11:1 et factum est cum consummasset 1. And it came to pass, when Jesus had
Iesus praecipiens duodecim discipulis made an end of commanding his twelve
suis transiit inde ut doceret et disciples, he departed thence to teach
praedicaret in civitatibus eorum and to preach in their cities.

11:2 Iohannes autem cum audisset in 2. Now when John had heard in the
vinculis opera Christi mittens duos de prison the works of Christ, he sent two
discipulis suis of his disciples,

11:3 ait illi tu es qui venturus es an 3. And said unto him, Art thou he that
alium expectamus should come, or do we look for another?

11:4 et respondens Iesus ait illis 4. Jesus answered and said unto them,
euntes renuntiate Iohanni quae auditis Go and shew John again those things
et videtis which ye do hear and see:

11:5 caeci vident claudi ambulant 5. The blind receive their sight, and
leprosi mundantur surdi audiunt mortui the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed,
resurgunt pauperes evangelizantur and the deaf hear, the dead are raised
up, and the poor have the gospel
                                             preached to them.

11:6 et beatus est qui non fuerit 6. And blessed is he, whosoever shall
scandalizatus in me not be offended in me.

11:7 illis autem abeuntibus coepit 7. And as they departed, Jesus began
Iesus dicere ad turbas de Iohanne quid to say unto the multitudes concerning
existis in desertum videre harundinem John, What went ye out into the
vento agitatam wilderness to see? A reed shaken with
                                             the wind?

11:8 sed quid existis videre hominem 8. But what went ye out for to see? A
mollibus vestitum ecce qui mollibus man clothed in soft raiment? behold,
vestiuntur in domibus regum sunt they that wear soft clothing are in
                                             kings' houses.

11:9 sed quid existis videre prophetam 9. But what went ye out for to see? A
etiam dico vobis et plus quam prophetam prophet? yea, I say unto you, and more
                                             than a prophet.

11:10 hic enim est de quo scriptum est 10. For this is he, of whom it is
ecce ego mitto angelum meum ante faciem written, Behold, I send my messenger
tuam qui praeparabit viam tuam ante te before thy face, which shall prepare
                                             thy way before thee.

11:11 amen dico vobis non surrexit 11. Verily I say unto you, Among them
inter natos mulierum maior Iohanne that are born of women there hath not
Baptista qui autem minor est in regno risen a greater than John the Baptist:
caelorum maior est illo notwithstanding he that is least in the
kingdom of heaven is greater than he.

11:12 a diebus autem Iohannis Baptistae 12. And from the days of John the
usque nunc regnum caelorum vim patitur Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven
et violenti rapiunt illud suffereth violence, and the violent
                                             take it by force.

11:13 omnes enim prophetae et lex usque 13. For all the prophets and the law
ad Iohannem prophetaverunt prophesied until John.

11:14 et si vultis recipere ipse est 14. And if ye will receive it, this is
Helias qui venturus est Elias, which was for to come.

11:15 qui habet aures audiendi audiat 15. He that hath ears to hear, let him
                                             hear.

11:16 cui autem similem aestimabo 16. But whereunto shall I liken this
generationem istam similis est pueris generation? It is like unto children
sedentibus in foro qui clamantes sitting in the markets, and calling
coaequalibus unto their fellows,

11:17 dicunt cecinimus vobis et non 17. And saying, We have piped unto
saltastis lamentavimus et non planxistis you, and ye have not danced; we have
mourned unto you, and ye have not
                                             lamented.

11:18 venit enim Iohannes neque 18. For John came neither eating nor
manducans neque bibens et dicunt drinking, and they say, He hath a devil.
daemonium habet

11:19 venit Filius hominis manducans et 19. The Son of man came eating and
bibens et dicunt ecce homo vorax et drinking, and they say, Behold a man
potator vini publicanorum et peccatorum gluttonous, and a winebibber, a friend
amicus et iustificata est sapientia a of publicans and sinners. But wisdom is
filiis suis justified of her children.

11:20 tunc coepit exprobrare 20. Then began he to upbraid the

11:25 in illo tempore respondens Iesus 25. At that time Jesus answered and
dixit confiteor tibi Pater Domine caeli said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of
et terrae quia abscondisti haec a heaven and earth, because thou hast hid
