mentis excessus ready, he fell into a trance,
10:11 et videt caelum apertum et 11. And saw heaven opened, and a
descendens vas quoddam velut linteum certain vessel descending upon him, as
magnum quattuor initiis submitti de it had been a great sheet knit at the
caelo in terram four corners, and let down to the earth:
10:12 in quo erant omnia quadrupedia 12. Wherein were all manner of

inmundum common or unclean.
10:15 et vox iterum secundo ad eum 15. And the voice spake unto him again
quae Deus purificavit ne tu commune the second time, What God hath
dixeris cleansed, that call not thou common.
10:16 hoc autem factum est per ter et 16. This was done thrice: and the
statim receptum est vas in caelum vessel was received up again into
heaven.
10:17 et dum intra se haesitaret 17. Now while Peter doubted in himself
Petrus quidnam esset visio quam what this vision which he had seen
vidisset ecce viri qui missi erant a should mean, behold, the men which were
Cornelio inquirentes domum Simonis sent from Cornelius had made enquiry
adstiterunt ad ianuam for Simon's house, and stood before the
gate,
10:18 et cum vocassent interrogabant 18. And called, and asked whether
si Simon qui cognominatur Petrus illic Simon, which was surnamed Peter, were

10:20 surge itaque et descende et vade 20. Arise therefore, and get thee
cum eis nihil dubitans quia ego misi down, and go with them, doubting
illos nothing: for I have sent them.

causa est propter quam venistis Cornelius; and said, Behold, I am he
whom ye seek: what is the cause
wherefore ye are come?
10:22 qui dixerunt Cornelius centurio 22. And they said, Cornelius the
vir iustus et timens Deum et centurion, a just man, and one that
testimonium habens ab universa gente feareth God, and of good report among
Iudaeorum responsum accepit ab angelo all the nation of the Jews, was warned
sancto accersire te in domum suam et from God by an holy angel to send for
audire verba abs te thee into his house, and to hear words
of thee.
10:23 introducens igitur eos recepit 23. Then called he them in, and lodged

profectus est cum eis et quidam ex with them, and certain brethren from
fratribus ab Ioppe comitati sunt eum Joppa accompanied him.
10:24 altera autem die introivit 24. And the morrow after they entered

illos convocatis cognatis suis et them, and he had called together his
necessariis amicis kinsmen and near friends.
10:25 et factum est cum introisset 25. And as Peter was coming in,
Petrus obvius ei Cornelius et procidens Cornelius met him, and fell down at his
ad pedes adoravit feet, and worshipped him.
10:26 Petrus vero levavit eum dicens 26. But Peter took him up, saying,
surge et ego ipse homo sum Stand up; I myself also am a man.
10:27 et loquens cum illo intravit et 27. And as he talked with him, he went
invenit multos qui convenerant in, and found many that were come
together.
10:28 dixitque ad illos vos scitis 28. And he said unto them, Ye know how
quomodo abominatum sit viro iudaeo that it is an unlawful thing for a man
coniungi aut accedere ad alienigenam et that is a Jew to keep company, or come
mihi ostendit Deus neminem communem aut unto one of another nation; but God
inmundum dicere hominem hath shewed me that I should not call
any man common or unclean.
10:29 propter quod sine dubitatione 29. Therefore came I unto you without
veni accersitus interrogo ergo quam ob gainsaying, as soon as I was sent for:
causam accersistis me I ask therefore for what intent ye have
sent for me?
10:30 et Cornelius ait a nudius 30. And Cornelius said, Four days ago
quartana die usque in hanc horam orans I was fasting until this hour; and at
eram hora nona in domo mea et ecce vir the ninth hour I prayed in my house,
stetit ante me in veste candida et ait and, behold, a man stood before me in
bright clothing,
10:31 Corneli exaudita est oratio tua 31. And said, Cornelius, thy prayer is
et elemosynae tuae commemoratae sunt in heard, and thine alms are had in
conspectu Dei remembrance in the sight of God.

Simonem qui cognominatur Petrus hic hither Simon, whose surname is Peter;
hospitatur in domo Simonis coriarii he is lodged in the house of one Simon
iuxta mare a tanner by the sea side: who, when he
cometh, shall speak unto thee.
10:33 confestim igitur misi ad te et 33. Immediately therefore I sent to
tu bene fecisti veniendo nunc ergo thee; and thou hast well done that thou
omnes nos in conspectu tuo adsumus art come. Now therefore are we all here

sunt a Domino that are commanded thee of God.
10:34 aperiens autem Petrus os dixit 34. Then Peter opened his mouth, and
in veritate conperi quoniam non est said, Of a truth I perceive that God is
personarum acceptor Deus no respecter of persons:
10:35 sed in omni gente qui timet eum 35. But in every nation he that
et operatur iustitiam acceptus est illi feareth him, and worketh righteousness,
is accepted with him.

Hierusalem quem et occiderunt Jews, and in Jerusalem; whom they slew
suspendentes in ligno and hanged on a tree:
10:40 hunc Deus suscitavit tertia die 40. Him God raised up the third day,
et dedit eum manifestum fieri and shewed him openly;

praeordinatis a Deo nobis qui witnesses chosen before God, even to
manducavimus et bibimus cum illo us, who did eat and drink with him
postquam resurrexit a mortuis after he rose from the dead.
10:42 et praecepit nobis praedicare 42. And he commanded us to preach unto
populo et testificari quia ipse est qui the people, and to testify that it is

mortuorum Judge of quick and dead.

of the Holy Ghost.
10:46 audiebant enim illos loquentes 46. For they heard them speak with
linguis et magnificantes Deum tongues, and magnify God. Then answered
Peter,
10:47 tunc respondit Petrus numquid 47. Can any man forbid water, that
aquam quis prohibere potest ut non these should not be baptized, which
