And when they drew nigh unto Hierosolymis et venissent Bethfage ad Jerusalem, and were come to Bethphage, montem Oliveti tunc Iesus misit duos unto the mount of Olives, then sent discipulos Jesus two disciples, 21:2 dicens eis ite in castellum quod 2. Saying unto them, Go into the contra vos est et statim invenietis village over against you, and asinam alligatam et pullum cum ea straightway ye shall find an ass tied, solvite et adducite mihi and a colt with her: loose them, and bring them unto me. 21:3 et si quis vobis aliquid dixerit 3. And if any man say ought unto you, dicite quia Dominus his opus habet et ye shall say, The Lord hath need of confestim dimittet eos them; and straightway he will send them. 21:4 hoc autem factum est ut impleretur 4. All this was done, that it might be quod dictum est per prophetam dicentem fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, 21:5 dicite filiae Sion ecce rex tuus 5. Tell ye the daughter of Sion, venit tibi mansuetus et sedens super Behold, thy King cometh unto thee, asinam et pullum filium subiugalis meek, and sitting upon an ass, and a colt the foal of an ass. 21:6 euntes autem discipuli fecerunt 6. And the disciples went, and did as sicut praecepit illis Iesus Jesus commanded them, 21:7 et adduxerunt asinam et pullum et 7. And brought the ass, and the colt, inposuerunt super eis vestimenta sua et and put on them their clothes, and they eum desuper sedere fecerunt set him thereon. 21:8 plurima autem turba straverunt 8. And a very great multitude spread vestimenta sua in via alii autem their garments in the way; others cut caedebant ramos de arboribus et down branches from the trees, and sternebant in via strawed them in the way. 21:9 turbae autem quae praecedebant et 9. And the multitudes that went quae sequebantur clamabant dicentes before, and that followed, cried, osanna Filio David benedictus qui saying, Hosanna to the son of David: venturus est in nomine Domini osanna in Blessed is he that cometh in the name altissimis of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest. 21:10 et cum intrasset Hierosolymam 10. And when he was come into commota est universa civitas dicens Jerusalem, all the city was moved, quis est hic saying, Who is this? 21:11 populi autem dicebant hic est 11. And the multitude said, This is Iesus propheta a Nazareth Galilaeae Jesus the prophet of Nazareth of Galilee. 21:12 et intravit Iesus in templum Dei 12. And Jesus went into the temple of et eiciebat omnes vendentes et ementes God, and cast out all them that sold in templo et mensas nummulariorum et and bought in the temple, and overthrew cathedras vendentium columbas evertit the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves, 21:13 et dicit eis scriptum est domus 13. And said unto them, It is written, mea domus orationis vocabitur vos autem My house shall be called the house of fecistis eam speluncam latronum prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves. 21:14 et accesserunt ad eum caeci et 14. And the blind and the lame came to claudi in templo et sanavit eos him in the temple; and he healed them. 21:15 videntes autem principes 15. And when the chief priests and sacerdotum et scribae mirabilia quae scribes saw the wonderful things that fecit et pueros clamantes in templo et he did, and the children crying in the dicentes osanna Filio David indignati temple, and saying, Hosanna to the son sunt of David; they were sore displeased, 21:16 et dixerunt ei audis quid isti 16. And said unto him, Hearest thou dicant Iesus autem dicit eis utique what these say? And Jesus saith unto numquam legistis quia ex ore infantium them, Yea; have ye never read, Out of et lactantium perfecisti laudem the mouth of babes and sucklings thou hast perfected praise? 21:17 et relictis illis abiit foras 17. And he left them, and went out of extra civitatem in Bethaniam ibique the city into Bethany; and he lodged mansit there. 21:18 mane autem revertens in civitatem 18. Now in the morning as he returned esuriit into the city, he hungered. 21:19 et videns fici arborem unam secus 19. And when he saw a fig tree in the viam venit ad eam et nihil invenit in way, he came to it, and found nothing ea nisi folia tantum et ait illi thereon, but leaves only, and said unto numquam ex te fructus nascatur in it, Let no fruit grow on thee sempiternum et arefacta est continuo henceforward for ever. And presently ficulnea the fig tree withered away. 21:20 et videntes discipuli mirati sunt 20. And when the disciples saw it, dicentes quomodo continuo aruit they marvelled, saying, How soon is the fig tree withered away! 21:21 respondens autem Iesus ait eis 21. Jesus answered and said unto them, amen dico vobis si habueritis fidem et Verily I say unto you, If ye have non haesitaveritis non solum de faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only ficulnea facietis sed et si monti huic do this which is done to the fig tree, dixeritis tolle et iacta te in mare fiet but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done. 21:22 et omnia quaecumque petieritis in 22. And all things, whatsoever ye oratione credentes accipietis shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive. 21:23 et cum venisset in templum 23. And when he was come into the accesserunt ad eum docentem principes temple, the chief priests and the sacerdotum et seniores populi dicentes elders of the people came unto him as in qua potestate haec facis et quis he was teaching, and said, By what tibi dedit hanc potestatem authority doest thou these things? and who gave thee this authority? 21:24 respondens Iesus dixit illis 24. And Jesus answered and said unto interrogabo vos et ego unum sermonem them, I also will ask you one thing, quem si dixeritis mihi et ego vobis which if ye tell me, I in like wise dicam in qua potestate haec facio will tell you by what authority I do these things. 21:25 baptismum Iohannis unde erat e 25. The baptism of John, whence was caelo an ex hominibus at illi it? from heaven, or of men? And they cogitabant inter se dicentes si reasoned with themselves, saying, If we dixerimus e caelo dicet nobis quare shall say, From heaven; he will say ergo non credidistis illi unto us, Why did ye not then believe him? 21:26 si autem dixerimus ex hominibus 26. But if we shall say, Of men; we timemus turbam omnes enim habent fear the people; for all hold John as a Iohannem sicut prophetam prophet. 21:27 et respondentes Iesu dixerunt 27. And they answered Jesus, and said, nescimus ait illis et ipse nec ego dico We cannot tell. And he said unto them, vobis in qua potestate haec facio Neither tell I you by what authority I do these things. 21:28 quid autem vobis videtur homo 28. But what think ye? A certain man habebat duos filios et accedens ad had two sons; and he came to the first, primum dixit fili vade hodie operare in and said, Son, go work to day in my vinea mea vineyard. 21:29 ille autem respondens ait nolo 29. He answered and said, I will not: postea autem paenitentia motus abiit but afterward he repented, and went. 21:30 accedens autem ad alterum dixit 30. And he came to the second, and similiter at ille respondens ait eo said likewise. And he answered and domine et non ivit said, I go, sir: and went not. 21:31 quis ex duobus fecit voluntatem 31. Whether of them twain did the will patris dicunt novissimus dicit illis of his father? They say unto him, The Iesus amen dico vobis quia publicani et first. Jesus saith unto them, Verily I meretrices praecedunt vos in regno Dei say unto you, That the publicans and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you. 21:32 venit enim ad vos Iohannes in via 32. For John came unto you in the way iustitiae et non credidistis ei of righteousness, and ye believed him publicani autem et meretrices not: but the publicans and the harlots crediderunt ei vos autem videntes nec believed him: and ye, when ye had seen paenitentiam habuistis postea ut it, repented not afterward, that ye crederetis ei might believe him. 21:33 aliam parabolam audite homo erat 33. Hear another parable: There was a pater familias qui plantavit vineam et certain householder, which planted a sepem circumdedit ei et fodit in ea vineyard, and hedged it round about, torcular et aedificavit turrem et and digged a winepress in it, and built locavit eam agricolis et peregre a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, profectus est and went into a far country: 21:34 cum autem tempus fructuum 34. And when the time of the fruit adpropinquasset misit servos suos ad drew near, he sent his servants to the agricolas ut acciperent fructus eius husbandmen, that they might receive the fruits of it. 21:35 et agricolae adprehensis servis 35. And the husbandmen took his eius alium ceciderunt alium occiderunt servants, and beat one, and killed alium vero lapidaverunt another, and stoned another. 21:36 iterum misit alios servos plures 36. Again, he sent other servants more prioribus et fecerunt illis similiter than the first: and they did unto them likewise. 21:37 novissime autem misit ad eos 37. But last of all he sent unto them filium suum dicens verebuntur filium his son, saying, They will reverence my meum son. 21:38 agricolae autem videntes filium 38. But when the husbandmen saw the dixerunt intra se hic est heres venite son, they said among themselves, This occidamus eum et habebimus hereditatem is the heir; come, let us kill him, and eius let us seize on his inheritance. 21:39 et adprehensum eum eiecerunt 39. And they caught him, and cast him extra vineam et occiderunt out of the vineyard, and slew him. 21:40 cum ergo venerit dominus vineae 40. When the lord therefore of the quid faciet agricolis illis vineyard cometh, what will he do unto those husbandmen? 21:41 aiunt illi malos male perdet et 41. They say unto him, He will vineam locabit aliis agricolis qui miserably destroy those wicked men, and reddant ei fructum temporibus suis will let out his vineyard unto other husbandmen, which shall render him the fruits in their seasons. 21:42 dicit illis Iesus numquam 42. Jesus saith unto them, Did ye legistis in scripturis lapidem quem never read in the scriptures, The stone reprobaverunt aedificantes hic factus which the builders rejected, the same est in caput anguli a Domino factum est is become the head of the corner: this istud et est mirabile in oculis nostris is the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes? 21:43 ideo dico vobis quia auferetur a 43. Therefore say I unto you, The vobis regnum Dei et dabitur genti kingdom of God shall be taken from you, facienti fructus eius and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof. 21:44 et qui ceciderit super lapidem 44. And whosoever shall fall on this istum confringetur super quem vero stone shall be broken: but on ceciderit conteret eum whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder. 21:45 et cum audissent principes 45. And when the chief priests and sacerdotum et Pharisaei parabolas eius Pharisees had heard his parables, they cognoverunt quod de ipsis diceret perceived that he spake of them. 21:46 et quaerentes eum tenere 46. But when they sought to lay hands timuerunt turbas quoniam sicut on him, they feared the multitude, prophetam eum habebant because they took him for a prophet. |
