone locutus est           33.  And when the devil was cast out,
mutus et miratae sunt turbae dicentes        the dumb spake: and the multitudes
numquam paruit sic in Israhel                marvelled, saying, It was never so seen
                                             in Israel.
                                             
9:34 Pharisaei autem dicebant in             34.  But the Pharisees said, He casteth
principe daemoniorum eicit daemones          out devils through the prince of the
                                             devils.
                                             
9:35 et circumibat Iesus civitates           35.  And Jesus went about all the
omnes et castella docens in synagogis        cities and villages, teaching in their
eorum et praedicans evangelium regni et      synagogues, and preaching the gospel of
curans omnem languorem et omnem              the kingdom, and healing every sickness
infirmitatem                                 and every disease among the people.
                                             
9:36 videns autem turbas misertus est        36.  But when he saw the multitudes, he
eis quia erant vexati et iacentes sicut      was moved with compassion on them,
oves non habentes pastorem                   because they fainted, and were
                                             scattered abroad, as sheep having no
                                             shepherd.
                                             
9:37 tunc dicit discipulis suis messis       37.  Then saith he unto his disciples,
quidem multa operarii autem pauci            The harvest truly is plenteous, but the
                                             labourers are few;
                                             
9:38 rogate ergo dominum messis ut           38.  Pray ye therefore the Lord of the
eiciat operarios in messem suam              harvest, that he will send forth
                                             labourers into his harvest.
