25:1 tunc simile erit regnum caelorum 1. Then shall the kingdom of heaven be
decem virginibus quae accipientes likened unto ten virgins, which took
lampadas suas exierunt obviam sponso et their lamps, and went forth to meet the
sponsae bridegroom.

25:2 quinque autem ex eis erant fatuae 2. And five of them were wise, and
et quinque prudentes five were foolish.

25:3 sed quinque fatuae acceptis 3. They that were foolish took their
lampadibus non sumpserunt oleum secum lamps, and took no oil with them:

25:4 prudentes vero acceperunt oleum in 4. But the wise took oil in their
vasis suis cum lampadibus vessels with their lamps.

25:5 moram autem faciente sponso 5. While the bridegroom tarried, they
dormitaverunt omnes et dormierunt all slumbered and slept.

25:6 media autem nocte clamor factus 6. And at midnight there was a cry
est ecce sponsus venit exite obviam ei made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go
                                             ye out to meet him.

25:7 tunc surrexerunt omnes virgines 7. Then all those virgins arose, and
illae et ornaverunt lampades suas trimmed their lamps.

25:8 fatuae autem sapientibus dixerunt 8. And the foolish said unto the wise,
date nobis de oleo vestro quia lampades Give us of your oil; for our lamps are
nostrae extinguntur gone out.

25:9 responderunt prudentes dicentes ne 9. But the wise answered, saying, Not
forte non sufficiat nobis et vobis ite so; lest there be not enough for us and
potius ad vendentes et emite vobis you: but go ye rather to them that
                                             sell, and buy for yourselves.

25:10 dum autem irent emere venit 10. And while they went to buy, the
sponsus et quae paratae erant bridegroom came; and they that were
intraverunt cum eo ad nuptias et clausa ready went in with him to the marriage:
est ianua and the door was shut.

25:11 novissime veniunt et reliquae 11. Afterward came also the other
virgines dicentes domine domine aperi virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.
nobis

25:12 at ille respondens ait amen dico 12. But he answered and said, Verily I
vobis nescio vos say unto you, I know you not.

25:13 vigilate itaque quia nescitis 13. Watch therefore, for ye know
diem neque horam neither the day nor the hour wherein
                                             the Son of man cometh.

25:14 sicut enim homo proficiscens 14. For the kingdom of heaven is as a
vocavit servos suos et tradidit illis man travelling into a far country, who
bona sua called his own servants, and delivered
                                             unto them his goods.

25:15 et uni dedit quinque talenta alii 15. And unto one he gave five talents,
autem duo alii vero unum unicuique to another two, and to another one; to
secundum propriam virtutem et profectus every man according to his several
est statim ability; and straightway took his
                                             journey.

25:16 abiit autem qui quinque talenta 16. Then he that had received the five
acceperat et operatus est in eis et talents went and traded with the same,
lucratus est alia quinque and made them other five talents.

25:17 similiter qui duo acceperat 17. And likewise he that had received
lucratus est alia duo two, he also gained other two.

25:18 qui autem unum acceperat abiens 18. But he that had received one went
fodit in terra et abscondit pecuniam and digged in the earth, and hid his
domini sui lord's money.

25:19 post multum vero temporis venit 19. After a long time the lord of
dominus servorum illorum et posuit those servants cometh, and reckoneth
rationem cum eis with them.

25:20 et accedens qui quinque talenta 20. And so he that had received five
acceperat obtulit alia quinque talenta talents came and brought other five
dicens domine quinque talenta mihi talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst
tradidisti ecce alia quinque unto me five talents: behold, I have
superlucratus sum gained beside them five talents more.

25:21 ait illi dominus eius euge bone 21. His lord said unto him, Well done,
serve et fidelis quia super pauca thou good and faithful servant: thou
fuisti fidelis super multa te hast been faithful over a few things, I

enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

25:22 accessit autem et qui duo talenta 22. He also that had received two
acceperat et ait domine duo talenta talents came and said, Lord, thou
tradidisti mihi ecce alia duo lucratus deliveredst unto me two talents:
sum behold, I have gained two other talents
                                             beside them.

25:23 ait illi dominus eius euge serve 23. His lord said unto him, Well done,
bone et fidelis quia super pauca fuisti good and faithful servant; thou hast
fidelis supra multa te constituam intra been faithful over a few things, I will
in gaudium domini tui make thee ruler over many things: enter

25:24 accedens autem et qui unum 24. Then he which had received the one
talentum acceperat ait domine scio quia talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee
homo durus es metis ubi non seminasti that thou art an hard man, reaping
et congregas ubi non sparsisti where thou hast not sown, and gathering

25:25 et timens abii et abscondi 25. And I was afraid, and went and hid
talentum tuum in terra ecce habes quod thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou
tuum est hast that is thine.

eius erunt venite benedicti Patris mei on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of

25:35 esurivi enim et dedistis mihi 35. For I was an hungred, and ye gave
manducare sitivi et dedistis mihi me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me
bibere hospes eram et collexistis me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me

25:36 nudus et operuistis me infirmus 36. Naked, and ye clothed me: I was

25:37 tunc respondebunt ei iusti 37. Then shall the righteous answer
dicentes Domine quando te vidimus him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an
esurientem et pavimus sitientem et hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and
dedimus tibi potum gave thee drink?

25:38 quando autem te vidimus hospitem 38. When saw we thee a stranger, and

25:39 aut quando te vidimus infirmum 39. Or when saw we thee sick, or in
aut in carcere et venimus ad te prison, and came unto thee?

25:40 et respondens rex dicet illis 40. And the King shall answer and say
amen dico vobis quamdiu fecistis uni de unto them, Verily I say unto you,
his fratribus meis minimis mihi fecistis Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of
the least of these my brethren, ye have
                                             done it unto me.

25:41 tunc dicet et his qui a sinistris 41. Then shall he say also unto them
erunt discedite a me maledicti in ignem on the left hand, Depart from me, ye
aeternum qui paratus est diabolo et cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared
angelis eius for the devil and his angels:

25:42 esurivi enim et non dedistis mihi 42. For I was an hungred, and ye gave
manducare sitivi et non dedistis mihi me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave
potum me no drink:

25:43 hospes eram et non collexistis me 43. I was a stranger, and ye took me
nudus et non operuistis me infirmus et not in: naked, and ye clothed me not:
in carcere et non visitastis me sick, and in prison, and ye visited me
                                             not.

25:44 tunc respondebunt et ipsi 44. Then shall they also answer him,
dicentes Domine quando te vidimus saying, Lord, when saw we thee an
esurientem aut sitientem aut hospitem hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or
aut nudum aut infirmum vel in carcere naked, or sick, or in prison, and did
et non ministravimus tibi not minister unto thee?

25:45 tunc respondebit illis dicens 45. Then he will answer them saying,
amen dico vobis quamdiu non fecistis Truly I say to you, to the extent that
uni de minoribus his nec mihi fecistis you did not do it to one of the least of
these, you did not do it to Me.'

25:46 et ibunt hii in supplicium 46. And these shall go away into
aeternum iusti autem in vitam aeternam everlasting punishment: but the
