28:1 vespere autem sabbati quae 1. In the end of the sabbath, as it
lucescit in primam sabbati venit Maria began to dawn toward the first day of
Magdalene et altera Maria videre the week, came Mary Magdalene and the
sepulchrum other Mary to see the sepulchre.

28:2 et ecce terraemotus factus est 2. And, behold, there was a great
magnus angelus enim Domini descendit de earthquake: for the angel of the Lord
caelo et accedens revolvit lapidem et descended from heaven, and came and
sedebat super eum rolled back the stone from the door,
                                             and sat upon it.

28:3 erat autem aspectus eius sicut 3. His countenance was like lightning,
fulgur et vestimentum eius sicut nix and his raiment white as snow:

28:4 prae timore autem eius exterriti 4. And for fear of him the keepers did
sunt custodes et facti sunt velut mortui shake, and became as dead men.

28:5 respondens autem angelus dixit 5. And the angel answered and said
mulieribus nolite timere vos scio enim unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know
quod Iesum qui crucifixus est quaeritis that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified.

28:6 non est hic surrexit enim sicut 6. He is not here: for he is risen, as
dixit venite videte locum ubi positus he said. Come, see the place where the
erat Dominus Lord lay.

28:7 et cito euntes dicite discipulis 7. And go quickly, and tell his
eius quia surrexit et ecce praecedit disciples that he is risen from the
vos in Galilaeam ibi eum videbitis ecce dead; and, behold, he goeth before you
praedixi vobis into Galilee; there shall ye see him:
                                             lo, I have told you.

28:8 et exierunt cito de monumento cum 8. And they departed quickly from the
timore et magno gaudio currentes sepulchre with fear and great joy; and
nuntiare discipulis eius did run to bring his disciples word.

28:9 et ecce Iesus occurrit illis 9. And as they went to tell his
dicens havete illae autem accesserunt disciples, behold, Jesus met them,
et tenuerunt pedes eius et adoraverunt saying, All hail. And they came and
eum held him by the feet, and worshipped
                                             him.

28:10 tunc ait illis Iesus nolite 10. Then said Jesus unto them, Be not
timere ite nuntiate fratribus meis ut afraid: go tell my brethren that they
eant in Galilaeam ibi me videbunt go into Galilee, and there shall they
                                             see me.

28:11 quae cum abissent ecce quidam de 11. Now when they were going, behold,
custodibus venerunt in civitatem et some of the watch came into the city,
nuntiaverunt principibus sacerdotum and shewed unto the chief priests all
omnia quae facta fuerant the things that were done.

28:12 et congregati cum senioribus 12. And when they were assembled with
consilio accepto pecuniam copiosam the elders, and had taken counsel, they
dederunt militibus gave large money unto the soldiers,

28:13 dicentes dicite quia discipuli 13. Saying, Say ye, His disciples came
eius nocte venerunt et furati sunt eum by night, and stole him away while we
nobis dormientibus slept.

28:14 et si hoc auditum fuerit a 14. And if this come to the governor's
praeside nos suadebimus ei et securos ears, we will persuade him, and secure
vos faciemus you.

28:15 at illi accepta pecunia fecerunt 15. So they took the money, and did as
sicut erant docti et divulgatum est they were taught: and this saying is
verbum istud apud Iudaeos usque in commonly reported among the Jews until
hodiernum diem this day.

28:16 undecim autem discipuli abierunt 16. Then the eleven disciples went
in Galilaeam in montem ubi constituerat away into Galilee, into a mountain
illis Iesus where Jesus had appointed them.

28:17 et videntes eum adoraverunt 17. And when they saw him, they
quidam autem dubitaverunt worshipped him: but some doubted.

28:18 et accedens Iesus locutus est eis 18. And Jesus came and spake unto
dicens data est mihi omnis potestas in them, saying, All power is given unto
caelo et in terra me in heaven and in earth.

28:19 euntes ergo docete omnes gentes 19. Go ye therefore, and teach all
baptizantes eos in nomine Patris et nations, baptizing them in the name of
Filii et Spiritus Sancti the Father, and of the Son, and of the
                                             Holy Ghost:

28:20 docentes eos servare omnia 20. Teaching them to observe all
quaecumque mandavi vobis et ecce ego things whatsoever I have commanded you:
vobiscum sum omnibus diebus usque ad and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto
consummationem saeculi the end of the world. Amen.
