For the kingdom of heaven is like homini patri familias qui exiit primo unto a man that is an householder, mane conducere operarios in vineam suam which went out early in the morning to hire labourers into his vineyard. 20:2 conventione autem facta cum 2. And when he had agreed with the operariis ex denario diurno misit eos labourers for a penny a day, he sent in vineam suam them into his vineyard. 20:3 et egressus circa horam tertiam 3. And he went out about the third vidit alios stantes in foro otiosos hour, and saw others standing idle in the marketplace, 20:4 et illis dixit ite et vos in 4. And said unto them; Go ye also into vineam et quod iustum fuerit dabo vobis the vineyard, and whatsoever is right I will give you. And they went their way. 20:5 illi autem abierunt iterum autem 5. Again he went out about the sixth exiit circa sextam et nonam horam et and ninth hour, and did likewise. fecit similiter 20:6 circa undecimam vero exiit et 6. And about the eleventh hour he went invenit alios stantes et dicit illis out, and found others standing idle, quid hic statis tota die otiosi and saith unto them, Why stand ye here all the day idle? 20:7 dicunt ei quia nemo nos conduxit 7. They say unto him, Because no man dicit illis ite et vos in vineam hath hired us. He saith unto them, Go ye also into the vineyard; and whatsoever is right, that shall ye receive. 20:8 cum sero autem factum esset dicit 8. So when even was come, the lord of dominus vineae procuratori suo voca the vineyard saith unto his steward, operarios et redde illis mercedem Call the labourers, and give them their incipiens a novissimis usque ad primos hire, beginning from the last unto the first. 20:9 cum venissent ergo qui circa 9. And when they came that were hired undecimam horam venerant acceperunt about the eleventh hour, they received singulos denarios every man a penny. 20:10 venientes autem et primi 10. But when the first came, they arbitrati sunt quod plus essent supposed that they should have received accepturi acceperunt autem et ipsi more; and they likewise received every singulos denarios man a penny. 20:11 et accipientes murmurabant 11. And when they had received it, adversus patrem familias they murmured against the goodman of the house, 20:12 dicentes hii novissimi una hora 12. Saying, These last have wrought fecerunt et pares illos nobis fecisti but one hour, and thou hast made them qui portavimus pondus diei et aestus equal unto us, which have borne the burden and heat of the day. 20:13 at ille respondens uni eorum 13. But he answered one of them, and dixit amice non facio tibi iniuriam said, Friend, I do thee no wrong: didst nonne ex denario convenisti mecum not thou agree with me for a penny? 20:14 tolle quod tuum est et vade volo 14. Take that thine is, and go thy autem et huic novissimo dare sicut et way: I will give unto this last, even tibi as unto thee. 20:15 aut non licet mihi quod volo 15. Is it not lawful for me to do what facere an oculus tuus nequam est quia I will with mine own? Is thine eye ego bonus sum evil, because I am good? 20:16 sic erunt novissimi primi et 16. So the last shall be first, and primi novissimi multi sunt enim vocati the first last: for many be called, but pauci autem electi few chosen. 20:17 et ascendens Iesus Hierosolymam 17. And Jesus going up to Jerusalem adsumpsit duodecim discipulos secreto took the twelve disciples apart in the et ait illis way, and said unto them, 20:18 ecce ascendimus Hierosolymam et 18. Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and Filius hominis tradetur principibus the Son of man shall be betrayed unto sacerdotum et scribis et condemnabunt the chief priests and unto the scribes, eum morte and they shall condemn him to death, 20:19 et tradent eum gentibus ad 19. And shall deliver him to the deludendum et flagellandum et Gentiles to mock, and to scourge, and crucifigendum et tertia die resurget to crucify him: and the third day he shall rise again. 20:20 tunc accessit ad eum mater 20. Then came to him the mother of filiorum Zebedaei cum filiis suis Zebedees children with her sons, adorans et petens aliquid ab eo worshipping him, and desiring a certain thing of him. 20:21 qui dixit ei quid vis ait illi 21. And he said unto her, What wilt dic ut sedeant hii duo filii mei unus thou? She saith unto him, Grant that ad dexteram tuam et unus ad sinistram these my two sons may sit, the one on in regno tuo thy right hand, and the other on the left, in thy kingdom. 20:22 respondens autem Iesus dixit 22. But Jesus answered and said, Ye nescitis quid petatis potestis bibere know not what ye ask. Are ye able to calicem quem ego bibiturus sum dicunt drink of the cup that I shall drink of, ei possumus and to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with? They say unto him, We are able. 20:23 ait illis calicem quidem meum 23. And he saith unto them, Ye shall bibetis sedere autem ad dexteram meam drink indeed of my cup, and be baptized et sinistram non est meum dare vobis with the baptism that I am baptized sed quibus paratum est a Patre meo with: but to sit on my right hand, and on my left, is not mine to give, but it shall be given to them for whom it is prepared of my Father. 20:24 et audientes decem indignati sunt 24. And when the ten heard it, they de duobus fratribus were moved with indignation against the two brethren. 20:25 Iesus autem vocavit eos ad se et 25. But Jesus called them unto him, ait scitis quia principes gentium and said, Ye know that the princes of dominantur eorum et qui maiores sunt the Gentiles exercise dominion over potestatem exercent in eos them, and they that are great exercise authority upon them. 20:26 non ita erit inter vos sed 26. But it shall not be so among you: quicumque voluerit inter vos maior but whosoever will be great among you, fieri sit vester minister let him be your minister; 20:27 et qui voluerit inter vos primus 27. And whosoever will be chief among esse erit vester servus you, let him be your servant: 20:28 sicut Filius hominis non venit 28. Even as the Son of man came not to ministrari sed ministrare et dare be ministered unto, but to minister, animam suam redemptionem pro multis and to give his life a ransom for many. 20:29 et egredientibus eis ab Hiericho 29. And as they departed from Jericho, secuta est eum turba multa a great multitude followed him. 20:30 et ecce duo caeci sedentes secus 30. And, behold, two blind men sitting viam audierunt quia Iesus transiret et by the way side, when they heard that clamaverunt dicentes Domine miserere Jesus passed by, cried out, saying, nostri Fili David Have mercy on us, O Lord, thou son of David. 20:31 turba autem increpabat eos ut 31. And the multitude rebuked them, tacerent at illi magis clamabant because they should hold their peace: dicentes Domine miserere nostri Fili but they cried the more, saying, Have David mercy on us, O Lord, thou son of David. 20:32 et stetit Iesus et vocavit eos et 32. And Jesus stood still, and called ait quid vultis ut faciam vobis them, and said, What will ye that I shall do unto you? 20:33 dicunt illi Domine ut aperiantur 33. They say unto him, Lord, that our oculi nostri eyes may be opened. 20:34 misertus autem eorum Iesus 34. So Jesus had compassion on them, tetigit oculos eorum et confestim and touched their eyes: and immediately viderunt et secuti sunt eum their eyes received sight, and they followed him. |
