And after six days Jesus taketh Petrum et Iacobum et Iohannem fratrem Peter, James, and John his brother, and eius et ducit illos in montem excelsum bringeth them up into an high mountain seorsum apart, 17:2 et transfiguratus est ante eos et 2. And was transfigured before them: resplenduit facies eius sicut sol and his face did shine as the sun, and vestimenta autem eius facta sunt alba his raiment was white as the light. sicut nix 17:3 et ecce apparuit illis Moses et 3. And, behold, there appeared unto Helias cum eo loquentes them Moses and Elias talking with him. 17:4 respondens autem Petrus dixit ad 4. Then answered Peter, and said unto Iesum Domine bonum est nos hic esse si Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be vis faciamus hic tria tabernacula tibi here: if thou wilt, let us make here unum et Mosi unum et Heliae unum three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias. 17:5 adhuc eo loquente ecce nubes 5. While he yet spake, behold, a lucida obumbravit eos et ecce vox de bright cloud overshadowed them: and nube dicens hic est Filius meus behold a voice out of the cloud, which dilectus in quo mihi bene conplacuit said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I ipsum audite am well pleased; hear ye him. 17:6 et audientes discipuli ceciderunt 6. And when the disciples heard it, in faciem suam et timuerunt valde they fell on their face, and were sore afraid. 17:7 et accessit Iesus et tetigit eos 7. And Jesus came and touched them, dixitque eis surgite et nolite timere and said, Arise, and be not afraid. 17:8 levantes autem oculos suos neminem 8. And when they had lifted up their viderunt nisi solum Iesum eyes, they saw no man, save Jesus only. 17:9 et descendentibus illis de monte 9. And as they came down from the praecepit Iesus dicens nemini dixeritis mountain, Jesus charged them, saying, visionem donec Filius hominis a mortuis Tell the vision to no man, until the resurgat Son of man be risen again from the dead. 17:10 et interrogaverunt eum discipuli 10. And his disciples asked him, dicentes quid ergo scribae dicunt quod saying, Why then say the scribes that Heliam oporteat primum venire Elias must first come? 17:11 at ille respondens ait eis Helias 11. And Jesus answered and said unto quidem venturus est et restituet omnia them, Elias truly shall first come, and restore all things. 17:12 dico autem vobis quia Helias iam 12. But I say unto you, That Elias is venit et non cognoverunt eum sed come already, and they knew him not, fecerunt in eo quaecumque voluerunt sic but have done unto him whatsoever they et Filius hominis passurus est ab eis listed. Likewise shall also the Son of man suffer of them. 17:13 tunc intellexerunt discipuli quia 13. Then the disciples understood that de Iohanne Baptista dixisset eis he spake unto them of John the Baptist. 17:14 et cum venisset ad turbam 14. And when they were come to the accessit ad eum homo genibus provolutus multitude, there came to him a certain ante eum dicens man, kneeling down to him, and saying, 17:14 Domine miserere filii 15. Lord, have mercy on my son: for he mei quia lunaticus est et male patitur is lunatick, and sore vexed: for nam saepe cadit in ignem et crebro in ofttimes he falleth into the fire, and aquam oft into the water. 17:15 et obtuli eum discipulis tuis et 16. And I brought him to thy non potuerunt curare eum disciples, and they could not cure him. 17:16 respondens Iesus ait o generatio 17. Then Jesus answered and said, O incredula et perversa quousque ero faithless and perverse generation, how vobiscum usquequo patiar vos adferte long shall I be with you? how long huc illum ad me shall I suffer you? bring him hither to me. 17:17 et increpavit ei Iesus et exiit 18. And Jesus rebuked the devil; and ab eo daemonium et curatus est puer ex he departed out of him: and the child illa hora was cured from that very hour. 17:18 tunc accesserunt discipuli ad 19. Then came the disciples to Jesus Iesum secreto et dixerunt quare nos non apart, and said, Why could not we cast potuimus eicere illum him out? 17:19 dicit illis propter 20. And Jesus said unto them, Because incredulitatem vestram amen quippe dico of your unbelief: for verily I say unto vobis si habueritis fidem sicut granum you, If ye have faith as a grain of sinapis dicetis monti huic transi hinc mustard seed, ye shall say unto this et transibit et nihil inpossibile erit mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; vobis and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. 17:20 hoc autem genus non eicitur nisi 21. Howbeit this kind goeth not out per orationem et ieiunium but by prayer and fasting. 17:21 conversantibus autem eis in 22. And while they abode in Galilee, Galilaea dixit illis Iesus Filius Jesus said unto them, The Son of man hominis tradendus est in manus hominum shall be betrayed into the hands of men: 17:22 et occident eum et tertio die 23. And they shall kill him, and the resurget et contristati sunt vehementer third day he shall be raised again. And they were exceeding sorry. 17:23 et cum venissent Capharnaum 24. And when they were come to accesserunt qui didragma accipiebant ad Capernaum, they that received tribute Petrum et dixerunt magister vester non money came to Peter, and said, Doth not solvit didragma your master pay tribute? 17:24 ait etiam et cum intrasset domum 25. He saith, Yes. And when he was praevenit eum Iesus dicens quid tibi come into the house, Jesus prevented videtur Simon reges terrae a quibus him, saying, What thinkest thou, Simon? accipiunt tributum vel censum a filiis of whom do the kings of the earth take suis an ab alienis custom or tribute? of their own children, or of strangers? 17:25 et ille dixit ab alienis dixit 26. Peter saith unto him, Of illi Iesus ergo liberi sunt filii strangers. Jesus saith unto him, Then are the children free. 17:26 ut autem non scandalizemus eos 27. Notwithstanding, lest we should vade ad mare et mitte hamum et eum offend them, go thou to the sea, and piscem qui primus ascenderit tolle et cast an hook, and take up the fish that aperto ore eius invenies staterem illum first cometh up; and when thou hast sumens da eis pro me et te opened his mouth, thou shalt find a piece of money: that take, and give unto them for me and thee. |
